My next stop is Home for the Holidays. I'll post an episode from that theme week each night for the week (kinda corresponding to Secret Santa...almost).
S16, EPISODE #2996: HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS
Airdate: 12/14/98
Opening up this week:
Valery Shumate: Fairview Park, OH. Pharmaceutical consultant with a 2-year-old daughter. She also enjoys needlecraft (she made Afghans since she was 8 and is working on a couple that should be done by Christmas).
Eric McCutcheon: Ann Arbor, MI. Senior at the University of Michigan studying art history who's hoping to go to dental school. He's also engaged (the woman is sometimes an enemy) and collects PEZ dispensers.
Joe Bisogno: Hesperia, CA. Writer of cookbooks who remodels his home continuously (past 3 years, plans to do it for several more).
Eric solves FOOTBALL PLAYER. Let's see if we could add a 3 to his score...
Well, he blanks on FIRST DOWN.
DUDS: N (Valery), S (Eric), D (Joe), M (Valery)
1ST PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: trip to the Royal Sonesta Hotel (marked BOSTON), $3,500
Valery simply reads it off.
BANKRUPTS: 2 (men)
2ND PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: a $7,000 Broyhill GC (marked Home Decorating)
Boy, Joe would be pretty excited to win that prize, wouldn't he?
JACKPOT ROUND
SPONSOR: University Games
JACKPOT! Eric solves classical composer WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART for a sweet $12,100 bonus!
DUDS: P (Joe), B (Valery)
DING DING! DING DING!
FINAL SPIN: $300
Eric solves BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED.
DUD BEFORE BELL: G (Valery)
FINAL SCORES
Stinky Free Spin, we don't need you...
WINNINGS SO FAR: $17,100
BANKRUPT TRASH: $4,050
BONUS ROUND
PRIZES
Home For the Holidays trip ($27,776)
Young Chang Anne style Grand Piano ($16,475)
Ford Econoline E50 Van ($42K+)
Lake Tahoe (almost $18K)
$25,000 Cash
LETTER PICKED: second E
RSTLNE gives Eric the first third of the answer:
CDHO gives him one in the other word...
This should've probably been THING.
He says NEW JOB...correct for the PIANO! Meredith the fiancée came over afterward.
ERIC'S FINAL TOTAL: $30,475 ($14,000 and the piano)
Vanna plays "Chopsticks" on that piano in the end.
During the credits, Eric's shown with the hosts on the piano as well.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Aside from the Bonus Round, the only notable thing about this episode was Eric's Jackpot win (Valery would've won instead). Still not too bad. 7/10
