Give him time. He didn't reinvent the Big Wheel overnight either. Be lucky we're getting anything at all with this pandemic.

I know they’re going to modify the wheel itself but what about the bonus wheel and envelopes? I mean, 5 different contestants will be touching it all week. The wheel hasn’t been modified, rather the podiums around it have been widened to account for distancing requirements. Think of the gray ledge looking more like a C now, with the bulk of the extra being over near Pat. Pat is now far enough from the wheel he has to take a step or two toward the red player to do his final spins. The most noteworthy change is the contestants hold an apparatus that they slide over the spoke to spin the wheel so they don’t touch the wheel spokes directly. Oh wow. Interesting to see what these will look like. Will contestants still be picking up the cardboard wedges?

In all honestly, the BR minimum thing doesn't bother me as much as the stagnant, robotic puzzle writing. That's the easiest thing to change. We shall see.

Maybe if all goes well with the writing, we could finally have a season with more than one $100K win, or better yet, finally another millionaire.

Well, the ever-increasing minimum still means that they won't be able to afford more than one BR win a week, so we'll probably see their usual pattern of aiming for 2-3 wins a week through December, then 0-1 wins for most of the rest of the season. Let's see what form of JACKRABBIT comes up in Spring 2021.

Since the wheel was redesigned to accommodate social distancing measures, I wonder if this means there will be an entirely new set or if this is just a minor modification to the current set. We’re long overdue for a complete overhaul of the set, as the last time it happened was the neonification in 2003. The only things from 2003 that have remained the same through Season 37 are the Wheel's base and the puzzle board border. Everything else has been upgraded since then. What about the two video screen borders...are they not the originals from 2003?

^ Pretty sure the screen behind the contestants was square or 4:3 back then. It's 16:9 now. The center stage one is still 4:3, though.

Oh wow. Interesting to see what these will look like. Will contestants still be picking up the cardboard wedges? Yes. The difference is that if they lose them, they are removing them from their wedge ledge and setting them aside on their own vs. passing them in to Pat.

I think the contestant backdrop has been 16x9 since very early on. The first incarnation in September 1998 was 5x5 individual screens, and a row was eliminated in the height in December 1998 so it was 4x5...meaning it was more of a 16x9 shape which it essentially maintained since i believe, even with the updating of the screens themselves.

The most noteworthy change is the contestants hold an apparatus that they slide over the spoke to spin the wheel so they don’t touch the wheel spokes directly. Seems like an interesting setup but I'm having trouble understanding this new spinning mechanism. I get that the contestants no longer touch the handles (I assume this is what is meant by here by "spoke"), but has there been something installed on the wheel? Is the contestant slipping a cover on the handle before making the spin - and if so, does the contestant pick it back up before making the next spin? Thanks for the report.

For greater distancing, they are now using the Jeopardy! studio as the green room for Wheel contestants (and vice-versa), although Wheel also did this whenever they taped team weeks in the past.

Are they currently selecting contestants from the nationwide contestant pool, or are they keeping it local? (Apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere)

They're keeping it local for now, at least when it comes to auditioning new contestants.

Interesting word choice, there (emphasis added)... Of course, I'd love to see someone reach through a computer monitor to try spinning the Wheel. /s

The most noteworthy change is the contestants hold an apparatus that they slide over the spoke to spin the wheel so they don’t touch the wheel spokes directly. I'm reminded of what I've seen once in a promo of La Ruota d'Oro in Italy: a fork-like object that they mount on two spokes of the wheel, which I presumed was there to accommodate players who couldn't reach the wheel's pegs.

I was on Wheel's site just now, and I decided to read about an upcoming sweepstakes that will take place on the week of September 21st. While there, I saw some photos toward the bottom of the page (specifically the last two photos) that offer a sneak peek of the new podiums. www.wheeloffortune.com/win/cookie-jam-giveaway
