TU1: Another "12 Days of Christmas" lyric categorized literally? I'm calling "A PARTRIDGE IN A PEAR TREE" as Living Thing tomorrow. R1: For those who missed it, the forgetting of the D was actually pretty obvious... I love how this came right after they were "strict" yesterday. If they had penalized him, imagine how much backlash they would have received yet again. R3: Each of the first three rounds left a lot on the table... WHY SPIN IF YOU'RE ONLY GOING TO CALL A SINGLE LETTER AND SOLVE?! AND ON A PRIZE PUZZLE, NO LESS! R4: I was sure there was going to be some cut turns, but there were some "null alerts" as I like to call them (two null turns which gives a spoiler that the third turn won't be). Rufus forgot the category... BR: Of course CMDA strikes out. Darn adjectives! At least we got F&D in the BR for once. The Jeep again?! Are we going to have another all-car week? Retro clip dating fail again. They didn't have the housing-less plasma scoreboards in 2006, people! But it was nice to hear Charlie O'Donnell's voice again. Of course literally only two people in the audience whoo when Kala hits the MDW to start off -_-. But at least they groaned at the BR so there was no need to dub in a fake one. Rather underwhelming tonight. Lots of rounds that looked like good hauls ended pretty minimal. Rating: 4/10

This was not a good show overall in any aspect. Jeremiah was not a good solver, Rufus wasn't that good either and A ruined another BR. 1k and R3 were miscategorized. There was no reason for the Final Spin graphic to be missing either. I also don't know why the BR distribution has been stuffed with Jeeps - it's not particularly a special car and I'd like to see some dollar amounts over the next 6 shows.
EDIT: Oh brother, I'm really not in the mood for now judge problems either.

Another sign this has been an off week for the judges- they didn't hear the D being left out by Rufus at the end of the JR.
My BR puzzle solving skills also were off tonight, as I thought the first word was definitely going to be MIXED. Obviously, the O's might've done it for Kala. And I wonder if we're going to do the same thing as the Mercedes C300 during The Good Life Week (land on a car envelope each time this week).

Toss Ups: Got the 1st one as soon as I saw the hyphen and worried that we would have a repeat of last night's fiasco. Fortunately, it looks like the contestants paid attention here. LAUNDRY BAG was not a bad guess for the second toss-up, but Rufus needs to remember to ring in!
R1: Kala was off to a great start with all the cardboard. V? Really? Rufus did a great job cleaning up the wreckage, getting all the multiples. I thought I initially heard Rufus say the D at the end of SMOKED, but Mario, thanks for proving me wrong. Man alive, judging was lenient that tape day.
R2: Rufus needed to buy some vowels or call more common letters. Ultimately, he was able to hang on to the Wild Card. Smart move on the Mystery Wedge, but Jeremiah can't cash in (P would not have made sense)!
R3: Why the heck did Kala take the Spingle? If I were in her shoes, I'd try to get a few dollars before the solve ($1,000 or more, if possible). Yeah, it was enough to get her in the lead, but with the $3,000 Toss Up coming, you need to extend your lead as much as you can. Smart move on Free Play, not so smart move with a B (BAITING? Did you think Wheel was going to send you on another fishing trip?).
R4: I was afraid that we were going to see a repeat of the WOOD-BURNING STOVE fiasco. Jeremiah does save himself from the Pity Thousand and deny Kala the Same Letter bounty. Rufus needs to pay attention to the category. Speaking of, how often does Pat announce "that's the Same Letter" in this category? I don't recall him doing this all that much.
BONUS: Another nasty adjective + noun matchup. Good to see an unusual category. My initial thought was FRIED something (but, the R wasn't posted) or BAKED something (then Kala fell into the ol' statistical trap - that got shot down), then somehow thought that a G or O would've been in the second word. She needed that O to have a chance. Still, impressive that she got BROWNIES.
OVERALL: Nothing spectacular, but I think these contestants felt the effects of what has so far been a very strange week. Less than stellar gameplay, and the Prize Puzzle pretty much decided it. I'd give it 5/10.

By the way, I clearly heard a D at the end of SMOKED (a little muffled, but he said it). Did you watch the video in my post? All I can hear is a hard K/"ck" sound ending the word. Agreed concerning most rounds, but for the PP round, if you're sure you know it, there's no need to risk a penalty any further when you have a $5,000+ surprise waiting for you.

I heard the clip now...clear as day. Hooo, man...judging was a little lenient that tape day.
As for the Spingle, it makes sense on a Prize Puzzle, but I'd still be a little shaky about doing so if you're far behind, as you can't always rely on whether or not the prize will take you into the lead going in to the Toss Up.

