R4 was actually kinda tricky. TU2 stumped me because I couldn't think of anything to go with EXPENSE.
Hey, cool, she picked my initials in the BR!

I almost thought I didn't know what an expense report is. Jeremy deserved that Toss-Up sweep for that reason.

Another fairly good show for this week. That's the first time in awhile someone won significant cash (18k+) in a 6k speed-up.
Another really easy BR - I was hoping B & F would come into play in a big way, but nope, it's the other three letters. <_>

Not really the first time, but remember when Anthony and Jhenice won the Final Spin on Valentine's Day?

I got to watch this episode. I love the irony in TPH's first recap comment, "Melody's got nothing." First, it may be not so good for her (at that moment), but it's good for me in completing an O-column BAVGO! Secondly, she may have started out with nothing but goes with much more than nothing! Jeremy was hot with the Toss-ups, though -- give that man a broom!

Hey Melody! Welcome to the boards!
You did very well tonight and deserved a whole lot more than $30K. Otherwise, what do you plan to do with the money?

I'm amazed at the drinking game that was created. We had about 15 people over at our house to watch, which, of course, made the viewers think I won -- or else I wouldn't spend the money to feed that many folks.
Also, I'm amazed at the recaps done for every show. That's definitely a lot of work, but it's neat to see it again, especially since I pretty much forgot everything that happened during the taping.
The toss-ups, for me, were pretty easy, and had the whole game been filled with those, I'd have run away with the bank! The hard part of the game is when YOU'RE actually picking letters, using the "used letter board", spinning, checking the "totals" screen, and generally trying not to look stupid in front of the whole nation. Having the letters pop up for you made it SO much easier!
I had a strategy in the Speed-Up Round, but it failed (as you can see). I had NO clue as to the first word, but since I knew the second word had an "A" in it, I went for that, figuring I might figure out the first word if it also had the letter in it. Nope. When the second word had the A, but the first word didn't, I was stumped, thinking the first word was COUPLES-- even though the "P" was already in play. Melody deserved that one.

Pat generally does say the same whenever a contestant solves "only" $6,000 from the three Toss-Ups, and I'd have to agree with that. Plus you don't have to worry about Bankrupt or Lose A Turn, and for that matter, if it's even your turn!

Welcome to the forum, Jeremy! We're glad you enjoy our game recaps - we know a lot of people either miss the show for whatever reason or just want to look at what happened at their own pace. So we're proud to be able to provide these for all to see through the hard work of our recapper, Bobby. It's good that you were able to walk away from the studio with a pretty good chunk of cash (or at least the promise of a check for that amount of cash), and we hope you'll share more about your Wheel experience with our community!

Hey Jeremy! Welcome to BaV Boards!
You did very well this game (esp. sweeping the Toss-Ups), and I think you made a good move when calling the A in R4. I would've done the same if I were stumped. Too bad it didn't work out but hey, $7,900 isn't so bad!
Just wondering, how come you didn't go for the Y's in R1?

So from the results of that drinking game, we would've had to take 7 drinks (8 if Kyle was embarrassed. ), 1 yell at the screen, 1 spitting out of the drink, and 1 freakout. Fun stuff. Sidebar: I Googled "Wheel of Fortune viewing party ideas" before ours to get some tips from previous contestants, and what was the first result? Melody's Pinterest page on the same topic! Where dreamoffields' thread is linked at the top. I take it that's how you found this forum, Jeremy? I wish I had known you were having a party, too. I want to try out my name tag idea on someone else after its success at Julie's. (Any takers for anyone airing soon?) WOF should consider making a licensed line of show-themed party supplies. I'm so flattered at how fast we're attracting new members. I hope this streak keeps up.

