Remember from 1992 until about 1995 when Wheel had red letter puzzles? As you may remember, the first purpose of red letter puzzles was for the home viewers. But later, the red letter puzzles would be for the contestant who solved the puzzle and say the word spelled with the red letters on the puzzle.
I was thinking what if wheel brought red letter puzzles back some day?

I like the Red Letter Puzzles and it would be nice to have them brought back, but all the things they have now are enough.

I've always imagined what the current board would look like with Red Letter Puzzles, especially in HD. lol. I'll bet that would look cool.

That would be nice in this current era but it was originally for home viewers.

You know, if any of the old gameplay elements were reinstated for the 30th Anniversary, this should be one of them.

I wouldn't mind seeing Red Letter Puzzles return. They were an interesting part of the show when they were on and with today's puzzle board it would be quicker to set up after the puzzle.

If they are going to return the red-letter puzzles, then they should do it the way BigJon is doing it (More Red Letters, More Difficulty, More Cash Bonuses)

Red letter puzzles are so cool! It added spice to the puzzle board for sure!
Makes me wonder what the red letter puzzles would look like on the computerized puzzle board.
In either event, I miss them for sure. Maybe they dropped such puzzles because of a possible occurrence where a contestant may unscramble and ended up with more than one possibility (i.e. hear vs. hare, garden vs. gander), perhaps?

Did you know that besides, the red letter tiles from the Red Letter Puzzle Sweepstakes, there were also 2 more variations of the colored letter tiles. In Season 11 (1993-1994), during the weeks of February 7-11, 1994 and February 14-18, 1994, Wheel of Fortune held a Gold Letter Sweepstakes, where in each game, one puzzle contained some gold letters that, when unscrambled, spell out the last name of an Academy Award winner. And in Season 12 (1994-1995), during the weeks of November 7-11, 1994 and November 14-18, 1994, the show held a Red, White & Blue Sweepstakes, where in each game, one puzzle contained some letters that were red on top and blue on the bottom spell out the last name of a U.S. President when unscrambled.

cool. The original thread was about how to incorporate Red Letter Puzzles into the modern-day show, not the history of Red Letter Puzzles. I don't feel like locking this, just because a 10-year-old bump is hysterical, and I do appreciate wheelbud that you're trying to talk about more about Wheel than just requesting other people to fix their artwork, but there's a time and place for everything; this thread's time was a decade ago.

wheelbud please refrain from bumping old threads. This one is literally over TEN years old. The banner at the top of old threads is there for a reason. No sense in keeping this open. LOCKED
