Now that I've watched the episode online, I agree that this episode was pretty ugly until the BR.
R1: I knew it after Reggie put up the D's while on Jackpot. Personally, I think the Jackpot should've been claimed. It's too bad he left the MDW on the table. I was afraid you were one of those Uvoiders (as some of us give contestants that name) and I was right. Were you thinking FISH for the last word?
R2: This round wasn't much better, and it's a darn shame you lost the $10K MW, Kate. We were due for another winner of said wedge. But I'm glad you capitalized on your opponent's blown solves. I have no idea what the heck BULL NELSON or PULL NELSON are and I don't wanna know.
Flashback BR (September 21, 2005): Ah yes, Shawn Anton who swept the entire game and won $25K. This bonus puzzle was also solved on January 11, 2010 and a Mini Cooper Clubman was won. You can see my recap of that episode in the directory.
R3 and R4: Kate, It's a good thing you needed that Hawaii trip to win the game. Also, very questionable move by Lindsay on going w/ some vowels in the Speed-Up.
Bonus Round: I got it w/ Kate's choices. Congratulations on becoming the first $50K BR winner of the season, Kate! It's a good thing you saved this episode from being a downer w/ only $17,964 given away in the front game!
Any plans for the money?

The contestant coordinators definitely remind you repeatedly that AND is likely in same name. They also teach you to think about "s" for plural puzzles, etc.
I felt bad for Reggie with Pull Nelson. He thought Lindsay had said Full and been buzzed out.
My car lease is up next year, so buying a car and getting rid of that payment is my first priority!!

Dafuq was with that '97 intro clip? That made absolutely no sense! Pat had a milk moustache. He said he didn't want to do any endorsements, but that shot of him basically WAS an endorsement for "Got Milk?". Back then, several celebrities, including Vanna, were photographed with a milk moustache. I'm well aware of the "Got Milk?" campaign, but I didn't connect the two (nor did I really have a reason to) -- I had thought it was something like "Pat rents out upper-lip space for company logos, but we have to censor it 15 years later". Yes - I know the guaranteed prize is pretty much the reason I made it to the BR. That, and the luck of what happened in R2. (No hard feelings, WarioSajak, I knew a lot of people would think that  ) Good to know. |

Congratulations girl! I thought your reaction to the bonus round money was outstanding. It's amazing how a moderate total can turn into something tremendous in a mere couple of seconds, huh?
I was so excited to finally see your episode online. It's sad that there is just a little bit of closure now that our week of filming has already aired. What an unbelievable day with amazing people.

You all are welcome. I am glad I could make this available. Kate, you did an awesome job at the end. Way to take control of the game after a quirky first half. Great solve at the end and look at that amount. Congrats on the big win. Surprising to see a missolve like that in R2. Although, I suppose actual wrestling moves aren't as common as they used to be. I felt bad for Reggie with Pull Nelson. He thought Lindsay had said Full and been buzzed out. I didn't get the full context of what Pat was saying because it had been cut out by the station. How unfortunate for him. |

But why did she hand it to him? She never hit Bankrupt, and you don't have to win the round to keep it, so she didn't have to give it up, but somehow, it was gone for the rest of the show. Did Pat give it back to her or did he just take it as it went to commercial? (Again, you can see it at 10:22 in the video)

...but why was she giving it back? Did they change the rules of the Wild Card to stipulate that you have to solve the puzzle with it in your possession to keep it?

So, one funny story that thankfully for me, they edited out.
Background - I have some hearing loss. When you have hearing loss, you often mishear things, but usually after a few seconds, your brain will figure out what the other person ACTUALLY said.
At the very beginning, during introductions, when Pat asked me "What do you do?" what I initially heard was "When are you due?" as in implying that I was pregnant (I'm not, for the record). I froze, but kept smiling at Pat, and all of a sudden I realized what he actually said and I answered him. The shot of me before I answer him was originally silent, with my awkward pause, but they were kind enough to put Pat's question OVER that, so it looks like I answered right away. THANK YOU WHEEL EDITOR PERSON!!
Mario and CU - I should have been more clear. I believe they were doing that to keep the top padded thing clear round by round. I can't remember if they set it back in her holder thing or not, but I seem to remember that was the deal.

Thank you so much for uploading this episode, jjman! You are awesome! R2: This was definitely quite a round. I thought your "No, it's not the Bankrupt" comment was pretty funny, Kate! Sorry to see you ended up losing the $10K to the Bankrupt, though.  Too bad that the missolves ended up costing Lindsay and Reggie- and sorry to hear what happened to Reggie. But congratulations on getting your first puzzle, Kate! I'm not sure why Lindsay tried to give back her WC. For a second I thought she was trying to give it to you or something. R3: Congratulations on winning the Hawaii trip! BR: Nice job solving the puzzle, Kate! And congratulations on your $50K win! I would've liked to see more money given away in the maingame. But aside from that, the highlight of this episode was definitely your BR solve, Kate! And I loved your energy too!
