S13, EPISODE #2447: SWEETHEARTS WEEK
Airdate: 2/6/96
Tuesday's engaged couples:
Seth Blumen & Joanne Meyer: They met at UCLA (met during a homecoming event) and their wedding is October 26th.
Seth tried to change it into an M after the S repeat, which would've been no good anyway.
Anges simply reads it off.
DUDS: L (Seth/Joanne), A & M (Jim/Sylvia)
BANKRUPT: Rob/Agnes
DQ: S repeat from Seth/Joanne
The team that wins the Friday episode will also win a trip to Hawaii that includes flying first-class, a dream wedding and a fantasy honeymoon featuring a private bungalow at the Mauna Lani resort (totaling a whopping $32,004).
Pat also announces that the show is off to the Big Island next week.
1ST PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: trip to Volcano House (marked BIG ISLAND), $3,537
Since there was a commercial break before this round, the R3 layout is used here.
Agnes solves VINAIGRETTE, CREAMY FRENCH, GREEN GODDESS. She knows they're all (Salad) Dressings.
LOSE A TURN: Jim/Sylvia
2ND PRIZE ADDED TO WHEEL: marked FINE CHINA
$5,000 TDV here on out.
Seth solves MOTHER-IN-LAW-ABIDING CITIZEN. Unfortunately, we're all out of money.
SEVERE BANKRUPT: Rob/Agnes
FINAL SCORES
WINNINGS SO FAR: $9,700
BANKRUPT TRASH: $27,500 (yikes)
BONUS ROUND
LETTER PICKED (Seth): first E
RSTLNE gives a couple:
BCDA gives a couple more...
This same puzzle caused heartbreak in later seasons, but not here - after saying LUNCH BOWL, Seth gets PUNCH BOWL for the Mall of America Shopping Spree!
FINAL TOTAL FOR SETH/JOANNE: $23,544 ($5,550 and the shopping trip; actually ineligible for Final)
There's turtledoves on the set. You may not hear 'em at home, but the way that they coo is simply adorable.
Also, the state of Hawaii is made up of islands. The Big Island is also called Hawaii and footage is shown about the island itself (simply stunning I'll say).
Full credit roll in the end.
OVERALL THOUHGTS: Believe it or not, this is the first three-rounder I've recapped. Anyway, this episode was quite the underwhelming one not helped by that R3 BANKRUPT. Thank goodness for the BR win, though. 5/10
