R3: This puzzle is terrible as Phrase. There is an Elvis song called "Moonlight Swim" that uses it word-for-word. Why not make it Song Lyrics, instead? At least the WC is used right tonight after that mess on Wednesday. But just once I'd like to see somebody hand it in without Pat prompting them, or it least before he mentions it. If I get an opportunity, I'll stick my hand out to him the moment my first consonant is lighting up and just be like "Yeahyeahyeah, I'll use this for another $3500 each." R4: Very intense. I didn't expect Cindy to make the comeback, especially knowing ahead of time that a record would be broken... BR: Whoooooo! ;D Excellent work! About the retro clip, was there originally music there? It seems like there might have been, considering that was an entrance at the top of the show, right? Anybody see the original episode back then? Same Name is getting quite the absence. Hasn't been used since 12/12. Not that I mind, considering the shying away from ampersands in the categories that need them the most and only using them where spelling out AND is actually OK (see R3 yesterday)... Audience was downright awful until R4. Stop ruining high-paying rounds with the lack of enthusiasm! The winnings couldn't have happened to a better person. So happy for Cindy to make that awesome comeback and break a record to top it off! ;D The previous record overall (not counting millionaires) was $146,529 during Sweethearts Week in Season 13. The total winnings for tonight is also easily a record barring the $1M win show. However, the show started out pretty flat, then really skyrocketed around the second half, so I'd say that balances out pretty nicely, but definitely doesn't cancel out the not-so-good stuff... Rating: 8/10 9/10 (I think I was being a bit biased here because I knew the win was coming) Average Rating For This Week: 6================================================================ Regarding the weekly promo video, this week's reaches new lows after last week's travesty... I can't believe they outright spoiled a grand prize win! Way to show four wedge pickups when 3/4 were Bankrupted a few turns later. Nice job, promo editors...NOT! Aside from that stuff, there is quite a lot of unused footage in it. I wish we could have seen Pat and Vanna hugging and fake-crying tonight (:18). But look at :15..."No one at home will know we screwed up unless you go home and blab." This didn't air, did it? What do you think they "screwed up"? It wasn't the scoring error from yesterday, because Pat had a different shirt and tie. It was definitely from tonight's episode judging by Pat's tie. Any evidence as to what went wrong? Maybe a discarded puzzle? Oh, and nice job keeping quiet about tonight, Robyn... NOT! -__- Why would she mention that ahead of time?! Why can't people just keep their mouths shut? There was a guy who spoiled on the FB last weekend, too (he was a former member here).

Well, well.
This is the stuff of legends & dreams. You can only hope you will be fortunate enough to call 7 consonants in the speed-up with anything higher than a triple and manage to solve it right then, as well as get a pretty easy BR, and even if that happens you can barely conceive the amounts of both of these will be $5000 (especially nowadays) and $100000.
Unbelievable. I believe the overall maingame winnings should be a record also, that was a very strong 2nd place to back that up.

The show started off slow, but starting from Round 3, things went insane. A useful Wild Card with a high cash payout in addition to the trip would normally seal the win, but then a $5K speed-up hit for $42K creates a crazy comeback, and then we top all that off with a $100K win? Dang.
I thought the BR puzzle started with BE, but once that was ruled out, I got it with Cindy's choices. And that is an amazing all-cash total for Cindy to have the highest non-million win.

Toss-Ups: Theming plus a cut-off quotation makes for a late buzz on TU1, and the spelling out of TEN instead of using the number didn't help on TU2 either. R1: The promo (which I ended up seeing on my local affiliate today) spoiled Wil's prize pickup but not its loss (of course). Robyn beats the 7 to 1 odds (normally 5 to 1, but the prize already was picked up) and gets over $1,000 with her spingle by hitting top dollar. R2: Missed this round due to snow-induced satellite failure. Looks pretty average based on the readback. R3: Wil's spin power makes a great combo, with the Wild Card then the top dollar! Thankfully, it doesn't carry on to the Bankrupt right behind, so he'll enjoy $16,100 and the Maui trip! No thanks are to be given to the sadistic writers who take moonlight swims in the dead of winter. R4: There was a $5,000 spin spoiled in this week's promo, but I don't think it was this one. Cindy has a beast of a round with $42,000 on seven letters, nearly doubling Wil's already-impressive score of $24,272! Robyn has just $3,500 but that's better than a Pity Thousand. Bonus: I was able to RSTLNE this with little trouble. Cindy has another MASSIVE payday as we drop confetti on her - great solve! Overall: I can't comment on Round 2 due to missing it, but otherwise this was a pretty darn good show. I'll give it a 9/10 for the combination of odds-beating spingle, WC/TDV combo, mega speedup round, and the grand prize win.

Just so you know, I did notice a spoiler in a news story, but I didn't know if it necessarily would be Robyn or the final winning total being at least $150K. As it turned out, the answer was no to both & the second-highest winner of all-time on "Wheel" is Cindy w/ all her winnings in cash- what a late holiday present!!!!!
And because he didn't win that big maingame, Wil made absolutely the right call in using his WC late in the PP Round- ironically, both BR losses this week involved that WC.
Furthermore, have you all noticed we've been landing on the car more often in the BRs this season? we've landed on a car prize envelope at least once each week except for the Military Families Week.
Score: Nothing but 10!

