Ladies and gentlemen, here it is - your Christmas in July special (split in two parts)! Since the show's rerunning the Secret Santa shows for the next two weeks, I'd like to give you some holiday-themed episode recaps for you to enjoy each weeknight for those weeks.
Part 1 covers S22's Christmas week (the borders for the puzzleboard and the video wall are red & green for this week)...and look who's popping up on this episode!
EPISODE #4171: HAPPY HOLIDAYS
Airdate: 12/20/04
Go!
John's done his LAST-MINUTE SHOPPING.
Kicking off this festive week:
John Holder (johnholder ): Rock Hill, SC. Winthrop University professor of political science, board member of Habitat for Humanity, local officer for a political party and a lay minister at his church. Loves to read, travel, listen to music, spoil his dog and watch this show.
Colette McKinney: Vista, CA. Graduate student at SDSU getting her Master's in mass communications and media studies. She also wrote and directed two shows when she was an undergrad at UCSD. She's thinking about writing her thesis on this show.
Janine Charland: Austin, TX (but raised in Canada and lived in Brazil and Ireland; Austin is her 4th US city). Homemaker married to Vern for 8 years with a set of 3-year-old twins and a first-grader (Elliott).
Go!
John's tripled up with ROSY CHEEKS.
MON/WED/FRI GIFT TAGS: HICKORY FARMS, SHARPER IMAGE
John's first spin seem to have landed on the Free Spin.
(AIRED) PERFECTION! John solves SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED to keep the gift tag. "The three most dreaded words for a father on Christmas morning."
PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: NWA World Vacation to Paris (marked Happy Holidays all this week) worth $6,050
JACKPOT ROUND
THIS WEEK'S SPONSOR: Centrum Silver
JACKPOT! John recites "LIKE A BOWFUL OF JELLY" to crack open the $8,800 pot!
DUDS: T (Colette), N (Janine), H (John), S (Colette), R (Janine)
"You're not that guy from Jeopardy in disguise." - how to mention Ken Jennings without telling it's Ken Jennings.
MYSTERY ROUND
BEHIND THE WEDGE THIS WEEK: a $10,000 Sony Style shopping spree
PERFECTION #2! Janine solves IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE INSURANCE POLICY to keep the holiday.
"Well, pour some eggnog down my pants and call me Squishy..."
Go!
Janine quickly solves "JINGLE-BELL ROCK".
Um, guys, there's no hyphen in the title. Still, another nice quick solve - we're moving fast!
Hopefully John's CREDIT CARD STATEMENT isn't that outstanding.
BANKRUPT: Janine
PERFECTION #3! John solves NEIGHBORHOOD CAROLERS.
DING DING! DING DING!
FINAL SPIN: $1,450
John: D
Colette: W
Janine: P
John: G
Colette: C
Janine: K
John: H
Colette: 3 B's ($4,850) (No More Consonants! - beeps heard)
Colette doesn't know it, so it's Janine who solves MALIBU BARBIE for the house minimum.
DUDS BEFORE SPEED-UP: S (Colette), N (Janine)
DUDS DURING SPEED-UP: D (John), W (Colette), P (Janine), G (John), C (Colette), K (Janine), H (John)
FINAL SCORES
Plenty of quick gameplay...but with winnings shifted towards the blue side, leaving red with nothing to show.
WINNINGS SO FAR: $37,650
BANKRUPT TRASH: $550
BONUS ROUND:
The quick-solving John's made it here and these are the presents that await him...
2005 Audi TT Roadster
2005 Land Rover Freelander 4dr
Holiday cash ($25K-$50K)...
...or a big bundle ($100,000)!
Nobody with John as he lands on the 1,000's Digit.
RSTLNE gives 5 to start:
All of CHMA are there...
Looks like THE FOLKS BACK HOME will be very happy about John's $35,000 win! His final total's $59,350 in cash & gift tag.
There's been a long-standing tradition that the hosts would NOT buy gifts for each other. I don't think that habit will change. They're just as cheap back then...maybe cheaper.
Charlie doesn't announce the promotional plugs. Also, some of this episode’s music comes from the Harry Connick Jr. album, "Harry for the Holidays".
