Well, in the absence of anyone else having done it, here's a quick and dirty Friday recap. Apologies in advance for any rough edges or missing details, as the video I was using did not have captions available.
Episode 6220 - Trip of a Lifetime Sweepstakes #5
Taping Date: March 13, 2015
Airdate: May 15, 2015
$1,000 TOSS-UP: PHRASE
_ _ M P _ _
_ _ _ R S _ L F
Madison rings in, and she knows that it's always good to PAMPER YOURSELF. As a result, she takes the first thousand dollars of the night!
CONTESTANT INTERVIEWS:
Madison Weber is a civil engineer from Orangevale, California. She met her husband Joseph while completing grad school at UC Berkeley. Madison also enjoys acting as a wedding photographer, which she does on her weekends.
Gary Jenkins hails from North Charleston, South Carolina, where he is a plant controller. He has been married to his "sweet and sassy" wife, Christy, for ten years. They spend their free time volunteering with their church group, traveling, and trying out new restaurants (and playing Wheel, of course!).
Lauren Lee is visting Wheel from Waipahu, Hawaii (on the island of Oahu). She is a fourth-grade teacher at Solomon Elementary School there. When not teaching, she enjoys spending time paddling an outrigger and learning to ride a unicycle (or at last wanting to learn to ride one).
$2,000 TOSS-UP: PEOPLE
C I _ _ _ S
_ L O _ _ _
Gary identifies some CIRCUS CLOWNS and earns the right to the first spin - no joking about that!
TONIGHT'S FEATURED PRIZE: Collette tour of England, Scotland, and Wales - $10,698
TONIGHT'S GIFT TAG SPONSOR: Maui Jim ($1,000 gift certificate)
ROUND 1: BEFORE & AFTER
_ _ _ / _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _
_ _ / _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Gary starts with a $700 T. An E and four A's deplete most of that cash, so he's forced to take a second spin. The wheel goes back to $700, where he restocks with an S, but then his turn ends by way of the I being bad.
Lauren drops in on $650 for a trio of N's, then bags the Wild Card and $1,500 more cash with triple B's. She buys the O, then the light comes on...
T _ E / B _ A _ _
B _ N _ _
O _ / B A N A N A S
...and the mash-up that is THE BRADY BUNCH OF BANANAS gets her on the board with $3,200.
Dud: I (Gary)
Retired Unclaimed: $650 (Gary)
Madison: $1,000
Gary: $2,000
Lauren: $3,200
ROUND 2 (MYSTERY ROUND): EVENT
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ / _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ / _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Lauren won the last round, but this one starts off badly for her as she hits Bankrupt near Free Play. (That flushes the Wild Card, but Pat fails to take it from her right away.)
Madison has a somewhat better first attempt - she lands on the England/Scotland/Wales trip and takes it off the wheel with the T. That gives her $500 cash to work with, but she chooses to spin, hitting up $700 for an H. Smart play suggests an E, so she buys three of them, then rotates the wheel around to $650, getting four R's at that amount. Two A's take $250 from her bank, and then the Bankrupt near $3,500 takes the rest of it, including the trip.
Gary barely misses out on $3,500 himself, instead leaning on the nearby $500 (former home of the Wild Card) and calling for two B's. He continues picking pairs by buying the I's and then knocking out the N's on that same $500 space. After an assortment of singles - a $900 G, the O, and the U (the last vowel) - he decides to solve...
B R E A _ I N G / T H E
_ O U N _ / B A R R I E R
...and while he's not BREAKING THE SOUND BARRIER, he is ringing up $2,150 in cash. (At this point, Pat does also remember to claim Lauren's Wild Card.)
Bankrupt: Lauren (Wild Card), Madison ($3,300 + Trip)
Madison: $1,000
Gary: $4,150
Lauren: $3,200
ROUND 3 (PRIZE PUZZLE/EXPRESS ROUND): THINGS
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Madison gets to start a round now, and a pair of $700 S's is not a terrible way to do so. She buys four E's successfully, and then Free Play saves her bacon when she tries to repeat that same call. Coming off of that mistake, she redeems herself with three big R's on $3,500! She next buys two I's and then takes the Maui Jim gift tag and $500 for the M. Unfortunately, that just means she loses that much more on the Bankrupt near Free Play with her next spin.
Gary will have no chance to get any momentum, thanks to an immediate Lose a Turn.
Lauren does somewhat better with three $800 T's. However, the dud O forces her, too, to pass control of the wheel.
Madison is able to stop exactly in the center of the Million-Dollar Wedge, but the Y she yearns for is not there.
Gary barely clear the Bankrupt near Free Play to the $900, but is knocked out by the bad N.
Lauren gets the P for $500 (on the former home of the Wild Card) and then buys three A's...
A R _ _ I T E _ T _ R A _
M A S T E R P I E _ E S
...and those vowels allow her to lock up another $2,400 - and also enable her to see some ARCHITECTURAL MASTERPIECES on her trip to Spain! It's a Collette-sponsored tour of Spain valued at a whopping $10,798 - that gives her a total of $13,198 for the round!
Duds: O (Lauren), Y (Madison), N (Gary)
Bankrupt: Madison ($11,900 + Gift)
Lose a Turn: Gary
DQ: Madison's repeated E (saved by Free Play)
Madison: $1,000
Gary: $4,150
Lauren: $16,398
$3,000 TOSS-UP: FOOD & DRINK

Lauren eats up some DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE and banks another three grand!
ROUND 4: WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
_ _ _ _ _ _ / _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Lauren won't have hold of the wheel for long, as she immediately Bankrupts near Free Play.
Madison gets a couple of I's by way of Free Play, then a couple of N's for $900 each. But once she calls for the pair of A's, we get the bells...
_ A _ I N _ / A
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ I _ N
Final Spin: $500 (where the gift tag normally goes) -----> $1,500 per consonant
Madison: T - 1
Gary: G - 3
Lauren: M - 1
Madison: K - 1
M A K I N G / A

Madison is MAKING A SUGGESTION that is good enough to win her another $4,550 as we close out the game.
Bankrupt: Lauren (loss of turn)
Retired Unclaimed: $6,000 ($4,500 from Gary, $1,500 from Lauren)
MAINGAME TOTALS:
Madison: $5,550
Gary: $4,150
Lauren: $19,398
$100,000 BONUS ROUND:
Lauren has her three friends Leanne, Megan, and Dawn with her as her support. She spins the bonus wheel and lands on the apostrophe in AMERICA'S.
Her bonus puzzle is a THING. The standard six, RSTLNE, give her...
_ _ _ R L _
_ _ R E _ _ S T
Lauren chooses D, M, C, and O...
_ O _ R L _
_ O R E C _ S T
Despite getting some nice runs of letters, she blanks out, unable to even get a guess at HOURLY FORECAST. She loses out on the $32,000 minimum.
Lauren's Final Total: $19,398 ($8,600 cash, plus the Spain trip)
5K EVERY DAY SPIN ID: B 1324761 (this was supposedly announced as B-space)
In the closing chat, Pat and Vanna discuss the Brady Bunch, in conenction to the Round 1 puzzle. Vanna explains how her favorite Brady was always Marcia, and Pat does his impression of the Bradys in their individual squares during the show's opening sequence.
