I'm back with more classic recaps. Just needed some time to refresh myself.
S14, EPISODE #2596: WINTER WONDERLAND
Airdate: 11/25/96
Opening up this week:
Eric Ayaso: National City, CA (near San Diego). Actor (he plans to do that for the rest of his life) with a degree in criminal justice who worked in pharmacy for many years.
Brandon Smith: Winthrop Harbor, IL. Graduate student at Trinity Seminary in Deerfield who's preparing to be a youth pastor. He's also a big Cubs fan.
Corinne Jenkins: Mississauga, ON (it's close to Toronto). Bartender who enjoys watching sports (but not hockey, unfortunately).
Brandon IDs "Sex and the City" star SARAH JESSICA PARKER.
DUDS: T (Eric), L (Brandon), M (Corinne), V (Eric)
PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: trip to Chateau Whistler Resort in British Columbia (marked CANADA), $4,095
Before buying the A's, Corinne almost repeated the O.
Eric takes advantage of Corrinne's misfortune by saying MY ANCESTORS WERE ON THE MAYFLOWER.
DUD: I (Brandon)
BANKRUPT: Corinne
Pat mistankenly said that there would be a $5,000 space next round...
JACKPOT ROUND
Brandon said "Oh boy" when he BANKRUPTed.
Brandon snacks on some CASHEWS, ALMONDS & SPANISH PEANUTS.
DUDS: R (Eric), B (Corinne)
LOSE A TURNS: 2 (non-Brandons)
BANKRUPT: Brandon
LEFT BEHIND IN POT: $10,950
Well, we did promise the $5,000 space this round...but Pat's the only one that has to hit it since we went a bit over on time. AS for the spin...he went way past that space and we'll have to settle for $300 per consonant.
Brandon finally solves WINDWARD & LEEWARD ISLANDS. I thought this round would never end...
DUDS: T & C (Corinne), M (Eric), H (Corinne), V & G (Eric), P (Brandon), B (Eric), K (Brandon), F (Corinne), Y (Eric)
DQ: Corinne’s L repeat
FINAL SCORES
WINNINGS SO FAR: $6,900
BANKRUPT TRASH: $18,650
BONUS ROUND
PRIZES
Big Bear/Snowmobiles
Ski America Trip ($16,990)
Chevy Tahoe ($31K+)
Thomasville Home Theater System ($16,200)
$25,000 Cash
LETTER PICKED: first E
RSTLNE gives the first letter:
DMPI...means that Brandon's done. LOCK, LOVE and LEFT are all wrong. Since he didn't recognize the show's LOGO, there goes that Tahoe.
BRANDON'S FINAL TOTAL: $6,000 (all cash; ineligible for Friday Final)
OVERALL THOUGHTS: I guess the warning from Andy's site was a bad sign that this episode would suck...and it did. I did like Brandon's "Go for it!" attitude, but that was probably it. This is a 3/10 at best.