The promo (which I ended up seeing on my local affiliate today) spoiled Wil's prize pickup but not its loss (of course). That's peanuts compared to the full online version of the promo. Just so you know, I did notice a spoiler in a news story, but I didn't know if it necessarily would be Robyn or the final winning total being at least $150K. Just wondering, is it the same article I have linked in my post above? (The blue "NOT!")

There's probably more that the local promo spoiled (I'm not sure if it was the full version or not, I was paying more attention to the Jeopardy episode at the time), but that little bit stuck out in my mind when I saw Wil (and his sweater) later on.

We started the night out slow, but boy did it really pick things up in a tremendous way!!! R1: See what happens when you go one spin too many, Wil? R2: Another MW gamble that turns out to be a bad one. Also, Cindy was being a consonative for not choosing the C's. R3: What a great round for Wil! And I agree w/ Bobby M. -- that this was a wise use of the WC to get $14K. Wil probably would have chosen a dud if he took that WC to the BR. R4: What an incredible comeback for Cindy!!! But that's not just the fun part... Bonus Round: ...this was a FANTASTIC GRAND PRIZE WIN!!! Cindy truly deserved every cent of that $147K and she's gonna celebrate the new year in style! ;D FTR, I had that w/ the RSTLNE. Unfortunately, I did look at the week's video promo and boy did they ever spoil that big win. [removed] EPISODE RATING: perfect 10! Andy, while I agree it was terrible of them to do that, please don't refer to the show's staff with such words. Thanks.

Yes, I finally got to sit down and watch an episode in real time, and boy, I couldn't have been happier to see that 6K final spin pay off in a big way like that! Then to get the 100K on top of that...Cindy's going to need those largest planes to carry home her cash and prizes!

History was indeed made tonight, no doubt. Although she's the second biggest winner in the show's history, right behind Mrs. Michelle "Millionaire" Lowenstein, she is the biggest winner among those whose winnings consist entirely of cash. That's something worth noting.

Regarding the weekly promo video, this week's reaches new lows after last week's travesty... Just as I thought -- Wheel is a primetime game show. What does Wheel have against people knowing they make mistakes? Especially since this was taped before last week with all its hoopla.

But it's not like they're going to acknowledge any "mistake" if it can't be corrected or if they feel it's not worth it. At this rate, nobody's going to comment on any of last week's happenings until the next time Pat Sajak is interviewed. That's the only scenario I can see anyone commenting on it, and if anybody, it would be him. If he hadn't deleted his Twitter, I'm sure he would have said something.

I have to ask all of you people giving this episode a 9 out of 10, what would a perfect 10 be? Everything that happened tonight plus an error-free game? This was definitely history. I'm really amazed they let Pat spin 5k on a puzzle with that many multiples. We've seen many times in the last year where they've let a runaway after R3 like that just be a runaway, usually dictated by multiples in R4. Either way, what a tremendous accomplishment and we finally get 100 on an easy BR to cash in. I think it will be a long time before 42k+ is won in the speedup again.

I'm really amazed they let Pat spin 5k on a puzzle with that many multiples. Try as they might, the show can't have control over everything, or else we'd be right back into the mess that caused the quiz show scandals. I have to ask all of you people giving this episode a 9 out of 10, what would a perfect 10 be? Everything that happened tonight plus an error-free game? I'm actually quite curious, myself, as well as what would have to happen to cause a 0 rating (or 1, if you don't go that low).

I have to ask all of you people giving this episode a 9 out of 10, what would a perfect 10 be? Everything that happened tonight plus an error-free game? Well, it wasn't exactly error-free, but I guess for a show that would get a 10/10 from me, there would have to be... - No major penalty hits (as in, nothing that makes the contestant lose out on anything major) - No horribly-written puzzles - No noticeable editing or miscalculations - An audience that reacts to everything they should (not tonight's, that's for sure) - Contestants that genuinely have fun without seeming like a ham - No dumb letter calls - Good uses of strategies or at least no bad strategies - No super-early solves leaving many multiples - Multiple good-paying rounds - Contestants that know what they're doing and not just getting lucked into it - At least $50K won in the BR and/or the MDW taken to the BR I didn't give numerical ratings last season, but I probably would have given Bonnie Rutschilling's episode (11/15/11) a 9 or 10 despite not being a $100K win. I still enjoy watching it very much. I'm actually quite curious, myself, as well as what would have to happen to cause a 0 rating (or 1, if you don't go that low). Hmm, well, everything would have to be worst-case scenario, but perhaps more realistically... - MDW picked up then Bankrupted on next spin - Multiple house minimum solves - Players that don't know the rules or seem like they've never seen the show (such as instantly solving in Speed-Up) - Bad puzzle writing - Unsolved Toss Up - Several penalty hits - Multiple null cycles cut - $100K or $1M loss (the latter would automatically make it a 3 at best) - A contestant not knowing a puzzle with 1-2 letters missing - Audience couldn't care less (though this wouldn't apply much if there were no spins for them to react positively to ) - Good-paying opportunities blown As for a possible candidate for this, the "AN UNKNOWN FACT" episode. Don't recall much from the maingame there, but it was a January 4th show, so... Uh-oh, that's next Friday. Let's pray that the curse doesn't continue...

Bumping. Cindy commented on Facebook that the original Speed-Up round was thrown out due to Pat accepting a wrong answer, but they kept the original Final Spin value. This might explain Pat's "...go home and blab" comment in the promo video.
