I wouldn't mind seeing it 2 or 3 times a month but the fact that they want to do it every night scares me. I'm very skeptical about this

I think that they shouldn't do every night. Once or twice a week is enough... Or maybe during the first weeks it would be great to see it all nights, but not as a daily puzzle.

I think it should pop up the same way as SAME NAME or SAME LETTER. On average, once or twice a week. Too much of a good thing all at once is never good.

Once again, it was in Round 2, so it's probably fixed to that round (along with Mystery while R1 remains gimmick-less).

“Last year in Madrid I observed the production of ‘Wheel of Fortune’ in Spain. Seeing their success with the crossword round encouraged us to try it here.” I don't want to be pessimistic, but in La Ruleta this puzzle was retired eight months after its first appearance. Talk about revisionist history...

This puzzle was called "Panel Cruzado" and it was played between April 16, 2013 and January 8, 2014. Then, they changed it for the "Panel Desordenado", which is scrambled and is still played. If they were last year in Spain they couldn't see the original one, but its "evolution", the one that I wanted to see in Wheel. Let's see if they don't end up evolving it too...

I am still not sure I like it -- the clues right now are too easy which makes the letter-calling easy. Thing, Phrase, etc are so generic that the contestant doesn't really have an inkling on where to begin -- but when the clue is "Hot" and there is a three letter word? Yeah, I am starting with S & N.....
I guess time will tell on this one!

What would make a whole lot more sense than this is a "Pop Quiz" Puzzle where instead of a category, they players get a question and the puzzle is the answer to the question, it would have to be a fairly difficult question of course. ( Fun Fact: This is actually what the Vietnamese version does with all of their puzzles)

The first thing I thought of when the Crossword Puzzle came up was the German version. From what I can tell, all three players play the puzzle with no wheel. They call out a number of consonants and a vowel. They then have 30 seconds each, one at a time, to work on the puzzle. Very interesting.

For Season 34, the Crossword Puzzle is permanent. However, it is not daily and not exclusive to Round 2. It can also appear in at least Round 3 (yes, as a Prize Puzzle) and is expected to appear multiple times a week, but not every day. For Shopping Spree week, it appears on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; Round 2 on two of these days, Round 3 on one. Prize Puzzles are still expected to be the usual fare. The clue in this case was "Island Time". Thanks to trisspinner for this info.

The heck? Crosswords don't belong in Prize Puzzles. Unless it's just another budget scheme...

I was hoping the Crossword Puzzles would be used in round one instead of round three, but then again, Sony is probably having more budget issues, which is understandable. Just glad it's not only played for round two for the upcoming season.

Actually, having a Crossword Puzzle as a Prize Puzzle will have a slight impact on the scores--that's one less instance of a consonant that could be awarded.
Of course I still think the game is entirely broken with it, but hey, it could make a small difference...

Tris also confirmed from the taping that order does not matter when solving Crossword puzzles, as long as you don't add anything (which apparently was a problem in Spain).

Crossword is permanent? Ew. I think most of us guessed that given the page Wheel made so people could voice their opinion wasn't so much "What do you think about this?" or "Do you want to keep seeing this on the show?" as it was "How often do you want us to use Crossword each week next season?" I'm pretty sure they were gonna make this permanent in Season 34 regardless of how people felt about it. For Season 34, the Crossword Puzzle is permanent. However, it is not daily and not exclusive to Round 2. It can also appear in at least Round 3 (yes, as a Prize Puzzle) Aaaaand once again the show botches their one good idea for the season. Tris also confirmed from the taping that order does not matter when solving Crossword puzzles, as long as you don't add anything (which apparently was a problem in Spain). Didn't someone around here (Javier?) mention that said problem was players adding "and" when solving?
