While she has the first word, she only thinks of PRO, CARD, NERD, and PARK for the last word. It's not enough to solve MEDIA GURU...

...so it won't be enough for an extra $39,000. Rachel leaves with $15,900 cash and trip.

In the final segment, Pat and Vanna talk about how the letter turner is wearing sandals. She looks shorter this time, and she's 5' 6". The whole perspective changes, and the puzzle board seems a lot bigger.

That was a really unfortunate, and potentially avoidable if she took her time, waste of twenty grand. At least she made it to the Bonus Round... only to get an adjective/noun with a word that hasn't shown up since 1997.

Can we do a bit better with Same Letter on the big money? That would be preferred. At least Rachel recovered in the third round.

The bonus puzzle was really tough with those vowels, but I solved it halfway through the countdown. She deserved a better puzzle after the dud vowel from the beginning.

Ouch, Rachel had all that cash in round 1 then when she smartly starts calling vowels there is no O. At least she recovered and ended up the big winner.

I got the bonus puzzle after her letters, but I can see GURU being tough to think of with just the R showing.

After R1, I thought this night would be overly-themed on the puzzle department. Thankfully, the only puzzle that was themed after that was R4.

Speaking about R1, I pre called Rachel not getting any of the monies claimed from the $2,500 space. Yeah, it’s bad when you know that someone would just screw up.

At least our players did okay despite some fumbles (and I also precalled Rachel falling for the TRIP trap in R4).

BR: I too got it after her letters came up, but there was no way that was going to be solved with the overdose of vowels.

Overall, par for the course. A 5/10 will do.

The unclaimed Hawaiian vacation was to Makai at Hilton Waikoloa Village ($10K+).

Everyone earned decent amounts on this otherwise average start to our Aloha State salute. But I sure was hoping for a big payday in R1…

I no-lettered TTU2 and solved R2 and R4 just as fast. I also solved the BR with Rachel’s picks, and given she only solved the Prize Puzzle, I’m not surprised she didn’t win the final round. But then again, GURU is a tricky word; I’m not sure if a G would’ve done it for her.

John was recently interviewed for a podcast. He was originally chosen as a contestant back in Season 37, and was at the studio with three relatives on the day Pat had to be rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. He and the other contestants that day were not only reimbursed for all travel expenses, but they also covered travel expenses for when they would eventually come back. John was "at the top of the list" for out-of-state contestants once they became allowed again and was originally asked to tape in July 2021, but he had to decline that tape date.