Hi again, everyone! Thanks for all your insightful, playful commentary about our episode. I had a ton of fun, and the producers and contestant coordinators made me feel confident, comfortable, and ready to roll (er, spin). jeremyhoward, you did AMAZINGLY and blew me away with your toss-up skills! With my year of prepping for the show, I never did get good at those damn toss-ups. Too chaotic! I felt much more comfortable when I had control over what to call. So... yeah... about that first toss-up. I had spent a long time practicing spa-related phrases in anticipation of our "Spa Getaway" episode, and I knew all of the other spa-themed toss-ups before the players on the other episodes that taped that day (was eagerly anticipating "Hot Stone Massage" as a puzzle, and sure enough!). But, of course, when my chance came along, I rushed in and bombed. I saw "in the sauna" right away, and my brain's first thought was "roasting in the sauna", so I hit the buzzer. For several obvious reasons, that wasn't the answer (firstly, the letters weren't lining up, and secondly, that's not an actual saying, brain!!!!); I then had that moment where my brain wasn't conjuring up any other answers. Come on, Melody, people SIT in saunas! Anyway, I brushed it off and just thought about the hilarious drinking game possibilities for my viewing party. (Drink if Melody solves toss-up? You will be thirsty, my friends.) :taunt: As for the second toss-up, Jeremy and I buzzed in at the exact.same.time. I was ready to answer when Pat said his name and not mine! All those monthly expense reports I've done for work, and no reward. I will continue to be angsty about expense reports for eternity. Toss-up #3? I had nothing. It's a shame because during that time, I was working on a marketing campaign for a toy client of mine that's releasing a mermaid toy product, so the word "mermaid" had been floating around my mind for quite some time outside of the show. Again, brain, couldn't do me any favors? :hammer: With the regards to the rest of the episode, man, it was a rush! I actually didn't feel as though it went by in a flash, as many contestants say. If anything, I was eager for it to be over (and I find it hard to watch Wheel now that I've been on... I get small pangs of PTSD). Re. PINEAPPLE FRUIT BOWL. I hesitated to solve the puzzle because I was struggling to define what a "pineapple fruit bowl" is. A bowl with only pineapple in it? A bowl carved out of a pineapple with other fruit in it? Literally, that confusion was going through my mind during the game, which is why I made that last – very risky – spin for the "R". Looking back, I cannot believe I made that last spin! Re. DOUBLES PARTNERS, jeremyhoward, I thought two things about your "A" strategy: 1) you didn't know the puzzle and were hoping that a known vowel would help you out (although, in that case, why not call out a vowel that wasn't in PARTNERS, since it's not getting you $ anyway?) or 2) you knew the puzzle and picked a letter you knew wouldn't help me or Kelly in solving the first word, in hopes of it coming back around to you. I was sure you knew the puzzle, and was shocked when it was my turn again. (And visibly shaken when I saw the scoreboard.) Thanks for tuning in, folks. I highly recommend auditioning and making the trek if you get the chance!

So from the results of that drinking game, we would've had to take 7 drinks (8 if Kyle was embarrassed. ), 1 yell at the screen, 1 spitting out of the drink, and 1 freakout. Fun stuff. There was reasoning behind "if Kyle's embarrassed." A few months before the taping, I was hanging out with some friends and we somehow got on the conversation of the little Wheel intro ( the"Pat Chat", as the crew calls it). In our conversation, I said "I'm engaged to my lovely fiancé, Kyle!", when my buddy Vince started cracking up. Apparently he thought it hilarious that I referred to my fiancé as "lovely", as he perceives that to be a feminine descriptor. He begged me to say that on TV, and I told him no, if people perceive that as feminine or somehow a hilarious thing to call a man, then I'll avoid it. Then comes tape day. I kept telling myself "call him your wonderful fiancé, call him your wonderful fiancé." And sure enough, my brain toys with me again... I'm standing there with Pat and I introduce Kyle as my "lovely" fiancé, which even Pat made fun of me for! All I could think about was Vince high-fiving his bros. Meanwhile, Kyle is totally unphased by all this. He wasn't embarrassed at all, and doesn't see the big deal about being called lovely, wonderful, or whatever (I'm in the same boat... he's lovely to me, which is why I'm gunna marry him!).
