...did that get your attention?
As part of the continued efforts to brand the site as a top source for Wheel of Fortune news and information, we are officially renaming the site. While we have nothing against the current name "Wheel of Fortune Lovers", we feel it is a bit too wordy and generic, and we are switching to something we believe will help give the site a distinct identity, as opposed to just another fan forum. With the new season coming shortly, there is no better time to make the change than right now.
Effective next Sunday, September 9th, the name of the site will change from Wheel of Fortune Lovers to Buy a Vowel Boards. After months of deliberating between different names, and gathering opinions from both members and the staff, we have decided to go forward with the BAV name. While the new name may seem cheesy, it does directly identify with Wheel of Fortune, as buying vowels has always been a crucial element of the show. In addition, most of the other names being tossed around were felt to be too generic, and could describe a variety of things other than WOF.
As such, the URL of the site will change from "wheeloffortunelovers.proboards.com" to "buyavowel.boards.net", also effective Sunday. I will make an announcement when the change has officially happened. Once this has been done, the current URL will redirect to the new one for two weeks, giving users and visitors a chance to change their bookmarks to the new link. After the two weeks, the current URL will no longer work.
In addition to a new name, there are a few other things in store for the new Season. First, there will be a special chat session for when Sanam's episode airs on September 28th, so we can all watch and enjoy the episode together. There will also be a special surprise from tech guy Guinty, who will be celebrating his birthday that day. Second, there may be recurring WOFLive specials throughout the year, hosted by MarioGS, likely during holiday seasons...but up to Mario, of course. He may choose to not do them, of course. The sixth season of DPG will debut in early October, with a special surprise in store after the end of the sixth season.
However, other than the site logo and background, the look of the site itself will not change for the new season...at least not right away. Proboards has been beta testing its newest version of software for some time now. While there is no set timetable for release currently, we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of PB5, and will be designing an entirely new site layout and look when the transition period comes around. For now, designing an entirely new skin that'll just be replaced within the coming months is a waste of time and effort.
As we enter our fourth full season online, we would like to thank all of our hardworking staff who help keep the chaos under control while making everything fun. In addition, while the site will have a new name and will have little left of the previous era, we continue to thank and commend both Mark Liotta (WheelFan17) and Andrew Long (nowhammies11) for laying the foundation for the site back in January of 2009, without which I would not be writing this to you all today. Most importantly, I thank you, our faithful members, for continuing to contribute and helping us towards our goal of being a top Wheel of Fortune site on the Web.
Here's to another great season of Wheel! ;D
