So does the new backdrop. I don't get why the Facebook crowd hates it so much. The video backgrounds often made the show look like a documentary during the interviews.

Generation gaps may have something to do with it. People get so used to the video wall behind the contestants, they can't imagine Wheel without it.

The non-"Changing Keys" themes used for over 20 years feel more like prize cues, or at least better fits on some other game show. When it was removed, a large part of Wheel's identity was gone. Now it's back, and it truly feels like, well, Wheel again. I'd be willing to defend the Seasons 18-23 music package, but that's as far as I'd go.

Generation gaps may have something to do with it. People get so used to the video wall behind the contestants, they can't imagine Wheel without it. That could be a prime factor of the resentment towards the backdrop and "Changing Keys" that made Wheel of Fortune more original. But if this generation wants to know what it was really like without that video wall, they ought to go back and watch the show as it was during the 80s and early 90s and listen to renditions of Changing Keys as we have heard them (Pre-1994 versions would be recommended in this case). Once they watch, I'm sure they might get a better understanding of how popular Wheel REALLY was BEFORE the Friedman era that, in my honest opinion, did so much damage in a span of 20 to 25 years combine. That in itself would explain the resentment.

Now it's back, and it truly feels like, well, Wheel again. It sure does. Without "Changing Keys" during the last 21 years, it never felt like Wheel of Fortune at all. It felt like a show that didn't have a purpose and that was part of the reason why I missed out on Wheel or didn't watch it regularly for a long time.

So does the new backdrop. I don't get why the Facebook crowd hates it so much. The video backgrounds often made the show look like a documentary during the interviews. I love the new backdrop! It was a helluva lot better than that damn video wall. Plus, after watching Celebrity Wheel of Fortune earlier this year, I knew they'd make the backdrop, as well as the rest of the set modifications, more permanent! Needless to say, that wasn't as surprising as the return of "Changing Keys" despite awaiting its return for a long time.

A few things I'm curious about this season. One is with the Mystery Wedge, which I hope they'll still show the puzzle when it's landed on and not go back to just showing Pat or the contestant when the Mystery Wedge is hit like they did back in season 33. Home viewers need to be able to see the puzzle when that spot is hit and Vanna turns the letters so they can play along at home so they know if the contestant might know the puzzle or not. I know I like to do that, sort of cheer on the contestants and say whether or not I think flipping over the wedge is a good idea. Whether they know the puzzle or not is sort of a deciding factor there, especially since from season 35, home viewers had a chance to win, so it is important to allow viewers to be able play along. They have gotten better at that from season 34 on, but you never know, especially with the new interim producer if things might change there. I wonder about that because this season they don't seem to want to show the puzzle anytime a contestant lands on an add-on, they just show the contestant picking the thing up. Again, I don't like that to well because it doesn't allow home viewers to try to guess the puzzle.
Okay that ends my rant there. But the reason I had the Mystery Wedge in mind is because I notice it wasn't hit all week. That seems like a rarity on the show. I don't recall the last time that happened. I wonder if it's because they're using shorter puzzles that round and contestants are solving sooner. Any insight there.
Also, why is Pat now explaining the two Mystery Wedges on the wheel at the beginning of the Mystery Round just now when they've been there in round 2 for years? Just curious there.
Also, is anyone besides me tired of seeing the BEFORE & AFTER category so frequently in Round 2. I initially kind of liked that category because they had quite a few creative ideas there, but now when you see it in the same round in nearly every episode, I feel like it's over used. Just another little rant there. Okay. I'm done. Just kind of wanted to voice my opinions there.

I don't have a video on hand to post, but this week, the pre-chant opening music was slightly remixed. Also, the toss-up music is a few bars shorter when it changes a key, and the 2nd toss-up started in the middle of the music instead of the beginning.

John Hoke was credited with composing the new theme, as evidenced by the long credit roll from tonight's episode.
