Daytime Wheel Of Fortune - Original Airdate 6/7/1976
Look at this almost-new studio, filled with over $31,000 in prizes waiting to be won today on WHEEL! OF! FORTUNE!
Here are our three players, including a returning champion:
Gerry Stover, a single man from Massachusetts
Linda Miller, our returning champ with a three-day total of $16,975
Lee Ceruti, a mother of two from Pennsylvania
ROUND 1:
$500 is the top dollar value in the first round. Watch out for that black space, "BANKRUPT"; it'll take away all your cash, but not your merchandise, because once you buy a prize, it's yours forever.

PHRASE
Gerry will begin this show looking for big money, but finding BANKRUPT - let's try Linda instead. She's back for her fourth game and she'll start it with a T on the quirky $175. She'll call the bad S on her third spin and we progress to Lee, who does a little more before pulling the dud N. Back to Gerry we go, and he'll just miss $450 and just miss the T on the board - he calls it again and loses his turn. Linda will find the big pair of L's on $400 and buy the first vowel of the match - two E's. But no C's or D's are up there so it's over to Lee and quickly back to Gerry. He'll put up the last couple of consonants for a total of $350:

PHRASE
and BLOW IT with KILL THE VAMPIRE. Linda will clean up house with KILL THE UMPIRE (no stake required) for $925!
Duds: S (Linda), N (Lee), C (Linda), D (Lee)
Bankrupt: Gerry (loss of turn)
DQ: Gerry's repeated T and blown solve
Linda will be our first shopper of the day and we're off to the Powder Room. She'll be buying grooming accessories for $304, flowers and plants for $150, the coat tree for $299, some wicker bath accessories for $116, and towels for $39, leaving $17 on a gift certificate.
Gerry: blew it twice and was unlucky once
Linda: $925, plus her previous winnings
Lee: dud collector
ROUND 2:
$1,000 is the maximum on the wheel for this round. There's also a second Bankrupt to make things more interesting.

TITLE
Linda will try to extend her $925 lead by spinning first. She'll just slide off the $900 though into BANKRUPT. Lee will try to begin the round instead. A couple of $300 N's get her on the board, and then she hits $600 for a quadruple T - that's $3,000! She'll understandably want to buy a vowel, but the common E is too rare for this puzzle - it's Gerry's turn. He's a little too demanding when asking for an S, and Chuck won't be giving him any. Linda's got it back, and she'll hit $600 herself for two G's and a total of $1,200 going into commercial - turn your backs please!

TITLE
We're back and Linda still has control, and she'll buy two good I's and one bad O. Lee has a chance to do something with that big $2,750 in her bank now. Too bad that something is giving all that money back, it's BANKRUPT - ouch! Gerry will try yet again to get on the board, but he's going to LOSE A TURN. Linda's second spin of the new turn hits that pretty blue $1,000, and there are two Y's! She spins again, and NAILS $1,000 AGAIN for a pair of C's! She's not going to spin any more though...

and she loves CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG to the tune of a massive $5,300!
Duds: E (Lee), S (Gerry), O (Linda)
Bankrupt: Linda (loss of turn), Lee ($2,750)
Lose a Turn: Gerry
Time for Linda to go shopping again, in the Collector's Boutique this time. With her big stack of money, she will be buying the 15-foot boat for $5,145 and some hand-woven baskets for $82, leaving $73 for a gift certificate.
Gerry: gooseegg alert
Linda: $6,225 plus her prior winnings
Lee: gooseegg alert
ROUND 3:
$1,500 is out there for this round and any subsequent rounds.

PERSON
Lee will start the third round, and she wants to avenge that $2,750 lost to Bankrupt earlier, but a dud is no good way to start - there's not one T in the whole puzzle. Gerry gets $500, but his second spin of $600 lies fallow since there are no S's either. Linda, for the second round in a row, will BANKRUPT her first spin, but that big boat is hers forever and safe from penalty spins. Lee will, like Gerry, build up some money ($800 in her case) and call a dud (the P). Gerry, won't have his turn long though - he hits the eccentric $850 but there are no H's. Linda puts up a couple L's and buys the E before calling the bad D. Time for one last commercial - turn your backs!

PERSON
Coming out of commercial, it's Lee's turn and she will solve NORMAN ROCKWELL right away for $800!
Duds: T (Lee), S (Gerry), P (Lee), H (Gerry), D (Linda)
Bankrupt: Linda (loss of turn)
Lee will take $800 to the Discover America showcase and buy herself a movie camera for $539 and a canoeing package for $186, which leaves $75 on a gift certificate. After shopping, Chuck has her spin one more time to see what might've happened had she gone for the two N's or any other letters left on she board. SHE HITS $1,500 - but who knows if it would've happened during actual gameplay?
Gerry: GOOSEEGG'D
Linda: $6,225 (four-day total of $23,200)
Lee: $800
It's all over - Linda's a great champ, and she'll be back for her final day on the next program!
