Hi Everyone! You know, it’s hard enough keeping a secret for a week, much less for over two *years*, particularly when it involves Wheel of Fortune , but I’m FINALLY able to share the news that I was invited back to play Wheel of Fortune one more time! Wheel of Fortune notified me back in mid-December 2017 (a couple weeks after my show aired) that there was a production issue involving my bonus round puzzle category, and in the interest of fairness, invited me back! I was told not to share the news with anyone, so I’ve had to keep my lips zipped until they gave me the green light to post my airdate today. My episode will air on Monday, April 6th!
Pat will reference my return on the show, and I'll answer questions about it after the show airs.
I was obviously overjoyed at being invited back, and I am incredibly thankful to the executive producer, Harry Friedman, and the rest of the Wheel staff for doing this. They obviously didn’t have to, but I am incredibly grateful that they did. Tune in on Monday, April 6th to see how I did the second time around!

Can't wait to see you again, Tony. Why did they wait so long and what was wrong with the Bonus puzzle on your original episode if the show told you? Also, did you still get your winnings from your 2017 appearance?

an007 told me on his recap blog that he heard about it from WoF Alums (a contestant group on Facebook). It looks like the reason he was invited back was because his Bonus puzzle (ON THE HIGHWAY; categorized as Phrase) was more appropriate for Place. EDIT: It was HIGHWAY, not NIGHT. Andy said it was NIGHT.

So someone won a grievance on a bad BR category after all...
This kinda opens a can of worms, in theory. I mean, tonight's BR was not any category....

That's why they need to appeal in order for something to be done about it. Nobody on the staff is going to say, "Hmm... Harry, don't you think that's more Event than Thing?", etc.
Back when the episode aired, Tony asked me to research any previous "(preposition) THE..." Phrase puzzles, and I did come up with a few, but wished him luck with the appeal anyway. I found out about this at the same time as the rest of you, and I can't wait to see how things turn out. Tony's been keeping some impressive Bonus Round letter stats since then.
Also, being an LA local, Tony was an alternate before he taped his first episode. That means he now owns three name tags!

^For reference, Tony's alternate taping was on August 24, 2017 for the last Halloween week (so far), which aired on October 30-November 3. LeafApollo and iroc24 appeared on that week.

So happy for Tony, but suddenly wishing I was granted a second chance in 1998 for not being able to see the used letter board due to a bright light shining in my face in spite of having brought up issue after multiple rounds.

First off, congratulations Tony on killing your return episode! That being said, we may never know all of the reasons behind why this return was allowed, but I question the fairness behind it, including fairness to the other contestants on that episode. If I were them, I would be furious! Potential unpopular opinion ahead..... I am likening this to my experience and taping back in Season 31 ;From the minute that I arrived on set, there was encouragement from the production staff (as well as some "hinting," that was in the form of clues that they were giving you- it is a game show after all!) to succeed every step of the way. From the breakdown of logistics for the day, to practice spinning, to meeting Vanna before our tapings started, to sitting in the green room waiting to be brought out to the live set, there was no doubt- THEY WANT YOU TO DO WELL! After my episode aired ( where I did great! Solved almost every puzzle, including all toss ups and the bonus round ), I looked back and realized exactly why it is a "one time and done" experience. It's because once your taping goes live and Pat and Wanna come out, you have one shot- 22 minutes long, with a 1 and 3 chance of being the big winner.... and what happens/what you do with that opportunity is what makes for such great ratings. There are multiple factors that weigh on this- including the luck of the wheel, the toss ups, logical puzzle solving, and emotions like excitement, nerves, confidence, etc. Tony got to do all of that once before, and naturally had a leg up over the other contestants. His performance speaks to it; though some luck may have to do with it, it is not by chance that he was able to "clean house" the way he did upon his return. It will be hard to convince me otherwise, but I welcome other fan's and former contestants' thoughts. I really hope that this opens up a "tournament of champions," where I would be more than happy to participate!
