Evening Wheel Watchers! Scott here, bringing you the first of my two recaps this week. Let's play!
EPISODE #5576 - HAWAII WEEK
THIS WEEK'S TAPEDATE: December 2, 2011
THIS WEEK'S CATEGORY WIPE: Reveals left to right, with a hula doll at the left side of the strip
==============================================================
$1,000 TOSS-UP - THING:
_ / W _ _ M
_ _ L _ _ M E
The contestant in the blue position, Andy, will receive A WARM WELCOME to the show and $1,000 to boot!
==============================================================
CONTESTANT INTERVIEWS:
Andy Elliott comes to us from Omaha. He's a research meteorologist who helps to develop new techniques and technologies for weather forecasting. He and his wife, Annie, have one child - an 18-month-old son named Aiden.
Rebekah Stroth hails from Conway, Arkansas. She teaches second grade at Woodrow Cummins Elementary School. Rebekah and her husband Branden are proud parents of two daughters, Madison (age 7) and McKinley (age 4). She briefly visited San Diego, but this is her first experience with the city of Los Angeles.
Talesa Harris lives in Troy, Alabama. She attends Troy University, where she majors in broadcasting and theater. She can also say the alphabet backwards, which she demonstrates for us as we prepare for the second Toss-Up.
==============================================================
$2,000 TOSS-UP - LIVING THINGS:
_ _ L _ O W
L _ L _ E _
Rebekah knows her flowers, specifically YELLOW LILIES, giving her $2,000 and the right to begin Round 1!
==============================================================
TONIGHT'S FEATURED PRIZE: Four Seasons Resort Lana'i at Manele Bay (Travel by Hotwire) - $5,500
ROUND 1 (JACKPOT ROUND) - SAME LETTER:
Rebekah gets the first spin of the night, but it's not a good one for her, hitting the left sliver of the MDW to lose her turn. Talesa hits $300 but is knocked out by the bad N. Andy takes control of the wheel here and picks up $1,500 by putting up a T and an S. After buying the trio of E's and the single A, his flipper finds its way into the Jackpot wedge! Andy calls a C - there's one, and he will try to solve:
_ E A C E / &
_ _ _ S _ E _ _ T _
Set off the fireworks... Andy claims the Jackpot, which gives him a little PEACE & PROSPERITY and a lot of cash - $1,500 plus the $7,300 Jackpot makes this round worth $8,800!
Sole Dud: N (Talesa)
Bankrupt: Rebekah (loss of turn)
PRE-R2 SCORES:
Rebekah - $2,000
Talesa - $0
Andy - $9,800
==============================================================
ROUND 2 (MYSTERY ROUND) - SHOW BIZ:
Talesa gets on a quick roll early in this round, beginning with four T's on the blue Kia tag! That's not the biggest multiple she finds, either - she buys EIGHT E's and sells five N's during the course of her turn as well. But all her hard work is dashed by the wicked white Lose a Turn, giving control to Andy again. He gets Free Play on his first spin for the last vowel (three O's), and after two more spins to build a little cash...
A P P E A R I N _ / O N
T H E / _ O _ E R / O _
E N T E R T A I N _ E N T
_ E E _ _ _
he closes out the round successfully - Andy won't be APPEARING ON THE COVER OF ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY any time soon, but he does add $2,300 to his total!
Lose a Turn: Talesa
PRE-R3 SCORES:
Rebekah - $2,000
Talesa - $0
Andy - $12,100
==============================================================
ROUND 3 (PRIZE PUZZLE ROUND) - WHAT ARE YOU DOING?:
Andy comes out spinning right away... and the Bankrupt comes up right away. Rebekah does her best to take advantage of her first turn since Round 1, and she gets $1,200 for two N's followed by her claiming the Hilo Hattie gift tag with the sole G and putting up four of the five vowels. Unfortunately, she duds out with the D, so we go to Talesa. She hits the blue Kia tag and picks it up with the C (she has only one half since her tag from Round 2 was lost) and then just overshoots the green Kia tag into $450 - but she calls the bad B regardless. Andy flirts with the Lose a Turn, and it gets him on his third spin, but not before he buys the last vowel (the single U). Rebekah adds $1,000 to her score courtesy of two L's and Y, but then strikes out with the S, turning it over to Talesa, who promptly loses her money and Kia half to Bankrupt. Andy has $1,450 and thinks he knows it...
_ U _ _ I N G / O N
A / T R O L L E Y
C A R
but HUMMING ON A TROLLEY CAR is not correct. Rebekah cleans up after the miss by providing the correct solution: she'll be JUMPING ON A TROLLEY CAR as she enjoys a trip to SAN FRANCISCO! That trip will see her lodged at the Palace Hotel and is valued at $5,200 - added to the $1,450 in cash she had as well as the Hilo Hattie gift tag, Rebekah won $7,650 this round!
SAN FRANCISCO SPIN ID: KF9467692 (Kyle F.)
Duds: D (Rebekah), B (Talesa), S (Rebekah)
Bankrupt: Andy (loss of turn) and Talesa ($500 and a Kia half)
Lose a Turn: Andy
DQ: Andy's mis-solve "HUMMING ON A TROLLEY CAR"
PRE-TU3 SCORES:
Rebekah - $9,650 cash, Hilo Hattie gift, and San Francisco trip
Talesa - $0
Andy - $12,100
=============================================================
$3,000 TOSS-UP - FUN & GAMES:
I N D _ O R
S _ C _ E R
Rebekah rings in and takes two of three toss-ups by filling in INDOOR SOCCER! That takes her into the lead with $12,650!
=============================================================
ROUND 4 - SONG LYRICS:
Rebekah hits the big numbers with every spin - $800 twice and $900 once - but buys the absent A. Talesa picks up $1,650 with the trio of N's but then hits her second Lose a Turn of the night. Following that spin, four of the next six letter calls are bad: Andy misses the R, Rebekah gets an L and three I's but then buys the bad O, then Talesa misses with M and Andy passes his turn with P. Rebekah will solve it when she gets her turn back...
T I N _ / _ _ _ _ L E S
I N / T _ E / _ I N E
and there may be TINY BUBBLES IN THE WINE, but Rebekah is racking up big cash... $2,900 more this round takes her over $15,000!
Duds: A (Rebekah), R (Andy), O (Rebekah), M (Talesa), P (Andy)
Lose a Turn: Talesa
PRE-R5 SCORES:
Rebekah - $15,550 cash, Hilo Hattie gift, and San Francisco trip
Talesa - $0
Andy - $12,100
=============================================================
ROUND 5 (FULL $1,500 SPEEDUP) - AROUND THE HOUSE:
After Pat Bankrupts on his first attempt at the Final Spin, his second effort is $500, making consonants $1,500 for the rest of the game. Talesa begins the search, but it's Andy who calls the pair of C's on his third turn...
C L _ S S _ C
_ _ _ R _ / G _ M _ S
and he could buy some nice CLASSIC BOARD GAMES with $4,500 in additional cash, but more importantly, he wins this game by $1,050!
Duds: T (Talesa), N (Andy)
FINAL SCORES:
Rebekah - $15,550 cash, Hilo Hattie gift, and San Francisco trip
Talesa - GOOSEEGG ($1,000)

============================================================

_ N / _ _ _ R
_ _ N
Our meteorologist will select CMD and O, getting three of the vowel...
O N / _ O _ R
O _ N
He doesn't need 10 seconds - just one is enough for him to clearly enunciate ON YOUR OWN and win a Mazda MX-5 Miata convertible! With the $5,000 in cash included, that grand prize is worth $38,295, which brings Andy's final score to $54,895 in combined cash and car!
