From the Sony Pictures Studios, it's America's Game!
WHEEL OF FORTUNE
AFRICAN SAFARI
EPISODE #2857
Here are today's contestants!
Andy Ankowski is from Columbus, OH. He's a sophomore at the University of Notre Dame, studying English and film, and shouts out his hall. He also is a big Weird Al fan, where he even drove up to Minnesota once just to see a big ball of twine.
Robert Gottardi is from Port St. Lucie, FL. He's a real estate investment counselor. He's married to Mina and volunteers as an investigator for the public defender's office.
Caren Quinn is from San Antonio, TX. She's married to Kevin, has an almost two-year-old Tyler, and sings (hopefully someday professionally). She sung the national anthem once at a Spurs game.
Part of me thinks Andy no-lettered this, but MORK & MINDY just got him $2,500!
Round 2 adds some Travel Smith clothing worth $2,500! TRAVEL is on the wheel for any of our contestants.
THE CLOCK STRUCK ONE THE MOUSE RAN DOWN, hickory dickory dock, and Andy has another $19,300!
A CONCRETE SLAB OF RIBS sounds inedible, to say the least, but Andy's got another $2,700.
Caren, YOU'RE PULLING MY LEG and were making me afraid, but $5,150 is still yours.
$2,400 should be more than enough for Andy to clean out a YARD SALE. At the very least, it's enough to finish this game.
Andy can win any of these four prizes:
A GMC Van worth over $23,000!
An African Safari courtesy of Colette Tours worth over $21,000!
A steam train trip to Victoria Falls and Johannesburg worth over $25,000!
...and the $25,000!
W H E E L
RSTLN E... are of course on there!
KDW O... are bold. Was he thinking some combination of DATEWORK or something?
Andy just spends his ten second stumped. I noticed Pat only said "Thing, 10 seconds", instead of "The category is Thing", since CATEGORY was the answer. He admits he had no strategy, and he missed out on the AFRICAN SAFARI.
Stil, $26,900 is more than all four of the remaining bonus round prizes, so I don't think he's too upset.
Pat Chat: Vanna's wearing palazzo pants, and Pat notes that. Vanna differentiates between palazzo and split pants. Pat also notes that she's wearing a cummerbund. Pat thought that you were supposed to wear it with the folds up, so the crumbs come up, and defends that by saying the etymology is cummer-, meaning crumbs, and -bund, meaning buns, in Germany.
9821 note: The actual origin of the word probably stems from Persia, from kamar, meaning waist or loins, and -bandi, meaning band. Thus, it was a kamar-bandii, or a waistband. It also has some lineage from Urdu.
