I only got to watch this muted due to CBS extended news tonight, to my disappointment.
The maingame really was nothing to write home about, besides a disappointing start to Express. Tidbits anyways:
-What's up with changing the trip amount / post-BR amount so radically? I like the font but the color/shading is not as emphatic as the previous one. -Some type of car sponsor post-R1 to make up for no Jackpot, I guess. (Eggland's moved to sponsor Mystery!) -MDW not giving $500 per despite the move is the type of lack of standardization across the Wheel staff that disappoints us. -Bonus wheel looks awesome. -I think they wanted that BR won, but she just didn't call C or A. Could have been a more obvious puzzle, I didn't actually get it myself...

So unless $500 per consonant is added to the Million Dollar Wedge later this season, the staff should change the pink $500 to $550 next season. Also, this episode marks the first time since Season 26 that one of the Mystery Wedges is not next to the penalty wedge.

I'm glad they got rid of the Jackpot Round. It was becoming inferior to the other maingames.
I think I'm going to like the Express Wedge, risker but more fun.
The bonus round wheel's new design is great.

So, no bonus round win tonight. $550 retired for no reason as the Million Dollar wedge still does not award $500 per occurrence (at least for the time being). A disappointing first land on the Express. Makes for a quiet start of the new season.
When I first saw the Bonus Wheel, I could already tell it looked different before checking out the layout. How? Instead of being slanted, the envelopes are stright.

Where do I start with this very anticlimactic start to the season? I know! Vanna's atrocious gown! Everything about that dress tonight was bad. The color, the backless cutout, but most importantly the length. It made her calves look huge. Then let's talk about that heel... That cheap $2.99 looking pair of heels. We have better at Shoe Carnival.
Anywho, I guess I should've thrown this in first but the intro needs to go. They've used it before and it's getting old at this point.
Again, the Mystery Round graphic needs an update. This isn't season 24 or 25 or however long ago that was used.
Can't say much for the Express Wedge yet seeing as it was a wasted opportunity that looks like it would've resulted in a Bankrupt anyhow.
I've said this a few times before and I'll say it again... THE NEW POSITION OF THE MDW SUCKS! Especially if you're not gonna offer $500/letter for picking it up. What was the point in changing it?
I like the new price graphic but like Wayo said, there's just something off about it. Now that I think about it, it slightly remind me of the numbers from the La Roue in France. Kind of a BUSINKO font type feel.
I do like the update to the Final Spin graphic, nice touch there.
Lastly, not sure how I like the new Bonus Wheel. There's just something about it that seems pedestrian, although I do like the fact that the wedge that's landed on lights up.
Fail on the easy bonus puzzle.
2/10 to start the season.

Well, I don't know about the most of you... but I think we have a decent season ahead of us. I'm not sure about the Express Wedge sharing its time with the Prize Puzzle, in all honesty, the Prize puzzle should have gotten moved to Round 1 (The "DS" custom if you know what I mean) so everything is all balanced. Other than that, I can at least attempt to use my Dazzle card each episode (if I can!)

That was just an utter fail on the Express hit..... I mean, to me it was obvious that at least the V was in the puzzle. That would've been a decent starting point instead of taking a random swing in the dark.

Season premiere. Lots of unanswered questions. Here we go. Right off the bat, in Las Vegas. Right off the bat, our first Nonsense Answer of Season 31. Hey, look, new money graphic! I...don't like it. Looks cheap. COMING THROUGH WITH FLYING COLORS...minor Dafuq Puzzle. Looks like the Bonus Round car is sponsored now. Can't say I'm surprised after the million dollar win. Gotta save money somehow. If it results in giving more of them away, I'm all for it. Mystery Round's sponsored now, too. Guess with the Jackpot gone, Eggland's Best needs to sponsor something. Final Spin graphic got a nice little touchup, too, to match the colors of the new title card...of which we didn't even see. Silly road show openings. This new Bonus Round wheel seems like a step back to me. It doesn't flash a zillion colors like the old one did, and the color scheme makes it look out of place. BACK IN THE DAY...is it just me, or would that have been a more appropriate puzzle last season?

I don't think the bonus round car will be sponsored every week; probably only during the Vegas shows since AutoNation has a presence there.

Cu, I think they were trying to put a spin on B&A. COMING THROUGH LOUD AND CLEAR and PASSING WITH FLYING COLORS had a baby and the random puzzle was born. It took me a lot longer to get that because I was just so damn confused.

The latter was actually a Speed-Up puzzle around Season 28 or so. I remember because the blue contestant guessed nonsense like "MESSING WITH STRONG ODORS" and "MISSING WITH SPRING COLORS".

R1: Looks like Jil was off to a good start, up until the dud E. Pity, too, especially since E usually is a good vowel to buy early on. I thought the first word was MOVING, but regardless, Portia did nicely here.
R4: I see there's a new Final Spin graphic. Looks nice! Would've been nice if Jil had more money when she solved, but still a pretty impressive solve!
BR: I like the new Bonus Wheel design as well. As for the puzzle, I got the answer with Jil's picks. She might've had a better chance had she chosen CDMA. Too bad she didn't have much to work with.
Sort of an underwhelming season premiere. To me, the main highlight was R1, if there was one. Hopefully the rest of the week, and the rest of the season, will be a lot more exciting.

Did not like the gluten free comment, honestly. Not so much that it's not PC (Pat, I love that you aren't, so...), but that it was oddly unrelated, and could have been devoted to saying goodbye to Jackpot. 1K TU: I thought of the 2008 NBA Finals with this, plus show longevity. Could be a lot worse, didn't mind this puzzle at all. 2K TU: Oh joy, first slip of the year. I had something else entirely for this that would have fit/made sense. And you wonder why I hate R/T? R1: Bad puzzle, on a few levels. This feels like 2 phrases, between COMING THROUGH IN THE CLUTCH and PASSING WITH FLYING COLORS. In addition, why the heck make an R1 have both A and E dud vowels? Rather mean. Car sponsorship...I don't mind this, temporary or whatnot. I do take issue with what time it was done, this would have been better after the speed-up round. R2: Joy, another B&A. Picked up right where we left off. Good to see the sponsor is still there, and finally goodbye pointless Vanna promo for the cash. Though it's odd not to have the round sponsor be a bit more prominent, yeah? Still the S25 little intro video. Only the $400 from that is still there, since that was used. Can't you guys fix that? Wouldn't take much effort. Situation comedy shortens to sitcom...is this puzzle being subtly meta? R3: Hey wow, this was a good puzzle, I didn't see flaws. And hey, Express, welcome aboard. Wow, that crowd reaction was awesome on it getting hit, so much that I didn't even hear its sound effect (if there was one). Ditto the 'AWWWW!' Well done, crowd. Hadn't considered it, but greenday makes a really solid point about going for something totally off the board (literally so here). First non-trip prize in a PP since, what S25? I know there was St. Lucia, but the camcorder goes undervalued/unnoticed here. And thank you Harry-I rather like that, as I suggested something similar using Sony goods. Pat's Express Explanation: Long, and cue cards. Can't blame him, not easy to understand. Thing is, I still wonder what happens if you missolve while on the Express? Still bankrupt? I thought so until tonight, but it wasn't specified. TU3: Oh, Portia, looks like your toss-ups are working as well as your suitors are opening your caskets. Though this was themed, as was R4, the latter is surprising. Sigh. R4: I like the new FS graphic, goes great with this season's logo, nice work design team. Jil, I love what you did here, well protected AND you continued after the buzzer, with a quick solve to boot. Now THAT's how you play. BR: I'm not sold either way on the new wheel, yet. It looks good with Vegas, but will it go with the usual CC setting? Remains to be seen. I tend to like it more than not, though. Is D already up there, though, huh? What was that about? I know this was meant to be easy, since it's a CDMA wins, but I didn't even have it. Surprised the car was the first thing landed on this year. I echo cu's sentiment that this would have been better for last season. Thinking about it more, though, this is closer to the premiere date of the syndie show, on the 19th. Maybe that's why? Asides: Vanna's dress and shoes...George, yeah, good call. Usually I say how nice they are...the fact I didn't notice or say anything this show is telling. Score: 2/5. Meh, and especially for a season premiere, to boot. No fault of the crowd tonight though, they were awesome.

BACK IN THE DAY...is it just me, or would that have been a more appropriate puzzle last season? Wheel takes its BRs seriously for budget reasons. They will never be themed in any way at all, and that's 100% fine.

