Thank you for the recap, TPH. Well, if it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all. They even mercifully edited out one of the times I hit bankrupt (I spun first in R4). I was almost ready to solve the Prize Puzzle with could just like Stephanie, but at the last second "or maybe its would?" popped into my head so I thought I'd spin again and think about it. Then I realized there were no other "c" or "w"s on the board, so I should just try one. But then I hit a lose a turn anyway. I was so nervous going on Wheel of Fortune, way more nervous than I was on Jeopardy because I knew how much more luck played into it. I was really worried I would only get to touch the wheel once. I should have worried more about hitting bankrupt. It sure seemed like the wheel was 90% bankrupts and lose-a-turns to me. Much thanks to Guint and his Puzzle Compendium. As soon as I found out that my theme was going to be The Great Outdoors I went through all the puzzles from the previous weeks looking at what they used for the themed puzzles. That's why I rang in so quickly on the first tossup. Erich was a hoot. He's been in a bunch of movies as an extra, and he was flirting with all the contestant coordinators backstage. Stephanie had a sly sense of humor and they made a good comedy pair. The only regret I have is not ringing in a little faster on BOTANICAL GARDENS. I wouldn't have gotten the bonus round puzzle either, so I don't feel too bad about missing it.

Does anyone think the letter Q is one of the trickiest letters in the bonus round?

Tough luck with the wheel tonight Megan. When you didn't have to spin you did really well! Oh well, $6200 is a nice half hours work

Then I realized there were no other "c" or "w"s on the board, so I should just try one. I absolutely hate puzzles with unique letters like that. Even the most skilled player has a 50% (or higher) chance of missing on these ones.

It was great seeing you tonight, Megan! TU's: Great job getting the first 2 Toss-Ups, Megan! I noticed that for the third Toss-Up, you tried to ring in at the same time Erich did. Or at least that's what it looked like. Sorry you couldn't complete the sweep. R1: It's no fun starting a round with a penalty hit. Sorry that had to happen to you. R2: I knew the answer once the N's came up. Stephanie was doing pretty good for a while there, up until the dud I. At least everyone has money at this point, though. R3: Erich was scaring me for a while in the beginning! That was quite a spin pattern he had going there. It was interesting to see H as the first letter to be called in a round. Too bad Erich ended up repeating the H later on, though. I have a feeling that nerves got the better of him when he did that, especially with all that money sitting in front of him. For the puzzle, I also thought it was COULD at first, to be honest. Then shortly after, I realized, "Oh, it could also be WOULD..." That was pretty mean. And even if anyone had kept spinning, it basically would've been like a coin toss (or flipping the Mystery wedge ) to have to choose either the C or the W. I felt bad when Stephanie got buzzed out. But, congrats to Erich for winning the round and the Costa Rica trip. R4: Gosh, Megan, the Wheel just did not like you at all. I'm really sorry about your bad luck with the Wheel. But I'm glad that you did finish the round with another $3,200. I also thought it was kinda funny how you and Erich tried to spin the Wheel during the Speed-Up. BR: I had BIG QUALIFICATIONS with the RSTLNE, but just could not come up with JOB. That was a pretty tough puzzle, especially with the J and the Q. But, Erich still ends up with a nice total of over 20 grand, including the Costa Rica trip. I really wanted you to win, Megan. You were a really good player, and I felt like you were the best player out of the 3 of you. It's just that the Wheel, for whatever reason, did not like you. But, you did the best you could, and you still ended up with a nice all-cash total there. Congratulations on that! In the end, as long as you had fun, I think that's what matters the most. After all, you came a long way to make it on stage. You have a lot to be proud of.

