S14, EPISODE #2598: WINTER WONDERLAND
Airdate: 11/27/96
Midweek contestants:
Michael Sasson: Los Angeles (but born in the Bay Area). 5th year UCLA student studying political science hoping to go to law school.
Lisa Keller: Acworth, GA. Married 13 years to Mike with 3 kids.
Kellie Milianti: Colorado Springs, CO. Owner of a commercial cleaning company who's studying acting and has a 16-month-old daughter (Sarah).
Harry Friedman came into the studio just after the interviews.
Now this was A REWARDING EXPERIENCE in regards of Michael getting his turn back - winning a trip to Salmon Falls Resort in Ketchikan, AK ($7,588).
DUDS: B (Michael), M (Lisa), H (Kellie)
PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: a $2,000 Cabela's GC (marked SKI WEAR)
Newspaper does the wipe.
Lisa recalls JFK JR. SECRETLY WEDS CAROLYN BESSETTE.
DUDS: M (Lisa), I (Kellie)
LOSE A TURN: Michael
JACKPOT ROUND
Pat mistakenly thought Kellie's second BANKRUPT was a $600 spin.
After all that, Michael's won the ski wear. So close to a Jackpot win, too...
DUDS: C (Michael), K (Lisa)
BANKRUPTS: 2 (Kellie)
LEFT BEHIND IN POT: $13,050
If this were Barney, we'd be hearing the "I Love You" song. Actually, that's a good reason why I hate this show.
Anyway, it's time for Pat to give the Final Spin and consonants are worth a super-dee-duper $5,000!
And at the very last second, Lisa solves COAT OF ARMS AND LEGS for the championship.
FINAL SCORES
Unfortunately, Free Spin never got any attention after getting picked up...
WINNINGS SO FAR: $31,888
BANKRUPT TRASH: $14,700 (all from Kellie)
BONUS ROUND
LETTER PICKED: L (for Lisa & Luck)
RSTLNE gives the last letter:
DPCO...equals the second strikeout this week and TOYS won't cut it. If Lisa was thinking about Thanksgiving, maybe she could've gotten YAMS for the Ski America package.
LISA'S FINAL TOTAL: $17,750 (all cash)
Vanna's favorite thing about Yams? Eating 'em cold after being in the refrigerator days after the holiday.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: We've had some nice cash-ins, but the end of R1 could've been better and those BANKRUPTs in R3 didn't help. It's a 6/10.
I've also noticed some a trend this week in people going the distance in the Jackpot Round (cleaning out consonants) regarding a high unclaimed Jackpot. Granted, we all want to win the Jackpot, but it's an interesting occurrence.