TU's: Too bad Rufus missed out on the first 2 Toss-Ups. But nice job by Kala sweeping all 3 Toss-Ups! R1: I actually would've been able to solve it when Kala hit the Jackpot. Aww, would've been nice for Kala to claim that MDW. She was doing so well up until that LaT hit her. Not sure where Jeremiah thought the V would go. At least Rufus was did a good job here. Well, this is really weird; last night someone leaves out a letter and they're ruled wrong, and today Rufus leaves out a letter and is ruled correct. R2: Really thought Rufus should've bought a vowel early on. Too bad Jeremiah couldn't cash in on the $10K, but at least Rufus is able to pad his lead a little bit. R4: Well, Kala's guess at least fit the category (also happens to be part of a TV episode title, too...well, minus the hyphen. ), but I didn't think it was right. On the bright side, Jeremiah doesn't have to settle for the pity thousand! BR: I had BAKED BROWNIES at first. At least she was able to figure out BROWNIES. BGHO definitely would've done it here. Hooray, another Jeep. I think I'd like to try out the brownie pan that Vanna was talking about at the end. I thought this was a meh episode overall.

Thanks for clarifying, Mario. I must have misheard something. 2. I understand where you're coming from, but I'm a little critical on this move because it's becoming increasingly common. Part of it is the risktaker in me, but part of it is what I call "whereness awareness" in the game. You have to be aware of where you are in the game. With a $3,000 toss-up coming, a player's lead needs to be solid enough that he or she can make up some ground if he or she misses the toss-up and gets the lead snatched away.

Here are my comments. They would've been posted earlier, but our Internet took a dump all afternoon and has just come back online.
Toss-Ups: Gotta hit the button to get the money... Also, looks like the Twelve Days of Christmas are overused as toss-up fodder this week.
R1: Good thing the L went uncalled, as it was a trap letter. I was able to put this together at the time of the Jackpot hit, but our stage player can't, so the featured prize and MDW will go to waste courtesy of wicked white Lose a Turn. $4,600 is a decent tally for Rufus though.
R2: The Lose a Turn strikes for the second time in as many rounds, hitting Jeremiah this time, but it's early enough that he's able to get his turn back and ride it to a successful Mystery flip. Unfortunately, he misreads the board in calling for the bad P (I think he was somehow seeing PICTURES), leaving Rufus wide open to lock up his $3,400.
R3: Rufus has a little less luck when it's his turn to start a round - while he avoids the third Lose a Turn of the game, he picks a dud and Kala is able to spingle her way to the cruise.
R4: Kind of late for a Same Letter, and a short one too. Not very good letter calls early in this round, as RSTLNE gets chucked to the side. Jeremiah gets one letter and a solve to just evade the Pity Thousand.
Bonus: Kala picked the exact wrong package for this puzzle and therefore fails to solve it. I also had BAKED BROWNIES, just like Ryan, which would've been just as contrived (what kind of brownies aren't baked?)
Overall: Nothing great, nothing horrible, a 6/10.

Lackluster episode tonight...
Tossups: Nice job by Kala on sweeping the Tossups. Awful guess by Rufus on the first one, but good thing he didn't ring in.
R1: Such as shame for Kala to let the SS and the MDW go to waster after a great run. I also thought that Rufus leaving out the D was a no-no, but I was surprised that the judges gave it to him.
R2: Another five-figure potential is out of the picture thanks to Jeremiah's nonsensical P call.
R4: What in the world was Rufus thinking w/ those guesses? They're not even SL! Good for Jeremiah to avoid being gooseegged.
Bonus Round: I also had BAKED BROWNIES w/ RSTLNE, but I got it like TPH once CDMA completely struck out.
I can't believe the Jeep is showing up yet again! I'm sure tomorrow's winner, whoever that may be, has landed on a cash amount.
EPISODE RATING: 5 out of 10

Baked brownies? Guess who also said that. Why, your's truly of course.
Now, for Rufus' round one "solve," his voice itself may have prevented the D from being audible enough. If that's what the producers believed, I can't blame them.

I watched the clip -- Michael really only earned the $3,400 from Round 2.
Really, what can I say about the judge(s) at Wheel? Given these inconsistent rulings, I'm starting to get the feeling that whether you're right or wrong in these situations depends on someone's mood.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again -- modern-day Wheel keeps giving me reasons to stay away from it and more tomato ammunition to throw at Friedman.
Oh, and watch as this ruling isn't given massive media attention and filed under "his opponents were screwed by Wheel".

Ignoring puzzle judging issues, there were some... iffy solving moments throughout. Jeremiah with Pictures, and Rufus with Baiting, most notably.
BR needed O, with B and G both being very helpful as well.

If that's what the producers believed, I can't blame them. Rufus does have a heavy accent, and words that end with D tend to be very hard to pronounce audibly without sounding awkward. Just put an extra punch on the D...everyone will understand.

Comparatively minor error, but the Wheel wasn't reset before R4. Just after TU3 is solved, you can see that the yellow arrow's on the red $700. But by the time Pat does the Final Spin, it's where it should be.

It was reset. It was in the proper position during the Toss Up wipe. The shot of all 3 players with their totals was added in post (probably so viewers could compare Kala's total with Rufus's). The Wheel is exactly where the Final Spin was, so it was shot after the round.
