The premiere of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune was the highest rated program of the evening in both total viewers and the 18-49 demographic! In fact, all three of ABC's game shows won their time slots. CWOF beat NBC's premiere of Mr. Mayor by almost 3 million viewers. The season premiere of Hell's Kitchen was second place in 18-49 for the 8:00 time slot, but it had over 2 million less viewers than Mr. Mayor and 5 million less than CWOF. CBS had all reruns on Thursday night, but the Young Sheldon rerun got almost as many viewers as Mr. Mayor. This only counts live viewers. Obviously, all these numbers will go up when delayed viewing is accounted for. Good lord, that's a blowout. Nothing even came close except The Chase.
I'm gonna hazard a guess and say that Mike, Sony, and the ABC execs are smiling. This keeps up, and a Season 2 is practically guaranteed.

Wow, excellent ratings for Celebrity Wheel. The pretty heavy promotion definitely helped. It would be interesting to see how the ratings for markets where Wheel airs on ABC at 7:30 just before were compared to others.

The Sunday repeat of the CWOF premiere didn't do too badly, either. It managed to beat new episodes of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and The Rookie. It was about 2 million viewers behind AFV and NCIS, however. A repeat of the premiere of Mr. Mayor actually got more viewers this time than on its original airing, likely as a result of leading into NFL, and perhaps not overlapping with CWOF as well. In the demo, the Mr. Mayor encore actually out-performed CWOF's premiere (1.1).
It didn't hold a candle to either of the NFL games or 60 Minutes, but that's par for the course. FOX was all repeats.

These ratings are INCREDIBLE!! That's very lovely to see; and makes me very excited about the possibility of future seasons. I especially am happy to see that huge 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demo. Celebrities (hardcore fans will always tune in to see them) and puzzles that relate to the demo (such as the first TU2 puzzle) really make for an excellent showing.

7.57 million viewers last night, maintaining the 1.1 million in the 18-49 target demographic. Things are looking REALLY good...

Ep 2's ratings later clocked in at 7.84M. That's only about 300K viewers less than the premiere. Very impressive that it had hardly any dropoff - only 3.76%. For comparison, Chase went from 6.48M to 5.45M (diff 1.03M, 16%), while Hustler, not counting its preview airing on 1/4, went from 3.99M to 3.29M (diff 700K, 17.57%). Mr. Mayor went from an average of 4.73M from its back-to-back first two episodes on 1/7 opposite CWOF, to 3.73M for its third episode on 1/14 (diff 1M, 21.14%). Last Saturday's repeat of ep 2 got an average of 2.15M viewers and a demo of 0.3/2 across the hour, overall third place among the Big Four networks, behind a repeat of The Masked Dancer on FOX and the Ravens/Bills game on NBC, but beating a repeat of Magnum PI on CBS. However, the second half of CWOF did have more viewers than the second half of the Masked Dancer repeat (2.1M vs. 1.77M).
Note that 1/23 has no primetime sporting events on any of the Big Four, but CWOF's weekend repeats will cease after then. ABC has NBA on Saturday nights for the rest of the weeks where CWOF is running, and the only primetime slot on Sunday being used for repeats is 10 PM ET/PT for The Rookie. There might be a possibility of West Coast ABC affiliates scheduling CWOF repeats after the NBA games as primetime filler, but Shark Tank and 20/20 are what ABC usually gives out for that purpose.
Even though it's nowhere near what J!GOAT did (not that anyone should have expected that), there is no denying that CWOF is a hit. A second season just has to be in the bag at this point. According to Programming Insider, the series premiere's Live+7 day viewer count is 8.861M. The Chase is 7.354M. The Hustler's preview airing on 1/4 netted a total of 2.794M and its official Thursday premiere 4.73M.

Episode 3's first airing on 1/21 did not come in at #1. CBS's programs all had new episodes. It was the first new episode of Young Sheldon since 12/17, so that predictably won the night. CWOF having "smaller" names than the first two episodes probably didn't help, either. The CW also had a primetime spike thanks to a series premiere. Young Sheldon's next new episode is 2/11.
According to Programming Insider, which breaks down CWOF's ratings into two halves, the first half lost to Young Sheldon (6.11M vs. 7.15M), but the second half beat YS's follow-up B Positive (6.08M vs. 5.03M). The repeat the following Saturday won the hour in terms of viewers, but slightly lost to a repeat of Ellen's Game of Games in the demo. It was a very boring Saturday with no sporting events or new SNL and all scripted or game show repeats, except for 48 Hours, the winner of the night. Sources:

With the ratings its getting there's no way they don't do another season. Maybe they'll do a summer run, which would be nice so there's new Wheel at least for one night a week after early June.
