This is wonderful news. Sony finally got the memo that Wheel and J! are better off with separate people running it.
Notice that Davies is not mentioned in the article at all and explicitly mentions that Steve replaced Mike. So Davies was likely never on Wheel from the start. The reports that he would be taking over Wheel was likely just an assumption by the media; when they saw that Davies was taking over J!, they likely assumed it would also be the case for Wheel since the two shows shared an EP for over 20 years.
Given Bellamie's game show repertoire, I have a lot of faith in her and I am now really looking forward to seeing what she does for Season 40, especially without having to worry about the show next door at the same time. Also really glad to see that Wheel has a female EP for the first time since Nancy.

Best wishes to Bellamie and Steve as they take the helm for one of the most storied franchises in all of American television!
If Bellamie's work on PYL is any indication, she will do a great job at Wheel. The 2019 revival of the former epitomizes just the right balance of past and present to make it work for a modern audience.

Great news for Wheel. I also have lots of faith in Bellamie given her experience in game shows. Really liked her touches on the PYL revival. She and Steve should do great next season and make Wheel great again (for realsies, this time).
While Season 39 hasn't really been the best IMO, the staff's done their best to steer the ship given the circumstances (namely, a now-disgraced EP who tried taking the hosting spot next door formerly occupied by a late, beloved TV icon), so hopefully Bellamie and Steve get this ship back on track next season.
And I agree with MarioGS, both shows are better off with separate people in charge. The fact that they got a new EP just for Wheel should bode well for Davies' chances at staying on J! in the future.

(detailed post coming, and I apologize, but I need to do it this way)
Like some here, I do agree that Wheel and Jeopardy! need separate EPs, because Wheel has been the show that's suffered under the now-former system where one EP basically ran both shows. I'm hoping that the new EP could also do something like having a proper tournament during the season, which I call the 'Push to the Playoffs'.
And it would work like this.
First, the tournament would have 3 qualifier weeks during the season. The qualifiers would have the 15 best players face off in 5 games, where each winner would move on to the tournament proper to end the season.
There would be no Bonus Rounds during either the qualifiers or the core tournament. There would also be no Wheel Bonuses(i.e. Million $ Wedge, Mystery wedges, Wild Card, gift tag, Express, et al.) during those games. Play would continue until the final bell(Final Spin).
The 15 winners that would emerge from the qualifiers would then move on to the last 2 weeks of the season in late-May/early-June, where they would play a Jeopardy!-style tournament(using that specific format) to determine the eventual champion.
How would the dates for such a tournament work?
The tournament dates I've provided are samples based off the 2022-2023 season calendar, with the tournament lasting for 5 weeks of shows, broken up by each season of the year(Fall-Winter-Spring).
1st Round Qualifiers-Fall Week of November 21-25
1st Round Qualifiers-Winter Week of February 20-24
1st Round Qualifiers-Spring Week of May 22-26
After a Qualifier Week, regular play resumes.
Core Tournament May 29-June 9
Qualifier round scores would be used for seeding as well as tiebreakers, followed by the regular season scores each player attained.
Week 1 of the Core Tournament would air from...
May 29-June 2(Quarter-Finals)
Week 2 of the Core Tournament would air from...
June 5-7(Semi-Finals) June 8-9(2-game Championship)
Players who are eliminated in the qualifiers(30 players out) would leave with $10,000 each, while the winners would get their score with a $10,000 bonus.
Players who are eliminated in the quarters(6 players out) would leave with extra $20,000 each, while the winners would get their score with a $15,000 bonus.
Players who are eliminated in the semi-finals(6 players out) would leave with extra $25,000 each, while the winners would get their score with a $20,000 bonus.
3rd place in the Championship Match would get their score with an extra $50,000 bonus
2nd place in the Championship Match would get their score with an extra $100,000 bonus
The Champion would get their score with an extra $250,000 or $1,000,000 bonus, plus a Championship Title Belt.
Sorry this went so long, but what do you think of my ideas here?

Steve Schwartz had been promoted to Co-Executive Producer following the appointment of Bellamie Blackstone being named permanent Executive Producer.

In regards to your idea of removing the cardboard from the Wheel for the tournament, they should just use the the Celebrity Wheel layout with $950 minus the MDW’s

Sorry this went so long, but what do you think of my ideas here? In regards to your idea of removing the cardboard from the Wheel for the tournament, they should just use the the Celebrity Wheel layout with $950 minus the MDW’s I guess that my Wheel layout would have at least the following on it. Now, because this would be the tournament, there'd only be 1 Bankrupt on the Wheel in all rounds. The wedges would be at least one of each of these... Bankrupt(one only) Lose A Turn(one only) $500 $550 $600 $650 $700 $750 $800 $850 $900 $950 $1,000 $1,500 $2,000 Top Dollar($2,500 in R1, $3,500 in R2, $5,000 in R3, $10,000 in R4+) That would have 16 wedges spoken for. The other 8 wedges can be random amounts in the $500-$950 range. Oh, and in terms of the regular games for the show, it would be split(with special weeks like College Week, et al not counted here just for simplicity) into these time ranges, when using the sample calendar I mentioned previously. These would obviously be the ones to pull qualifiers from(and this is not an 'invitational' tournament either...it's all based on best records). Alternates would be on a stand-by list if players weren't able to attend due to illness or other reasons. Fall Sub-Season September 12 or 19-November 18 Winter Sub-Season November 28, 2022-February 17, 2023 Spring Sub-Season February 27-May 19 You're looking somewhere around 60 games(on the high end) per sub-season where you can pull the 15 best for each Qualifier Week.

The qualifiers would have the 15 best players face off in 5 games, where each winner would move on to the tournament proper to end the season. The problem with this is... how do you determine the "best players" on a show like Wheel of Fortune? It can't be just by most winnings. Michelle Lowenstein solving LEA__ _A_CET for the million was not as impressive a solve as Jessie Rebhan solving ____N_ _ ___CER for $37,000, for example. If anything, it should be done like Double Dare's TOC, which qualified the teams who completed the obstacle course in the least amount of time and the ones who answered the most questions correctly. Get the biggest winners and maybe the players who solved the most puzzles on their episode, or go by some other stat that shows how well they solve puzzles.

Whatever happens, they have no excuses to ignore Autumn Erhard. I bet they'll stick to Season 26 contestants at the earliest if they do go for the best contestants. Just you wait.

I think Wheel has become a little too reliant on their cardboard.

The cardboard is not the problem, especially as you need to spin to try and claim it. I'm actually wondering if more Wheel prizes would make sense (without overloading the big round thing, of course).
It's possible that there's too much focus on the Toss-Ups (except the $1,000 Toss-Up which makes sense for the first spin), but then there's the trip puzzle and its prize value. Maybe the theming is going a bit far, or maybe they just need to take more risks with their puzzles.

No, the $1,000 TU is for the right to speak with Pat first, the $2,000 TU is for the first spin.

This all sounds like an interesting idea for a tournament, but then again, the tournament was Richards’ idea.

Hello, Friends! I just want to say that I was very excited to hear the news of Wheel of Fortune getting a new Executive Producer at last! And on top of the big news, with this being Women's History Month, Bellamie Blackstone is the first woman in History to take on the role of Executive Producer of Wheel of Fortune. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to seeing what all she brings to the table. It could be more exciting than ever!
