Hey, my first 90s recap! I wasn't planning to recap this episode until shootingdio commented something noticeable about this episode. Unfortunately, that noticeable thing is not good at all...
EPISODE #3079: SPRING BREAK
Airdate: 4/8/99
Thursday's contestants:
Adam Jay: Atlanta, GA. Junior at the University of Georgia majoring in journalism and political science (hopes to write about politics one day). Like to do typical "fun" college stuff in his free time (hang out with friends, go to theater).
Alan Jones: Jacksonville, FL. Subcontractor (he does vinyl siding) who's married to Gail with 6 kids (6-22).
Tami Bass: Las Vegas, NV. Worker for the Clark County District Attorney's office child support division (they collect over $5M every month for children) who has two kids and a dog named Shaka. She's also active in her church.
"Stop licking the screen!"
Alan IDs "THE MOD SQUAD". "Keep in mind that we use the term Classic TV in the broadest sense of the phrase."
DUD: R (Adam)
Alan mentioned that he really liked that show.
1ST PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: a week's stay at Almond Beach Club or Village (marked BARBADOS) worth $5,310
After Tami's LOSE A TURN (she's pretty much a mood in general), Pat says something funny and the source copy goes kinda wonky, leaving me in a laughing fit.
I believe Tami's done A VIGOROUS ONE-HOUR WORKOUT with her voice, but can she be close to 4 grand before this break?
Well, she only gets the first word of HEALTH SPA.
DUDS: C (Alan), M (Adam), D (Alan)
LOSE A TURN: Tami
2ND PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: Mercury Marine 2-passanger Boat (15hp, trailer) worth $6,010
JACKPOT ROUND
THIS WEEK'S SPONSOR: Hot Pockets' Toaster Breaks
The cameraman didn't even bother whether Alan wanted to used his Free SPIN.
Adam pinpoints KALAMAZOO, MICHIGAN.
DUDS: T (Tami), S (Adam), R (Alan)
BANKRUPT: Tami
LEFT BEHIND IN POT: $8,450
DING DING! DING DING!
FINAL SPIN: $400
Tami: N ($400)
Tami solves BELLYBUTTON for the house minimum. She later tells Pat that his spin was "lousy".
DUDS: S (Adam), R & H (Alan), I (Adam), A (Alan)
BANKRUPT: Tami
FINAL SCORES
WINNINGS SO FAR: just $4,450
BANKRUPT TRASH: $900
BONUS ROUND:
Lauren from yesterday's show won the Daytona + Jetta package yesterday (she chose the L), but this is what Adam can still win over here...
trip to Lake Havasu, AZ + 1999 Ford Mustang GT convertible ($31K+)
trip to Palm Beach, FL + 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sport ($24K+)
trip to South Padre Island + 1999 Isuzu Rodeo S ($23K+)
And, of course, the $25,000 cash.
From WHEE, this Adam hopes to save this show after picking the H.
RSTLNE gives 4 to start:
Contestant wipe is a beach ball.
He goes for HDWA...
...looks like Vanna's not budging.
All he could say is BLARE IT OUT. Since he didn't FIGURE IT OUT (also the name of an old Nickelodeon show hosted by Summer Sanders)...
...the cash goes bye-bye. With that, Adam departs at the lowest-scoring champ ever (since the retirement of shopping; celebrity episodes not included) with a measly $1,600.
The hosts try the Toaster Breaks (the Jackpot Round sponsor; one was ham & cheese and the other was pepperoni). They both enjoyed it.
There's a full credit roll in the end.
