I am happy Changing Keys is coming back. Changing Keys is Wheel's identity.

It's about time! Hopefully it will sound good. I wonder if it will be closer to the 1983/89/92 versions, or the 1994/97 ones.
I like that they're giving Jim a bigger role too. It's a shame that Mike Richards is (allegedly) such a jerk, because I assume he had something to do with all these positive changes we're seeing.

I just put it here since this has turned into a general season 39 discussion. BYT is cluttered already with so many S39 things, and it's best to keep things in one place. If someone disagrees with this, just undo what I did.
Carry on.
EDIT: I also changed the name of the thread to simply "Season 39 changes" and I have sticky-ed it for the time being; at least for the first bit of the new season.

Awesome news that Changing Keys is returning! Jim getting a bigger on-camera role with his podium on stage is a nice surprise also.

So I said that $650's 2012 return could mean something for $750, $850, and $950. I also stated a couple years ago that the yellow wedge two spaces clockwise of Top Dollar going back to $900 for every round could mean something. Sure enough, $950 is now being used, albeit for just the Celebrity specials for the time being. And now $850 is coming back from the dead. Nothing yet for $750, but I sense a return soon enough.
Even so, I'm delighted to see that, in addition to a new contestant backdrop, Changing Keys is making a return. I thought that 2012 was a good time to be a retro Wheel fanatic considering that not only was $650 coming back, but we also got treated to some of the pilot episodes, but now with $850 and Changing Keys returning, this is also a good time to be a retro Wheel lover. Even so, I am a little surprised that they didn't wait until Season 40 to implement these changes. Nevertheless, I have some optimism for Changing Keys' new arrangement. Hopefully, it'll make Merv proud.
And without question, these new changes also have me looking forward to the next console adaption of the show.

Have we received confirmation or been tipped that these changes (final spin, Triple Toss Up bonus, etc.) will spill over into CWOF?

Any word on if these other music cues are going to change as well?
– Toss-up puzzle – Toss-up solve – Main game puzzle solve – Final spin – Speed-up – Commercial outros – Bonus round cues
Also any word if the category strips are going to be completely redesigned as well?

By the way, I am a bit surprised that the Wheel of Fortune music package would undergo another complete overhaul in such a short timespan considering that the most recent refresh of the music package occurred in January 2017 during the middle of Season 34. The 2006 version of "Happy Wheels" was in use for almost 10 seasons, even with several tweaks to some of the music cues:
- New music cues for toss-up puzzles, final spin, speed-up round, and bonus round being introduced in February 2007 - Rock-based opening theme used from Season 25 onward - Speed-up cue gets changed again in S25 - Bonus round prize win cue gets changed a month into Season 27 - Speed-up cue is remixed during Season 28 - Express cue is introduced in Season 32

I edited the first post of the thread and listed all of the changes we know so far so it can be a handy guide in case you forget something or hadn't been made aware of all of the changes we know so far.

Any word on if these other music cues are going to change as well? – Toss-up solve – Main game puzzle solve – Final spin – Speed-up – Commercial outros – Bonus round cues Would be cool if they brought back the classic 3-note puzzle solve jingle and the classic bonus round timer sound in some form. Clearly, what was the norm under Friedman no longer applies.

One thing I'd love to see, albeit minor, is new graphics for the category strips. It's been 13 years now, with a few changes here and there. It's long overdue. Given the other changes we are seeing, it wouldn't surprise me if they did get an update.

I miss when they had the other cash amount as blue and the $100K as green. Maybe they can do this: $39K: Blue $45K: Red $50K: White $100K: Green $1M: Gold or rainbow

By that logic, they should also retire the Wild Card or make Pat stop nudging players to use it in the main game. 99% of its uses in the main game are done only because Pat reminds them they can use it on that turn, and there are times where it should have been used, but was not because Pat didn't say anything. I definitely remember an episode in the mid-2010's where Pat enticed someone to use it on $3,500 or $5,000 or a big multiple and they won the game because of it.

It looks like Wheel's website has completely scrubbed all references of Mike Richards, including the show credits which no longer list an executive producer. Interestingly enough, John Hoke is still listed as the person in charge of music arrangements, so presumably he and his musicians were in charge of the upcoming music refresh unless that specific credit has not been updated to reflect that change.

Looks like there may be yet another change.
In TV listings, which currently go up to Week 4, Weeks 1 and 4 have theme names, but 2 and 3 do not. It looks like they might be slowly phasing out theme weeks and some weeks will have no theme at all.

Haven’t posted on here in a while… Phasing theme weeks I don’t like that idea.

At least I’m not the only one who thinks phasing out theme weeks sounds like a bad idea. At the very least, theme weeks give each week some identity.

To me, the theme weeks mostly seemed like pointless gimmicks that added nothing to the show. I'd be glad to see them cut back.
