Season 38 Summer Reruns

July 12-23 will likely be reruns of the Season 38 Secret Santa weeks, with new SPIN IDs, because the official rules for the Christmas in July Secret Santa sweepstakes say that it will take place during the weeks of July 12 and 19.

Added the July Secret Santa reruns even though they're not officially listed yet.

Also added a column denoting any rerunning episodes that were pre-empted in significant areas during their original airings. "M: CBS-E", for example, would mean that Monday's episode was originally pre-empted on at least some East Coast CBS affiliates.

They finally do Christmas in July, but 2 years too late for my episode 🙁

Wheel will be pre-empted on nearly all NBC stations on 7/23, the last night of Summer Secret Santa, due to the primetime coverage of the opening ceremonies, which will start at 7:30 Eastern. I'm sure many 7:00 airings will be replaced with Jeopardy! as well since they're still doing new episodes and will likely have their highest ratings the following Monday. This plus more pre-emptions from NBA Finals and the MLB All-Star Game, combined with all the confusion from the casuals in the Facebook group about whether the SPIN ID's will be new since the TV listings still list them as reruns, I doubt more than 20% of the SPIN ID winnings get claimed. I know July is a sweeps month, but it's clear somebody at Sony doesn't pay attention to what weeks have the most pre-emptions, and Wheel and affiliates will just say, "Go to the website and click the button that tells you if your SPIN ID won."

Finally, a notable week.

A couple notes about the summer reruns thus far:

As with the S37 Saturday reruns, any episodes that originally aired with the CBS Television Distribution logo have it replaced with the CBS Media Ventures. Interestingly, Wheel is the only CBSTVD/MV show that is doing this with reruns. Judge Judy, J! (both Daytime J! and J! Weekend), and The Drew Barrymore Show reruns all still have the CBSTVD logo, despite those shows having multiple daily runs and Wheel only having one.

The promos that aired this week, and presumably next, make no mention of Secret Santa. Instead, they are they generic "play-at-home Toss-Up puzzle" promos with summer-themed puzzles. The one for Friday had a faked puzzle; they didn't even bother to center it right.

Wheel made no mention of this, but new SPIN ID's are being added into episodes with Mystery $10K wins.