The second Toss-Up feels kinda...derpy. And apparently MONEY is a six-letter word. The Round 1 puzzle feels weird...as does Round 2, really. While I'd normally say "Seriously, who uses SITUATION COMEDY anymore?", they're apparently contractually obligated to do a Before & After puzzle each night. (How about STUPID SITCOM SCENARIO as a puzzle?) Did anybody else notice that the Eggland's Best plug was just moved from Round 1 to Round 2? Ohai, Trip Puzzle [LoudBoomyVoice] IT CAME FROM THE BROCHURE[/WelcomeBackFriend]. Also, it feels really bad when the Wheel Trip is only $96 more than the guaranteed one, and even worse when someone wins due to said guaranteed trip. ...Waitasec, there was a camcorder in there as well? How about, instead of trip + prize, something that doesn't involve a frickin' trip? The Bonus Wheel looks like the current Grand Game. That's not a compliment. BACK IN THE DAY...this show used to be good. And we begin the season (airing-wise) with $17,750 cash removed from Harry's pocketbook, which isn't exactly a lot but hey... Your optimal Bonus Round strategy for September 16, 2013:* I'll go with BCDA(Y), but that's a guess. In the battle of CDMA versus BGHO, tonight's winner is...well, I'm not quite sure. CDMA and the "Prizes be trollin' combo" DICK give four letters each, the "Scott be trollin' combo" WKYI gives three, and BGHO, the "take a third option" FGHI, the "Super Mario(GS)" BPYO, and the "CU be trollin' combo" FUCK each give two. Wheel takes its BRs seriously for budget reasons. Of course they do, but when it's crunch time they have no qualms about making them stupid (WILDLY HAPPY GUY and FINICKY BABY remain Dafuq Puzzles).

Oh hey, it's a new season of Wheel.
TU2: Never heard of this one.
R1: A bit weird to see such a no-frills R1. Anyways, I usually hear this as PASSING WITH FLYING COLORS; haven't heard of the phrase with COMING THROUGH. (Unfortunately, the semi-rare E-less puzzle locks Jil out of her trip…)
R2: Oh, so the plug that was used for the Jackpot Round before is now in the Mystery Round. Anyways, I couldn't figure out SITUATION COMEDY… my puzzle solving skills have gotten awfully rusty over the summer. ^^;
R3: Huh, go figure; first time we land on the Express Wedge and we get someone who doesn't know the puzzle and doesn't even get the chance to board the express. ^^; And it was at a point where the puzzle could have been figured out, too… Well, Jil gets her trip, and to her credit, at least she got all the multiples off the board first.
TU3: Well, at least Ryan won't leave with the Non-Pity Thousand…
R4: Last-second defensive solve by Jil to ensure she goes to the BR.
BR: Had BACK IN THE… to start, and got the last word with her D. Definitely a CDMA-friendly puzzle; unfortunately, that's not what she called. She was close, but alas, it was not to be…
Meh. Disappointing season premiere. Hopefully the rest of the week will be better.

I love the new bonus wheel. The wedge landed on actually glows bright blue when the envelope is removed, which is something I think needs to be seen a little bit longer, otherwise people might miss it.
The new money graphic, I don't like. It reminds me of the graphic they used around 2001, when the Bonus Wheel and the $100,000 BR was first introduced. It's not the same font, and it really doesn't look right.
Overall, it's a thumbs up from me. I can't wait to see the Express wedge actually in action.
(Side note: I'm kind of peeved at Jeopardy! for turning the set red for FJ! and NOT for DJ!)

Last night season premiere episode, there was not much to explain. First off, MDW has moved to $500 space but doesn’t mean it worth $500 with it. So why bother to move the million dollar when players don’t get additional money? It kinda like there no reason to get rid of $550 space. None at all. Speaking of get rid of it, there nothing mention about the Jackpot round retirement for the entire show. The first round is just the regular round, no biggie. And Pat and Vanna didn’t even talk about it at the end of the show. It like they abandoned this 17 years old wedge without even really care, I mean come on. At least they mention the Free Spin one last time when it was retiring youtu.be/cyMQpKi0h4I?t=4m16s and so does $25,000 youtu.be/9YC3So072vk so why not the Jackpot? The graphics for the new season, not much also. Only stuff they updated is Final Spin and the new numbers font for price of the prize and post BR total. But when they ever going to update that Mystery round graphic. IT 2013 PEOPLE!!! That 2006 layout is long gone. Well that all I have to say about this bad start season premiere. Too bad we didn’t get a chance to see Express gameplay in action, but hopefully this week. But hey, the only bright side is that Bankrupt and LAT wasn’t landed on and had one perfect round. That something, right?

The Mystery Round bumper uses the Season 25 layout (2007-08), as the Bankrupt is visible over the yellow $300, the only season where it was on that wedge. Still, it doesn't take much effort to update it to make it look like this. It's so much more colorful, too. As for my comments on the premiere, I won't be providing a review until I'm actually able to watch it.
