Great point. Did you, or anybody else with a keen eye for these things, spot whether any of these tapings were labeled "Celebrity"? I didn't get a chance to click through those links. And I'm assuming, Mario, that you're going to be there for one or a few of these tapings?

^ They didn't distinguish the two versions when all the dates were available. And no, unfortunately I can't, because they gave us far too short notice. Maybe later in the season, but likely not until after it starts airing.

Why didn't they tape Season 3 of CWOF first? Season 2 of CWOF was taped between Season 38 and Season 39.

I called Sony Pictures with a ticket question and incidentally ended up hearing the next month's production schedule through the automated message on the line. Assuming that schedule remains the same since the message was recorded, the following tape dates are set aside for the celebrity episodes: 8/4, 8/5, 8/31, and 9/1.

Just checked my voicemail, and I got a call this afternoon that audience tapings have been cancelled until August 11th at the earliest.

^ Not to be presumptuous, but unless this is due to some technical issue, the length of this taping hiatus leads me to believe that a prominent member of the staff recently contracted COVID. As far as I know, Jeopardy has not cancelled any tapings. But of course, better not to assume anything about anybody until any official statement comes out.

Is it that tapings are cancelled altogether or just that they're not letting audiences in until at least August 11?

In my opinion, the way the person phrased the call, it seems more like only audiences are unavailable, not that the entire taping was off.
EDIT: I don’t like replying again in this thread, a couple clarifications:
- The reason given was because of the rise of COVID cases. I thought that would have been implied, but apparently not.
- I’d bet on Jeopardy tapings in August to also be audience-less, based on tapings being unavailable, not waitlisted, on the Jeopardy site and the voicemail message for Wheel says that it’s still the Jeopardy/Wheel ticket hotline but that there would be no audiences. However, technically I was told to call another number to confirm Jeopardy tapings, and the message in my voicemail talked exclusively about Wheel, so I guess it’s technically still possible they have an audience for the premiere?
EDIT 2: Jeopardy! is still on tapingwise, for now

Did the person on the message specify if it was Wheel-specific, or did that person mention J! tapings as well? The folks next door seemed to make it a bigger deal, including promoting the audience returning in TV commercials, so it would be a real bummer if Sony put a pause on audiences after people may have likely already made travel arrangements.

Thanks for the clarification. I think it still may be up in the air for Jeopardy! because as of the middle of last week, the show briefly had waitlist options for all the August dates, until all of those were quickly snatched up as well - hence the "unavailable" marker shown on each of the August tape dates. Sony's reasoning is a little curious since the LA Times reported that case counts have been flattening over the past few days. (I would've edited my post as well, but I no longer have that option.)

The Jeopardy ticket line still directs straight to the voicemail greeting that the show will start accepting confirmation calls a week prior to the tape date. I have a couple tickets for the premiere week and would be bummed if they cancelled. For now, I'll assume that everything there is running as planned.
As for Wheel, I was planning to get tickets for later in the same taping week (August 4) but missed out the night they became available, or at least thought so. When I checked early the next morning, only the August 11 and 12 dates had options and I wouldn't have been able to make it to either of those. At first I had assumed that it was because all of the other tickets were claimed, but now I'm wondering if the show purposely limited the ticket availability for the remainder of the scheduled dates when they realized that COVID could affect their audience plans.

Sorry to bump, but I just called the folks at Jeopardy to confirm my ticket request, which they honored, leading me to believe that this filming delay only affects Wheel.
