Yeah, that definitely looks like sands through the an hourglass.
I'm left wondering if whatever happens on 9/23 will actually be "big" and/or a "first time in Wheel history" thing.

Reading the comments, I noticed someone mentioned it could be Vanna wearing the same dress twice, and honestly, that's the most plausible explanation I've heard so far. That fact that Vanna never wears the same dress twice is everywhere, so actually doing it would technically be noteworthy. If that's what it is, it wouldn't actually be the first time in Wheel history. alexb1186 can show you several "repeat offenders" and even "three-peats", all of which I believe are from the 80's and early 90's. If this is the case (and knowing Wheel, it probably is), it would most likely be the first time in the 21st century, though. Here's Vanna wearing the same dress three times in nighttime Season 6 alone.

I saw a comment on Instagram about the something big being the first male million dollar winner on the show. We haven’t had a million dollar winner since Sarah Manchester on 9/17/2014, and we’ve had 5 lose the million dollar prize in the bonus round (first one in Season 32, then we had one in Season 35, and the next three in Season 36). But when I looked at the show’s close just after the bonus round, Pat and Vanna were talking about the hourglass and sand pouring into it in an hour. So my guess is the 9/23 episode will be an hour long.

the first male million dollar winner Wheel would have really hyped it up much more if it was a million dollar winner. Plus, where was the million in today's episode? So my guess is the 9/23 episode will be an hour long I'm not saying that's impossible, but the only way for that to have a logistical chance of happening would be if Jeopardy! didn't have an episode that day. That is not happening. The only things I could realistically see happen that involves a timed, gameplay-significant element are more fudging around with the TTU or for some reason the BR timer gets bumped up to 15 seconds, but even then, a gameplay change randomly on the eighth episode makes nearly no sense.

I saw a comment on Instagram about the something big being the first male million dollar winner on the show. There are a couple of guys in the Wheel fandom that have this obsession with getting a male million dollar winner. It was probably one of them who made that comment. One of them posts "Will we get a male million dollar winner this season?" in the show's Facebook group every other week. I'm not saying that's impossible, but the only way for that to have a logistical chance of happening would be if Jeopardy! didn't have an episode that day. That is not happening. Remember that most of the Central and Mountain Time Zones (and Hawaii) don't pair Wheel and J! together (and many don't even air them on the same station), because they air news at 6:00, so Wheel is the only program between news and primetime in these cases. These stations wouldn't be able to air an hour-long episode of Wheel, unless they decide to drop their 6:00 news for a day. If they did want to do an hour-long Wheel, they'd just talk to ABC about doing it as a primetime special, or they'd do what they had to do with Michael Larson's games of Press Your Luck and split the episode into two parts. That's not happening, either. It's 99% the dress thing.

It's 99% the dress thing. If so, that's blatant false advertising, not to mention really pedantic and a stupid reason to bring out an hourglass.

Either a male millionaire or hopefully a new bonus wheel with twice the prize envelope slots the current bonus wheel has.

It hasn't, but since nothing like that happened on Thursday's episode, it can't be that.

Welp, that was disappointing lol.
In all seriousness, I was really hoping for something more exciting, like the first male millionaire.

I knew from the start it would be nothing big. A male millionaire is too esoteric to note ahead of time like that. It's only an interesting side note to most. Plus, the clues said "observant fans" will want to watch closely for something within the first two weeks.

I definitely expected something like this, yeah it’s cool considering it’s one of the most FAQ about the show, but it really is not that big of a deal when you look at the show as a whole.

This reminds me of when this also happened with Price is Right several years ago. An anonymous employee for the show posted on golden-road.net that "something that's never happened before" would be happening on an upcoming episode. Fans immediately began speculating wild things like a Quadruple Showcase Win or a full $50,000 win in Plinko. It ended up simply being that a contestant "fell ill" while in Contestants' Row and her sister had to take her place for the rest of the show. She made it on stage, lost a car in One Away, and did not make it to the Showcase.

solving the puzzle isn’t a long shot What about BUYING A JUICER from last season? Or VALOR AND BRAVERY (the first word's kinda hard to pronounce)? Or JOT DOWN A FEW WORDS (JOT is NOT an easy word to get)?

Or JOT DOWN A FEW WORDS (JOT is NOT an easy word to get)? The only one of those that I thought was impossible was BUYING A JUICER. 98% of people aren’t getting that, even with the right letters. Some solves are worth hyping up, but others not really. Those last two, while good, didn’t really scream impressive.

I actually still can’t believe they hyped this up so much. Watch them hype something else like, “Oh, first $38K win of the season!”

It's the dress thing. [picture snipped] ...of course it is... Aside from my previous comments, even if this had been a first...who cares? Seriously, it's a damn dress. So exciting! Give Wheel's publicity team a raise! I say give them a cardboard sign and send them to the nearest off-ramp.