Megan, you did very well tonight! It's a shame you didn't win and that you had some bad luck, but $6,300 is nothing to sneeze at.
I got the first TU as quickly as you (probably w/ no letters!) and yep, it's mostly thanks to the theme.
I had R1 when the E's popped up. And more theming here and quite a few other puzzles...I'd limit it to 1-2 maingame puzzles outside o/ the 1st TU unless it's a holiday wk. or a different special wk.
My salute to Erich. He was really exciting to watch. But I was surprised he picked the H at the start and on $3,500...but then repeated it on the same space. Boy, lucky break for him - I thought it was COULD, too.
R4 had me confused until I looked up that activity. At first, I thought it was KEEPING MY LANTERN LIGHT. Were you thinking o/ that when you called the K, Megan?
Whoa, that BR puzzle was hecka long. I got the 2nd word w/ RSTLNE, though (reminds me of 5/13/11); didn't get the 1st word at all. Still, Erich did a great job w/ $20,200.
Again, the audience was amazing. They need this for all shows, period.
My rating: 7
I just had a gut feeling Carla from Mon. would be the only BR winner this wk...and I was right. Well, at least we got our 1st car win o/ the season there. This wk. gets a 7 out of 10 from me.

Even though Erich said that he should've known the bonus puzzle, he shouldn't have hung his head over that. I don't think there was any way he was going to get the bonus puzzle. With a J and a Q, I wouldn't have gotten that either. Furthermore, I was actually thinking the word started with a vowel. In fact all I could think of was EVALUATIONS, although I knew it was way too short.
Megan, I congratulate you on your $6200. I'm glad everyone won something tonight.
BTW, when was the last time we had a 14-letter word on the show?

Great show, Megan, although the Wheel seemed to have other plans for you. I'm glad you were able to walk away with a nice chunk of change!
As for the Prize Puzzle, I would have said "could" as well...Erich really lucked out on that one, and good for him! I thought he was going to be hitting those $3500 spaces all night! Erich, you must really have liked "H" to call it twice...I guess that's the letter that sets your name apart from conventional spelling!
(By the way, do any of you Wheel trivia buffs out there know if, as Pat surmised, a round has ever started with H being called?)
As for the Bonus Round, I knew the 2nd word after Erich called his letters, but like many of you, I simply wouldn't have come up with JOB in the allotted time.

Five times I remember (inc. this one). 11/21/06 (HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER) 11/24/11 (THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART) 11/29/13 (LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL, it was a dud) 12/5/13 (I LOVE YOU JUST THE WAY YOU ARE) 10/24/14 (NOTHING WOULD MAKE ME HAPPIER)

I RSTLNE'd the bonus round simply because I rememberd when just QUALIFICATIONS was a BR a couple years ago, and I know that they like to use JOB in the BR.

Does anyone think the letter Q is one of the trickiest letters in the bonus round? It has gotten easier over time. X and Z are not quite as predictable.

The good thing of "Wheel" is that, although you have bad luck with the Wheel, you can still get a decent score with Toss-Ups and Speed-Up, and it's not applied to "La Ruleta", where all Pruebas de Velocidad (Toss-Ups) are worth €100 (although it's true that there are four or five TUs played per show). So, congratulations, Megan! I couldn't believe the repeated H of Erich in R3. With his spin pattern he could have made an spectacular round, including the trip. And yeah, the BR was tough... And there has been only one BR won in this week

Erich was a hoot. He's been in a bunch of movies as an extra, and he was flirting with all the contestant coordinators backstage. Stephanie had a sly sense of humor and they made a good comedy pair. Erich was an alternate the day of my taping on July 10, didn't know he was in navy (he was not in uniform for my show), and we already had one person in uniform (his show airs tonight!). He was pretty funny, glad to see he did well. I'm on tomorrow!!! Can't wait!!!

Much thanks to Guint and his Puzzle Compendium. As soon as I found out that my theme was going to be The Great Outdoors I went through all the puzzles from the previous weeks looking at what they used for the themed puzzles. That's why I rang in so quickly on the first tossup. That's precisely one reason why the compendium exists. Great to see your research from it coming to your advantage. Take that, Wheel! :legend: I'm confused by this. Erich started Round 4 (with a Bankrupt). Where was there an edit in this round? I can't really spot any. (Any other edits while we're at it?)

Yes, I remember I started Round 4. It was my turn. I don't remember if Stephanie also bankrupted or called a letter that wasn't there. It is odd that they started with Erich bankrupting instead of starting over with me. Maybe it was a time issue. I don't see any other obvious edits.

You're right, I must have mixed up in my brain the bankrupt I got later that round with starting the round. Good thing I went on Jeopardy! before I lost my last remaining brain cell!
