Previously on Wheel of Fortune, Nick Lamantia almost swept the entire maingame, taking home $26,790 cash & trips. That is what he left with since he didn't know anything about a PARTY FAVOR (Thing; DCPA) for $30K. Will these students give us a magical ending to a pretty good first week in Chi-Town? We'll see in a moment.

Kelsey Kapral (Indiana Univ. jr.): Western Springs, IL. Exercise science major who's aspiring to be a physical therapist later. On the school's varsity rowing team (the team's taking a trip the day after taping).

She's $15,450 richer and is going to THE FORTY-NINTH STATE; it's a trip to ALASKA (Millennium Alaskan Hotel Anchorage + Alaska Airlines) worth $6,200 and she's won $21,650 that round! MAJOR PERFECTION!
If you have Spin ID CS19647, I'd suggest you not check right now. Were you a Sony Card holder?
Pre-Round 2 Scores:
Kelsey: Nothing yet.
Deb: $24,650 cash & trip
Mike: Spinning Next
Pat whispered the PP location to Deb before the trip description.

Eggland's Best Jackpot/25 Round: People

Already in a deep hole, Mike starts with 2 T's for American Apparel, 2 S's on $900, 2 E's, a $300 R, but then N for no on $400 (near $550). Kelsey calls a C on the same $400, but then hits BANKRUPT (near $600). We do immediately get back to her since Deb hits LOSE A TURN and Mike calls L for loss on the WILD CARD. She calls 4 M's on the WILD CARD (waste!)...but maybe she can make up for it if she can solve on JACKPOT after calling a D (she hesitated before choosing that letter)...
M _ S M _ C _ E D ($7,500)
R _ _ M M _ T E S
...she does with MISMATCHED ROOMMATES for $8,000 (incl. $7,500 pot). She's also starting the next round, so that cardboard could be quite essential in catching up.
Duds: N & L (Mike)
Lose a Turn: Deb
Bankrupt: Kelsey
Pre-Round 3 Scores:
Kelsey: $8,000 + WC
Deb: $24,650 cash & trip
Mike: Nothing yet.

_ _ _ / _ _ _ _ _ _
Kelsey begins this one with a $1,600 T pair, 3 E's, but then BANKRUPT (near $3,500) to give up the $1,350 remainder and that WC. Deb picks 2 $800 R's, 2 S's on that $400, but then accidentally repeats the E. Mike calls an H on the MYSTERY (near $900) and takes the obvious gamble...but he won't like it.
Kelsey calls a $1,800 C pair and will solve...actually she won't. Next are 2 F's for $600 & the Free SPIN and now she'll solve.
C _ F F E E / _ _ T H
C R E _ _ / _ _ _
T _ _ / S _ _ _ R S
She has some COFFEE WITH CREAM AND TWO SUGARS for another $2,400.
Bankrupts: 2 (Deb's opponents)
DQ: Deb's E repeat
Pre-Tossup 3 Scores:
Kelsey: $10,400
Deb: $24,650
Mike: Risk of getting Flunked Out
Deb said "Oh Shoot!" when she repeated the E. Also, I'd thought Kelsey would have trouble with the fifth word instead of the second (I'm not a coffee drinker.).

$3,000 Tossup: On The Map
_ O K Y O

No, we won't have a fourth player flunking out this week - Mike locates TOKYO, JAPAN.
Round 4: Phrase
_ _ _ _ ' _ / _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ / _ _ _ _ _ _
Mike has a chance to get back into this as he calls a $10,000 S pair. His next call is 2 $600 R's and it's speedup time already...

THAT'S THE RIGHT ANSWER, Kelsey, and you've won another $6,400 for a nice 2nd-place total.
Final Scores:
Kelsey: $16,800
Deb: $24,650 cash & trip (all from the 1st segment)
Mike: $3,000
Maingame Total: $44,450
Bankrupt Trash: $1,750 + $1,000 Gamble + WC
---
$100,000 Bonus Round
Deb's parents and brother watch her spin up to the 1.
Category: Fictional Character (our last appearance for quite a while)
RSTLNE reveals 3/10th of the puzzle like last night...
_ E _ _
_ N _ _ _ T
BDMO only gives her just the D...
_ E D _
_ N _ _ _ T
...but she gets JEDI KNIGHT on the halfway mark and wins the Solstice Convertible worth $27,675! Her final total of the night is $52,325 cash & prizes - that car was really made for her!
And if you're Spin ID PG0778016, why do I even bother? And yes, obvious Sony Card tingy.
Closing Chat: We've wrapped up the first week of Chi-Town, families are playing all next week...and Pat has eaten 17 Chicago Dogs (out of a possible 51) so far this remote.
My Rating: 8
Even though we only got 2 BR wins this week, this is a pretty good start to the remote! Our college students took home $268,865 cash & prizes this week. Of course, this wouldn't be the peak of this remote. Highlights? Well, I'd say the BR wins on Wednesday and Friday (Andy Kravis on the former), $20K+ maingames all this week (and heck, a couple of $30K+ maingames as well). We had someone win the gold $10K on Monday, the $25K on the Big Money Wedge on Tuesday, and the main game Jackpot this episode.
Next week is Family Style, and...you already knew how it went.
