Wheel of Fortune Recap: 9/4/1989

Time for another recap and this time, it's the Season 7 premiere!

Tonight, on the Season 7 Premiere of Wheel of Fortune, there's over... this is huge... $213,000 just waiting to be won and these three contestants want to have it all! (again, not going to be perfect with last names, so bear with me)

Gisele Jeerie: A part-time accountant and full time mother.
Julie Ericson: Julie does volunteer work and helps fundraisers.
Jackie Burton: Not much details from her, but she's a mother and she works part-time.

And now it's time for Round 1...



There's a $1,000 wedge on the wheel, along with a Bankrupt, and these three players are playing for cash, like usual. The first category tonight is a Thing.



And it's a small sized one as well. The red player always goes first and that's Gisele, whose first spin lands on the red $400 and she misses with a T. After Julie puts up a $200 N, she misses with an R on the pink $700. Jackie spins, lands on the red $450, but doesn't get the S she wants. Gisele then spins again, and gets a Free Spin! After spinning again and landing on the pink $700, she wants a G, but can't get one. Julie gets her turn back, and almost got $1,000, but she landed on the orange $200, and called a bad D. Jackie spins and lands on the purple $400, she calls an L... but there are no Ls! Gisele hopes to end his streak... she lands on the red $300 and... no Ws! After six consecutive duds... Julie finally puts another letter in the puzzle, a $250 M! But after buying an E, she loses her turn via Lose a Turn. After lighting up a few more letters, Jackie lands on the purple $250 and calls another dud ... a P. Back to Gisele who lands on the pink $250... and misses with a Y! Julie controls the rest of the round...



And solves FAX MACHINE for $400 and puts an end to this long round. (a main game puzzle worthy of being in the Bonus Round... evil)

After that round of duds, I'm hoping there's an easier puzzle in store for these three. But first, there's a $2,500 wedge on the wheel, along with a set of plates and flatware (marked CHINA) worth $5,290. Onto the puzzle, which is an Event.



Julie starts this round and completely controls it...

It's Round 3, so that means the $3,500 wedge has come to the wheel and the next puzzle is a big Quotation... with an apostrophe in it.



Jackie starts and right off the bat she gets FIVE Ts worth $4,500. And then two Ss on $3,500 bumps her to over $11,000! After putting up some more letters...



She decided to solve: THAT'S WHAT LITTLE GIRLS ARE MADE OF and she racks up $14,450 and the lead!

After two perfect rounds, there's $5,000 on the wheel along with an 8 day tour of Egypt and a 4 day cruise of the Nile River, worth $7,190 (marked EGYPT on the wheel)! And the category for Round 4 is an... Event!



Giselle starts with a T on the red $500... but it's a dud. She decides to use the Free Spin. But after calling a $600 N, she misses with a G on the red $600. After putting up some letters, Julie misses with a P on the pink $300. And then Jackie gets to spin, but immediately misses with an S on the pink $600. Now we go back to Gisele who lands on the Egypt tour and gets to pick it up. Afterwards, she calls a $150 B. After lighting up the Ds, she wants to solve.



This episode probably was near the LABOR DAY WEEKEND and Gisele won the Egyptian tour along with $2,350 cash.

Not enough time for a speedup round, so Jackie wins with $14,450 - an all cash total. In play this Bonus Round, we have a $40,000 gem package, a convertible, a portboat worth over $52,000, a $32,000 annuity, and of course, the $25,000 cash.

Now, the WHEEL system has debuted this Season, so Jackie is the first contestant ever seen on TV to pick one of those cards. And she goes for... the H card.

She was'n table to figure out BINGO and lost out on... we'll never know, because Pat put the card right back into the slot holder! But she'll be returning to the next episode with $14,450 cash.
