Just for kicks, I looked at every puzzle that has been used three times, and saw this. A general trend is that a Quotation/Title category, a more specific Quotation/Title, and either a Decade or third related category get used.
ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL (Title in '84, Phrase in '11, Quotation in '04)
BALLROOM DANCING (Event in '06, F&G in '15, WAYD? in '10)
CAPACITY CROWD (People in '96, Phrase in '05, Same Letter? in '10)
FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF (Interesting: Movie Title in '10, The 80's in '13, and 80's Movie Title in '18)
FRENCH ONION SOUP (This one is more of a natural evolution: Thing in '97, On the Menu in '04, F&D in '14)
