You are at the Shopper's Bazaar!
These ladies have been shopping and selecting gifts from our boutique to play for in our game today.
Our first shopper is Marilyn Jensen, playing for:
*Handmade squash bosom necklace,
*Collection of vintage wines and assortment of cheeses from around the world,
*Self-defrosting double-door refrigerator/freezer,
*Sterling Silver tea service, and distinctive collection of gourmet china.
She is playing for a grand total of $5,400!
After being told to "Stop the Wheel", it lands on $100, and she gets to guess the first letter in the puzzle below:
_ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
We're looking for a famous person, place or thing in this puzzle. Marilyn calls an S, in which there are two, for a total of $200 added to her account!
Our second player is Dawn Hagel, who is playing for:
*A complete assortment of kitchen appliances, including a microwave oven,
*A pair of His-n-hers trail bikes,
*Full-length ranch mink coat.
She will be playing for a grand total of $5,250!
Upon being told to stop the wheel, it lands on $250, Dawn calls a T, which turns out to be a dud.
Our third and final player is Maureen Thompson, who is playing for:
*Antique Writing desk,
*Gucci luggage,
*1974 Pontiac Firebird,
Her selections total $5,350!
After telling the Wheel to stop, it lands on $200, in which Maureen calls an N, which there are two, adding $400 to her account.
That's how our game is played! But, after host Chuck Woolery is introduced, he tells us that these ladies have not only selected some unique and expensive gifts to play for, they also have some unique and expensive bills to pay off too, it's time for commercial.
ROUND 1
After coming back from commercial break, Chuck interviews the contestants, who, as introduced before are:
Marilyn: From Glendale, entertainer.
Dawn: From Grenada Hills, her husband "follows suspicious people around".
Maureen: From California, has seven children.
Now, these ladies must accumulate enough money and solve a puzzle to take these gifts home.
Here's how the puzzle was before going to commercial:
_ _N_ _
_ _SS_N _ _ _
Marilyn goes first, and guesses an R, there are two at $450 each. She then buys an I, which there are also two, taking $250 from her account, but then duds out with an M, which wouldn't have been for any money anyway. After the turn passes to Dawn, she calls an H for $450, then lands on Free Vowel to guess an E, with two of those in the puzzle.
HENR_
KISSIN_ER
After accumulating $500, Dawn solves HENRY KISSINGER, adding that amount to her account, but she needs another $350 to claim the kitchen appliances.
Here are the scores so far:
