Second Goen episode - original airdate 7/18/1989
Again, over $41,000 is just waiting to be won - but given the state of the budget, we may as well keep on waiting because this is WHEEL! OF! CHEAPNESS!
Let's meet our returning champ and his challengers:
Eva Allison: mother of one (soon to be two) from La Jolla, California
Patrick (no last name given): fitness trainer and mystery writer from Orlando, Florida
Rick DePiro: our returning champ with a one-day total of $2,350 cash and jewelry
ROUND 1:
$500 is the top dollar value in this round. There's been a couple small changes from last night's program - one $50 wedge has been upped to $300 (in an off-model styling) and the other $50s and $75s have been given diamond markers beneath them to disguise the fact they are still extremely cheap.

PHRASE
Eva will kick off this show by spinning up $100 and finding a T, but she can't buy any vowels yet because they're still $200 at this point. Two spins later, she hits the big $500 for a single H. A little later, she also collects a FREE SPIN, which she turns in not long afterwards upon BANKRUPTing $475. After some effort, the board reads as follows:
_ R E A _ _ N _
A L L / T H E
R E C O R D S
PHRASE
which she solves as BREAKING ALL THE RECORDS for $950.
Bankrupt: Eva ($475 - Free Spin used)
Eva: $950
Patrick: hasn't had a turn yet
Rick: has what he won yesterday
ROUND 2:
Same wheel as Round 1, but we add a prize: Lucien Piccard his & hers watches worth $770. We also have something new in the puzzle - an ampersand:

SAME NAME
Patrick finally gets his first touch of the wheel, which nets him a single N for $150. Then he also gets himself back-to-back FREE SPINs. After getting up to $300, he buys FIVE E's (strangely enough, one lights up late). After a bit of a scare (he reads the red arrow and fears a BANKRUPT), Patrick decides enough is enough.

SAME NAME
He fills in EVE & ELIZABETH ARDEN for $600. A remark here: there were NO multiple consonants in this round, only the five E's and a double A.
PERFECT ROUND!
Eva: $950
Patrick: $600 + 2 Free Spins
Rick: well, he starts the next round
ROUND 3:
Again, we upgrade to a top dollar of $1,000. We also add some Carico International china valued at $1,440, and the watches are still out there as well.

THING
Rick gets his first turn of his title defense, and he immmediately picks up the CHINA prize. And then he gives it back, because his next spin is BANKRUPT (although Bob doesn't reclaim it before Eva takes her turn). Eva flirts with Bankrupt as well, but she duds the T instead on $150. Patrick duds an N, but he has Free Spins to burn and he will do so. He finds a triple L, but he's only on $100. But he makes a smart puchase to get four A's, and then he'll pick up the WATCHES! Patrick decides he's a little chicken today:
_ A _ _ R
L _ A _ _ _
B A S _ B A L L
THING
He polishes off MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL for $400 cash and the watches!
Duds: T (Eva), N (Patrick - Free Spin used)
Bankrupt: Rick ($200 and the china)
Eva: $950
Patrick: $1,770 cash and watches + Free Spin
Rick: gooseegg alert
ROUND 4:
$1,250 and $750 hit the wheel, along with a $1,704 trip to Acapulco and a $2,500 jewelry gift certificate!

OCCUPATION
Eva will take the wheel first here, and that flipper is just about as far as it can go without hitting Lose a Turn! She builds up a decent stack of cash, but duds an S, so it's back to Patrick, who still holds a Free Spin. A couple good spins later and he hits the RING gift certificate - it's time to solve:
T _ _
M A N U F A C T U R E R
OCCUPATION
And TOY MANUFACTURER will earn him $400 cash and that big jewelry prize! No speedup round today, it's all over!
Sole Dud: S (Eva)
Eva: $950 cash
Patrick: $4,670 cash, watches, jewelry (Free Spin goes unused)
Rick: GOOSEEGG'D (but he retires with $2,350 cash and jewelry)
Patrick commands this game, and he'll play the Bonus Round.
BONUS ROUND:
Just like Rick, Patrick will play for the $5,000 cash bonus. Dim the lights!

PLACE
We give him the RSTLNE:

I wonder if he's onto something with DCFA:

Sure he is! He'll be breaking it down on the DANCE FLOOR before he returns tomorrow to defend his championship with a one-day total of $9,670 cash, watches, and jewelry! Maybe tomorrow we'll get to find out his last name...
