In this picture of an upcoming contestant, the Wheel appears to be set up for Round 1 (but not in its usual starting position), and Free Play is not on the Wheel; it is the new yellow $X50 (likely $850) seen in the Season 39 promo airing this week. The Prize Wedge and Million Dollar Wedge are still present; the Gift Tag and Wild Card are out of view.  |

Unless they restyled the Free Play wedge and moved its location, this certainly may end the era of saved turns. Although I like Free Play, if there was one problem I can think of that may have plagued it, it's that it had a lot of rules. Most other elements that have been used weren't as complex.

Maybe it’s to avoid a player taking continuous turns on Free Play, which is why it was retired. It was extremely unlikely to have happened during its tenure, but after giving it plenty of thought, I understand why Sony had to do so.
