I'm happy to see you uploaded this one! I actually have this episode in my collection, but the intro on my copy is partially cut off and I've only got the BR to the point where the additional letters are revealed, so this is the first time in over 20 years I've seen the full episode. Thanks!
The audience was clearly excited, probably because this was the first time Wheel filmed in New Orleans. Pat seemed to tell them to quiet down more times than usual and the cheering actually caused Pat to miss the buzzer during the speed-up.
Also, I looked up "Double-Cross," Hasselhoff's show he was promoting. Just two and a half months after this episode aired, financial problems caused the show to get pulled, so not a single episode ever aired. Kind of makes his speech a bit awkward.

Plus, they had a house band in Rockin' Dopsie Jr. and the Zydeco Twisters. I always loved Wheel from New Orleans.
