For the first time since April 11, 2016, Wheel has topped the syndie game show ratings. After a long period of falling in second or third place behind Family Feud and Jeopardy!, Wheel managed to beat both for the week of September 24-30, a 7% increase from the previous week.
This upset was largely due to the Brett Kavanaugh hearings on September 27 pre-empting all daytime programming. Wheel lucked out from this due its stricter scheduling. While Feud, Jeopardy!, and Millionaire can be seen at various times throughout the country, Wheel does not air earlier than 7:00 PM Eastern in any part of the US, which is the exact time the hearings ended and normal programming resumed, save for a few ABC affiliates on the East Coast that opted to air a delayed edition of World News Tonight. Normally, Wheel's prime access time slots are unfavorable due to common pre-emptions from extended national newscasts or sporting event pregames and other pre-primetime specials.
