Most likely they're not rerunning the season 41 Teachers Week because of Vanna's absence, but that is odd to air season 40's week instead of just rerunning a different season 41 week. Besides summer 2020, have there been any other instances where they reran episodes from before the most recently completed season in summer reruns?

No other known instances of that in the summer, no. Although Season 36's Christmas week reran in the slot that was meant for Season 37's Christmas week but cancelled because of Pat's surgery.
There are also at least three known instances of Saturday reruns being from the current season.
Three episodes from S40 Teacher's Week already reran this season: #S-7631 on 12/2/23, #S-7634 on 1/20/24, and #S-7635 on 3/16/24.

I imagine the last week of reruns before season 42 will be the final week of the season to lead into the host change. I was thinking that too, like maybe they'll air Pat's last show on the last ep before season 42 (possibly editing where Pat mentioned that he'll see him on summer repeats, or dub in him saying "Saturday repeats" or something like that). |

Home For The Holidays likely wouldn’t be rerun because of its theme around the holidays. On the other hand, Big Money Week had a sweepstakes component attached to it, weeks of such type are rarely rerun except for Collette sponsored weeks.

True for both, Home for the Holidays would've been fun in July as a Christmas in July rerun week and of course it would've been great to see Liz's full episode again. And yes, Big Money Week was a sweepstakes week, but it was a really fun week with the Double Jackpot and $8,000 space plus the past contestants in the audience and there was that certain viral solve attempt.

The only time Wheel has done any kind of Christmas in July stuff was when they reran S38’s SS with new Spin IDs. Given Mike Richards often did Christmas in July specials during his time at LMAD, that was definitely something he cooked up. Strangely, S35’s Collette Swiss Holiday was reran during the summer, with no new sweepstakes component attached.
6,000 and 7,000 weren’t rerun during the summer either. 7,000 was rerun on a Saturday in February 2020. Not entirely sure about 6,000, but its celebratory week was the last rerun week before S32 with the exception of the Friday show, which was pulled from reairing due to a puzzle referencing Robin Williams, who had passed away a month prior. The sole $100k win of S31 from the last AG week was aired in its place.

6,000 and 7,000 weren’t rerun during the summer either. 7,000 was rerun on a Saturday in February 2020. Not entirely sure about 6,000 #S-6000 was the infamous Julian Batts College Week episode. It never reran in syndication, but it did rerun several times on GSN from 2016-19. #S-5000 was the last of Season 26's summer reruns. |

What a bland summer. The only one of the $100k wins they could've rerun was during national parks, as the other three occurred either during a holiday-themed week or had a sweepstakes component. Big Money kinda falls under the latter category, but considering the huge publicity the show got from the RIGHT IN THE BUTT missolve and the celebration for S-8000, I am a little shocked it was outright ignored. Thanks For The Memories would've made the most sense. The only real roadblock would've been getting around Pat's farewell speech and comments regarding summer reruns. Not sure that's something that can be easily edited out or something they would WANT to edit at all. |

I could see them editing Pat's speech similar to how they would edit around the Mystery $10K SPIN IDs in S35 reruns and the giveaways S40 XL Saturday reruns, by using alternate angles with the same audio. Using this as a reference, they could cut 3:15-3:25 and use a few seconds from the wider angle (seen at 2:31) during the last sentence of the Vanna part of his speech before cutting back to the close-up shot when he says "That's it." Another possible roadblock for #S-8010 would be the Fan Fridays giveaway, since the prize was one-of-a-kind. However, they could always try to give it away again if nobody claimed it from the original airing (if anyone did win it, it was never mentioned in any of the Emails like some of the other giveaway winners). And if it was claimed, they could always just replace it with a different Fan Fridays giveaway and cut Pat's joke about the stuff going up on eBay. |

Speaking of Fan Fridays, the show's website shows that the giveaway for August 23 (when they're rerunning Season 40's Teacher's Week) will be the WOF Casinocade game from Arcade1Up. Presumably, the rerun of #S-7635 on that day will dub in the Fan Fridays segment from #S-7925 for that same prize, where the code word was ARCADE.

My thought for Pat's speech if they did rerun Thanks for the Memories was they would've had him record an alternate line encouraging viewers to watch the new season with Ryan Seacrest hosting, or just say Saturday reruns instead of summer.

Not sure they've even called attention to Saturday reruns at any point. That remark probably wouldn't matter much since rumor has it that they're immediately airing Ryan's episodes for Saturday reruns this season instead of shows from the previous season.
