James Pickens Jr. is known from his work on Grey's Anatomy, leading to Pat to talk about how television dramas last so long, the story gets complicated. James is also a competitive roper. He's playing for Hands4Youth, which helps give children STEAM activities and parenting resources.
Johnny Weir started off as a skater, but he's now a commentator. He went to the Olympics in 2006 and 2010, and was a three-time U.S. Champion. He's playing for Special Olympics, who work to help the wellbeing of those with intellectual disabilities.
Brooke Burns is a relatively well-known game show host, from Dog Eat Dog to The Chase to Master Minds. She did one of her nails like a stylized wheel for good luck. She's playing for the Just Keep Livin Foundation, which focuses on helping high school kids have the necessary skills and equipment to succeed.

These two matches were interesting.

As usual, the contestants brought the laughs (especially Johnny and Brooke), but Johnny dominated the first half. James scared me in R1 in game 2, but did made a nice job breaking the tight match in the Final Spin.

I solved the first two TTUs in game 1 fast, but I figured #3 was NORTH (rather than SOUTH). I got both BRs with RSTLNE, and I agree that they should’ve been solved. Maybe picking the I would’ve helped Johnny in the first one.

My rating (for both episodes): 6

I just hope the 2022 episodes have epic results…

In Columbia, SC the Emergency Alert System did a required monthly test while this episode was on. The test started as Vanna touched the Y in Round 2 of Game 1. The test ended as the camera transitioned from Brooke to Johnny after Johnny's solve. I did get to see what letters they were calling in the bottom left of the screen but I didn't get to hear Johnny solve the puzzle. I didn't get to watch this the night it aired. I just now got around to watching it so that's why I'm finding this out 2 weeks late. Btw I hate the sound of those 3 beeps at the beginning and end of EAS tests. Anyone else hate that sound?
