According to Google's episode listings, Season 38 is scheduled to premiere on September 14, the week after the "unofficial" Season 37 finale. Only the first episode of the season is listed so far, with the title "Episode 1", rather than the expected Teacher's Week.
Although Google has always been right in the past, this does not mean it's confirmed. Other sources claim that S38 will premiere two weeks later on September 28 with the usual theme weeks continuing, starting with Teacher's Week. It's always possible that "Episode 1" is a leftover placeholder from how S38 would have premiered if not for COVID.

On my Directv guide when I go to the show I press the info button then I select "All Seasons" and the available seasons are Season Premiere, Season 37, Season 36, and Season 33. When I click on Season Premiere it says "Coming: Mon, Sep 14" at the top of the screen

I would wait for the show to officially provide the season premiere date rather than using program guides right now.

If September 14 is the premiere date, then I would be ecstatic, although I'd be cool with September 28 as well. You shouldn't rely on program guides unless they're accurate. You should only use electronic services like the internet and Wheel of Fortune's Facebook page. Would Jeopardy start on September 14 as planned or September 28 if it was moved? I think NBC and CBS are trying to move ahead with their fall schedules, the CW's fall season is on repeat, unsure about ABC and FOX though. I feel like the fall television season won't start until November at the latest (just my opinion). President Trump said this week that three coronavirus vaccines are in the final stages of testing and doing really well so one should be approved by the FDA sooner than we think.

I guess the two shows don't necessarily need to start their seasons on the same date, but I would think that's what Sony and affiliates prefer and they may well wait to have both premiere the same date rather than having one start before the other.

They sure never had a problem with one ending their season way after the other, though.

They sure never had a problem with one ending their season way after the other, though. And that goes all the way back into the shopping era of Wheel, and when Alex Trebek himself was still producer of Jeopardy!, so you can't hang that one on Harry.

I'd definitely keep a close eye on this as the date approaches us. Could be a clerical error.

It isn't reasonable to expect a full 39-week slate for this season, is it?

It isn't reasonable to expect a full 39-week slate for this season, is it? I don’t think anyone really knows the answer to that right now.

You'd think that if everything goes reasonably well, they might actually try to do tapings more frequently to start with, in order to get more in just in case there should be issues that would cause them to have to stop along the way (both from the conditions in general and after having run into that last year with Pat being out for a time).

Well, they are still following the usual "two days every two weeks" pattern for both game shows, from what I've heard.

Jeopardy!'s season finale week is rerunning September 7-11, which is further evidence that the shows' season premieres will be the 14th.

^ That's great. My Directv guide has the 9/14 episode listed as Teachers Week but the rest of the week are placeholders. My guide does not go past 9/17. Does it tell you what the rerun for 9/19 and 9/26 are?

^ No. Since I watch on ABC, I will be preempted on Saturdays starting September 12, due to College Football. My station, WABC, does not have the reruns listed at all, though they usually air them overnight.

Does it tell you what the rerun for 9/19 and 9/26 are? 9/19 is now close enough that it appears on Zap2It for other markets. It’s still a placeholder.
