Anyone else notice the promotion puzzle post-BR was WORLD CHAMPION? About as close to appropriate as it gets for this show.

I actually solved TU1 even faster than MarioGS did. I was clueless on TU2 (never heard of that song) and R3 ("Slide" wouldn't come into focus). Well played all around. I liked the subtle digs at some fandom tropes ("trip puzzle", "anything but $33,000"), and I'm proud that one of our own represented the show so well. Now when's my turn?

Mario, I gotta say I would never have imagined this would be your episode! I actually no-lettered the first two Toss-Ups and Round 1; when you solved that first puzzle with only the D, I thought, "Man, Robert's a really good player." Until Pat did your intro and totally took me by surprise. For shame that C dud in Round 2 outdid your bid for a sweep. Just glad Bonnie broke through when she did, because Noelle had very little opportunity to do the same. I had no clue what Round 5 was... It's a good thing you picked those letters, Mario, especially that Y. And even better to see $45,000 being won (at least your wish was granted - not $33,000)! And even way better to see Emil in the audience! Emil was absolutely right - you did fantastic! My rating: 9! This week's rating: 7.5 This could've been a perfect Bonus Round week if not for those losses midway through. Oh well. Let's hope our collegians (and fellow collegians on the boards) can give us a real good time next week!

Wow! Talk about owning the game! Glad to see you took full advantage of your chance to shine on the show MarioGS . "I've Got a Good Feeling About This" that the 1st toss-up will get more attention in the near future I have to ask, how much did the green room (or the crew for that matter) know about you involvement with the site? (I ask because I had a chuckle when Pat said you seem to know the rules). I will say I think you channeled a little bit of me when hitting Bankrupt (though nowhere near as close to moving the wheel) emilburp , did anyone recognize you? P.S. HEY ROBERT!: Before and after 4 words, 17 letters, 2 N’s, 1 V NEW PUZZLE Same Name 1 N, 2 D’s, 3 O’s

Holy cannoli, Robert Santoli...I'll be heading for the door now. You could've at least given them a *chance*, man. Good grief, that was a shellacking. For many reasons, this cracked me up: (hits Free Play) Pat: "That's a good place to be." MarioGS: "It is." As far as BAV members are concerned, Robert has now posted the second-highest total winnings of Season 33 (second only to theskiingbobs, I believe), and is the second BAV staffer to appear on the show. I wonder who the first was...

Mario, That first tossup solve was just awesome. Obviously you had the theme in mind, but I loved Noelle's look over at you afterwards like "Okay!" Haha! Nice solve on T2 too! Love the "Jersey Boys" as well! I love when there is an apostrophe in a Phrase puzzle... it helps speed things up rather nicely With R2, a bummer to dud out for sure, but I had no idea what that last word was. I haven't heard the term "HOME PAGE" for quite a while! T3 was definitely a close call but good on you for beating the ladies! Noelle must be kicking herself on calling the R in R4... did you save the Ms for last in hopes you would hit the 5000 wedge to cash in on the multiples? And as far as the BR, nice job, and way to not get the minimum For sure one of my favorite episodes of the season! Congratulations to you!

To be honest, I'm conflicted about this one. On the one hand, I'm happy to see another BAV moderator on Wheel; the fact we're two-for-two in BAV mods ransacking Harry's wallet helps, although I'm always happy when somebody around these parts does that. Great job on solving that first Toss-Up with one letter showing, and the screencap above made me smile. And I might as well ask since we tend to ask people who get on the show: were there any stopdowns during the taping or anything that was edited out? (Also, did BAV get a reference like the recap seems to indicate?) On the other hand, I think I would've been a lot more interested had anybody said "Hey guys, MarioGS is playing on March 25. Root for him! " rather than making a bunch of vague-ass comments (probably the most direct one I saw was Mario's Robert's avatar being a $325 wedge for a time). I wasn't online since about 6:00 last night, and I only learned he was on the show when I checked the newest discussion in the News section (which was also vague, although I suppose it wouldn't have been had I seen it before the show aired). I get wanting to surprise people if that was the intent, but...I don't know. My thoughts aside, and in all seriousness: congrats, Robert. Puzzles tonight were the standard type of lot, and the Trip Puzzle sucks (but that's nothing new). Your optimal Bonus Round picks for March 25, 2016:* I'll go with GFPO(C), since it helps both words about evenly and I think GOOFY would be harder to get.

ARGH! SO ANGRY RIGHT NOW! Forgot to set my alarm for 3am last night so I slept through the airing of this episode! That's it. I'm getting a DVR so this never happens again! Thankfully I did get a chance to see it beforehand via other means. I want to say this upfront: I can't think of anyone who played the game as well as Robert did. His knowledge of the game along with his epic puzzle solving skills put him in command of the game in a way I have never seen before. IMO, he has set a new bar for the show. Many in the social media world would agree with me based on their posts, even the ones who said it in a not-so-nice way. And the icing on the cake? His enthusiasm, sense of humor and expressiveness as a contestant. That alone along with basic solving skills would've made him great. Now on to my customary random thoughts: Failed to get TU1 because I wasn't thinking about places on a ship, but ones where a cruise ship might go. Failed to get TU2 because I wasn't familiar with those particular song lyrics. Sad, I know. In R1 Robert solved leaving all the singles on the board. Wonder if he would've still solved had he not landed on that cruise. Made me flash back to my close encounter with a cruise myself. In R2 I was totally convinced it was HOME SWEET HOME BASE up until the S was called. Wonder if Robert thought the same. In R3 I got confused for a bit thinking that the category was WAYD? and so was trying to come up with gerunds for the first word. D'oh! In R4 and R5, the $5K was nearly hit by each contestant and Pat himself in the Final Spin. Reminds me that both Bonnie and Noelle had a few chances to make some good money, but failed to capitalize. Oh, and thought the R5 was FORTY LASHES until the T was called. As for the BR, wow, just wow. PERFECT letter calls. I think I could've solved with just the G or the pair of Os. The Y by itself would've been tricky. Loved seeing Emil in the audience too. It was so fitting given the main game. One last thing. I'm even prouder than ever of my performance in my Stage 11 3/4 game with Robert. At least mechamind and I did capitalize on our chances to make some good money!
