Let's look at the more positive side: I'M GOING TO CRUSH THIS, Vivica declares. Tonight's celebrities are: Vivica A. Fox is typically associated with Independence Day, but she's making her directorial debut with Through Her Eyes. She's playing for Best Buddies International and Alexandria House, two charities that helps adults with intellectual challenges and women facing abuse, respectively. Michelle Trachtenberg is a regular watcher with her mom. Her mom gave her several tips, including "Don't curse on national television". She's playing for Good+ Foundation, a company that makes sure that parents have the necessities to take care of their baby. Jason Mraz (to whom Pat Sajak also does an I'm Yours joke, along with a person who needs to buy a vowel for his last name) has a new reggae album, Look for the Good, and is currently touring. He's playing for True Colors United, an organization that deals with homelessness among young LGBTQ people. $2,000 Toss-Up |

Jason's GETTING WARMED UP... much to the horror of his contestants, like Michelle protesting he hit the buzzer first. Pat talks about Jason's hat, and that Jason's not been a fan of doing his hair, and he's inspired by his stepdad. Jason also talks about how his brain works when thinking of songs. Vivica was a real athlete, and played competitively, even winning a city championship in 1982. Michelle is just there.$2,000 Toss-Up |

Jason gets PAN right away, and tries FRYING PAN, but can't think of anything else. Unfortunately, that BROWNIE PAN was worth... ...$1,000,000.
$139,300 is still a pretty solid total though!

Wrong board. I have no idea what you're talking about. I never make misteaks.

Jason Mraz just dominated tonight, he clearly came to play. I believe it's the first time that two contestants only won the minimum.
This is the first time Family was used as a category since season 36. There was a Fictional Family category in the past as well, which of course this puzzle was. They did have room to add SIMPSON on the bottom. Little surprised ABC let them use a show on a competing network airing at the same time in a puzzle.
Finally at least one bonus solve tonight. They were definitely under time to begin the second game, but that changed thanks to the long Before and After. Why did Vivica call a J after JONES was not right?
Ugh, a painful bonus round loss in the second game for sure, but Jason did win a whole lot for his charity anyway. If only he called B or P.

Little surprised ABC let them use a show on a competing network airing at the same time in a puzzle. Disney now owns 20th Century Fox, which produces The Simpsons. They do not own the FOX network, but do own its various sister networks like FX and FXX, which air Simpsons reruns.

Is this the first time since the retirement of Fictional Family that Family was used for a fictional family? I thought there was precedent to using Characters instead.

Right, kinda forgot about that, though CWOF is still competing against new Simpsons episodes. And yes it looks like this is the first time a fictional family was used for FAMILY.

Stickied Falled the thread. Normally, I won’t give my review until after the recap’s posted, but here we go…
Jason Mraz really dominated both games. Michelle gave me a good laugh as well.
My favorite part about it was the buildup to the million dollar moment in the second game (MDW picked up right before bells rang, Jason spinning TD and calling a hot consonant, and spinning the million on the wheel). Too bad we couldn’t convert it to a win (I accidentally spoiled myself on the 2nd bonus puzzle via one of the comments on Bobby McBride’s recap of the 4/17/07 episode.

Hopefully we won’t see a male million dollar loser on the regular Wheel of Fortune.

If “juxtaposed” was an episode, this would be it.
Sans the very first Toss-Up, Vivica didn’t have much chances to play. And I’m glad Michelle got on the board midway through the second game, because she was hilarious to watch, especially when she kept calling the host “Mr. Pat Sajak.” 😂 But Jason – man, did he dominate right up until the second Bonus Round. He cracked me up when he strummed the $1M wedge like a guitar.
The Family puzzle definitely could’ve been Fictional Characters. Then again, some Fictional Place puzzles have been categorized under Place. Oh, and the PEEPING TOM puzzle was definitely … creepy.
I solved the first BR with RSTLNE, but like Jason, I blanked on the first word of the second BR. It really sucks that he lost the super big one after winning the minimum the first time around. 😔 But hey, almost $140K for charity isn’t bad.
