This is why we watch. Not only for the gut punch, but the random acts of insanity that make you cheer for total strangers, the brothers doing "YMCA," or the wife jumping into her husbands arms which led to the greatest ad lib between Pat & Vanna, etc, etc, etc).
There's a reason this show has been on so long.
I'll never quit watching. Hopefully, you won't either.
Tough competition for Thursday night with a popular sitcom, a series premiere, and a season premiere.
The NFL will be in the playoffs at the time of the Sunday rerun, and there's no first round games in Sunday primetime (though NBC could have something else new that Sunday night). Also, CBS typically airs the Sunday 1pm game so there won't be an overrun to worry about.
Scratch the second line- NBC is indeed airing a game Sunday at 8 and CBS at 4:30. I forgot there are 6 games on the first weekend this season.
I like the set from the previews we've seen in general and the black and gold look great together, but I feel like they've gone a little much with the gold.
Really happy to see ABC promoting this so much. It's easily gotten the most promo out of the three Winter Fun & Games shows. I was worried ABC would give the most attention to The Chase since J!GOAT was one of their biggest successes of last year. I've seen a decent amount of Chase promo, but hardly anything for The Hustler, although it's the only one of the three that's getting a "sneak preview" airing next Monday after The Bachelorette, much like they did for Press Your Luck.
There were a lot of CWOF promos aired during New Year's Rockin' Eve last night, including a banner at one point. There was also an ad for it on the score chyron throughout today's College Football game; it was the only non-sports ad they ran.
A couple other minor observations: the show will be rated TV-PG L. Looks like one of the celebs either can't control their mouth, or we get a reprise of "Spin the damn Wheel." Hustler is also TV-PG L while Chase is just TV-PG. Secondly, CWOF will be airing episodes in the order they were taped (so far), the only ABC primetime game show to do so (unless you count J!GOAT). All the other ones air them out of order, usually ordered strategically for the best ratings based on how notable the episode is. Chase is starting with ep 109, and Hustler is airing ep 105 on Monday and 103 on Thursday.
I'm not surprised The Hustler is TV-PG L because Craig Ferguson is known to have a dirty mouth, but it'll be funny if one of the celebrities did swear on Wheel.
After a long 30 years, my childhood dream finally came true! Thanks, Wheel Of Fortune!
In Phoenix, CWOF will be on at the same time as the syndicated version. The latter airs on KTVK at 7:00 PM Mountain, which is the start of primetime in that time zone. It's one of only two independent stations to regularly air Wheel, and it's the only one that airs it in primetime itself rather than the hour prior. CWOF will air on competitor KNXV, which carried the syndie version from 2003-2012, after which it moved back to KTVK when the E.W. Scripps Company dropped Wheel and Jeopardy! from all its stations. Despite the overlap between the two Wheels, KTVK is not moving syndie Wheel to another slot on Thursdays. I wonder if syndie Wheel will lose a significant amount of viewers in Phoenix on Thursdays. Of course, this was also true for J!GOAT, but with the second half.

Given Wheel is the only one of the three that is an established name (The Chase was on GSN first but not very notable outside the network and Hustler is brand new), I'm not that surprised Wheel is getting the most publicity. It's also the only one of the three with celebrity contestants, which appeals to more casual fans. I'm a little surprised The Chase isn't getting plugged more given Ken, Brad, and James are the Chasers, maybe since it's not an actual spinoff of Jeopardy ABC didn't feel it was as strong of a lead for the block as Celebrity Wheel.
^ There was a bit with the Chasers and Sara explaining facts about Auld Lang Syne that aired just a couple minutes before the ball drop. I didn't see anything like that with Pat and Vanna. They also aired a CWOF promo during the first break after the drop, followed immediately by a Chase promo. Didn't spot any Hustler promos. I vividly remember a J!GOAT promo airing during the last commercial break before the drop last year.

I'm honestly very glad to see all this promo for CWOF, especially the past little bit as we get closer and closer to its premiere (four more days ). I know that might've been a given, since this is Wheel's first stint on primetime, but it's still exciting to see. I hope the name power of people like Leslie Jones and Chrissy Metz help to bring in more viewers my age who haven't seen the show otherwise and see how fun the game is. I absolutely LOVE the changes made to the set and I hope they're retained on the syndie version, whether it be later on this season or at the beginning of Season 39.
Sheesh! Almost all the replies to ABC’s most popular ad for the show are negative. 😞 And a lot of people aren’t going to watch because Pat Sajak is still hosting it.

Concern on Pat Sajak aside, one post gives us more of the theme, and, props to Bleeding Fingers Music for a job well done. It looks like they’ve added more piano to the theme.
First, a clip showing a Toss-Up missolve and confirming another matchup: Rachael Leigh Cook/Sherri Shepherd/Kevin Nealon.
Second, Tony Hawk's intro.
Third, a clip of Leslie Jones recounting her love for Wheel before Sweep, likely taken from the start of the second half. (Warning: major score spoiler for Leslie)

Chandra, with $6,550, accidentally repeats a wrong V, then condescendingly tells Tony that she did a lot of work for him, and that he's probably just going to solve it. Pat says that they will "add $10,000" if Tony solves. He does, though the video cuts off right as he starts to speak, and the puzzle is not shown, but it sounds like it starts with an "S" sound.
Partway through the puzzle CELEBRITY LOOK-ALIKE, Leslie lands on one of the MDW's and tries to pick it up right away, but Pat stops her and tells her "it's electrified". She gets to pick it up with two K's, but when being told she has to spin again since she has no money, she says, "That is really not cool." She spins $900 and gets a C, and exclaims "What?!" (as seen in one of the promos), to which Pat asks, "If you didn't think it was there, why'd you call it?" It is this puzzle that she eventually solves for $400 and the MDW, as the third clip shows.
The series premiere will rerun on Sunday, January 10 at 8:00 PM Eastern/Pacific, replacing Supermarket Sweep, which wraps up its first season the week prior. This is only a one-time thing;
Good news. Starting with the second week, CWOF will rerun the following Saturday at 8:00 ET/PT, right after syndie WOF reruns in many markets. Chase will follow at 9:00. No sign of any reruns for Hustler; 10:00 on 1/16 is a rerun of For Life.
