Previously on Wheel of Fortune, game show veteran Andy Kravis killed the front game with $25,550 cash & Bahamas trip even though Sabrina Stephenson threatened his BR berth in R4. He would then ace the bonus puzzle of WORLD MAP (Thing; WDPO) and almost double his total there. Can any of these student be as skilled as Andy last night? We'll find out right about now.

Nick's HITTING THE BOOKS. Thursday's collegians...
Nick Lamantia (Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison sr.): Arlingon Heights, IL. Finance major who enjoys sports and playing guitar (something which I should do more often).
Lauren Kaseman (Univ. of MI sophomore): Highland Park, IL. Business major who also enjoys sports.
Valerie Brown (Valparaiso Univ. sr.): Chesterton, IN. Marketing and public relations major engaged to Tyler (he's in the audience).
Lauren also says hi to her mouth family...and Pat says that he puts a W on his stomach.
$2,000 Tossup: Food & Drink
_ _ B M _ R _ _ E
_ A _ D _ I C _
Nick chomps up a SUBMARINE SANDWICH to triple up.
Featured Prize: Contiki tour of Europe (London, Amsterdam, Rhine Valley, Munich, Lucerne and Paris) worth $7,000
$10,000 Round: Before & After

Nick starts with 2 T's for $1,200 (near BANKRUPT), an $1,100 R pair, four E's and A, an N for the WILD CARD, but then the sole dud vowel of I. Second, Lauren calls up a $500 S, but then D for dud on $500. Third, Valerie wastes a turn with the normal BANKRUPT. Returning to Nick who picks 2 F's for MY RICH UNCLE, the other two vowels (2 O's & U), a $2,500 L (Pat didn't remind him of the WC), and 2 H's for Europe.

In this fake game of HAMSTER WHEEL OF FORTUNE, he's won $11,800 cash & trip.
Duds: I (Nick), D (Lauren)
Bankrupt: Valerie
Valerie: Bankrupt Victim
Nick: $14,800 cash & trip + WC
Lauren: Spinning Next
Nick should've used the WC on $2,500...at least he has that trip.

Eggland's Best Jackpot/25 Round: Event
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ / _ ($5,000)
_ _ _ _ _ / _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
Both girls run into instant penalties (Lauren on the same BANKRUPT and Valerie on LOSE A TURN). Going to Nick already who says 2 T's for the Free SPIN, but then R for rats on $800 and decides to not use his FS. Lauren lights up a $900 S (almost got that same BANKRUPT), a single A, but then M for mistake on $800. Valerie tries a $600 N pair, two I's, a $400 G (near $550), four O's, but then H for hush on the same $600 (she thought the first word was HOSTING). Nick then says $300 P and V singles...
P O S T I N G / A ($9,700)
V I _ _ O / O N

...and he will likely be POSTING A VIDEO ON YOUTUBE on his experience after solving for $1,200.
Duds: R (Nick), M (Lauren), H (Valerie)
Lose a Turn: Valerie
Bankrupt: Lauren
Valerie: Spinning Next
Nick: $16,000 cash & trip + WC + FS

V8 Mystery/Big Money Round: Things (Also The Prize Puzzle)
_ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
Valerie hits LOSE A TURN right away just like the last round. Nick's gonna regret using his WC in R1 as he runs into that same doggone BANKRUPT and he uses the FS this time. His next picks are a $300 R, four $800 S's (almost got LOSE A TURN nearby), E & two A's, but then T for terrible on the MYSTERY (near $900). After Lauren gets LOSE A TURN, Valerie uncovers a $1,600 N pair, a single I, a $7,000 P pair, and a $600 H pair. Her next spin lands on BIG MONEY...displaying $7,500...but says a CRITICAL DUD of L, so at least $8,950 may very well be going down the drain for her. After Nick buys two O's...
_ O _ _ O N
S P A N I S H
P H R A S E S
...he wins another $2,750 and will hear some COMMON SPANISH PHRASES on his second trip to MEXICO (Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Holistic Retreat & Spa in Cabo San Lucas) worth $5,040.
If you have Spin ID CT07426, time expired long ago. Did you have a Sony Card?
Duds: T (Nick), L (Valerie)
Lose a Turns: 2 (girls)
Valerie: Zero
Nick: $23,790 cash & trips
Lauren: Same as Valerie
Pat's calling this the Nick Lamantia show.

$3,000 Tossup: People

Valerie blanks out (I would've said OPTICIANS).
O P T I _ I S T S
For the third episode in a row, we have a tossup sweep - Nick maintains his perfection bid with OPTIMISTS.
Speedup: Around The House
_ _ _ _ _ / _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ / _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Final Spin: $1,300
Not quite to $5,000. Also, I expected a full R4 speedup this time given the way things are going.
Nick: 3 R's
Lauren: 2 S's
Valerie: 2 T's
Nick: N
Lauren: P
Valerie: 2 L's
_ L _ _ R / P L _ S T _ _
S _ _ _ _ R / _ _ R T _ _ N
Valerie spoils Nick's maingame sweep bid by solving CLEAR PLASTIC SHOWER CURTAIN for her only $5,200 on the night.
Final Scores:
Valerie: $5,200
Nick: $26,790 cash & trips
Lauren: $1,000 Flunk-Out
Maingame Total: $32,990
Bankrupt Trash: WILD CARD
---
$100,000 Bonus Round
With his parents (Dad trained him, Mom fed him) and sister Angie watching, Nick lands on the S of CASH.
Category: Thing
RSTLNE gives 3/10th of the answer...
_ _ R T _
_ _ _ _ R
DCPA gives him most of the first word and on the bottom...
P A R T _
_ A _ _ R
...but he BLOWS IT with PARTY MAKER. He could've bought a big PARTY FAVOR with $30,000, so he's out with $26,790 cash & trips.
Closing Chat: It will soon be 100 years that the Cubs didn't win a World Series (but that would get broken in 2016). Also, to start a fight with Chicago audiences, Pat has White Sox fans make some noise...and Cubs fans make some noise later.
My Rating: 6
For some reason, when uploading my first draft of this, the site crashed on me. That's why I mostly copied from Andy Nguyen's recap of the episode.
