Toss-Ups: Audra's doing pretty good here by sweeping, but there's a Nonsense Answer from Laramie.
R1: This was a pretty quick affair. A couple of duds and eventually $1,500 for Laramie, putting him into second after his toss-up fail.
R2: Great gamble by Audra, and it pays off... until she Bankrupts it on her next spin. By the time the $3,500 comes up, there are only singles left, though Rodney appreciates the chance to get on the board with $4,050.
R3: I got this with just the T's, and Laramie gets a big spin... but immediately loses it all. The rest of the round is all Audra - she's locked in the MDW and wins the Ford Fiesta in one round! That's not even counting her $2,900 in cash and the mandatory trip to Belize, which help her into an even bigger lead!
R4: Around and around goes this one, and it's $7,200 for Rodney but not enough for anything near a win. Audra's going to have a Million-Dollar Bonus Round coming up!
Bonus: I got this with Audra's picks. Thankfully it wasn't anything big, just a 30.
Overall: Not great, but not bad at all. I'll spot it a 7/10.

Weird game. Disaster of a R2, great R3, easy BR lost due to yet another contestant who doesn't know how to talk it out.

This was one of the goofier games of the season...
-R1: First of all, why are they reluctant to call days of the week EVENTS? I personally think they are... second of all, incredibly bad themed puzzle here, on top of it the common duds led to a choppy round. -R2: Still choppy gameplay, down to WC just getting ignored again. Yay. -R3: Spin pattern megafail yet again, I've seen this too much... decent puzzle yet she takes forever to get it... but tonight it directly led to the full car. While the new car animation is much improved, I don't enjoy "subpar contestants gets big bucks by taking way too long to know puzzle" as much as I used to, and watching everyone on staff forget it was the PP, I didn't enjoy this round as much as I perhaps should have.
Like I said, choppy and inconsistent game. Without that miraculous car win it would have been a pretty poor game.
As for the BR... I will never understand how contestants can get the hardest word and still fail. What else is going to be PLAID? Should have had it.

Tossup #2: DOUBLE FAILURE just doesn't fit the blanks, Laramie.
R1: I got it quickly w/ the S's and the N's.
R2: This was an ugly round, especially the $11,500 BANKRUPT loss by Audra.
R3: So much for a quick cash-in by Laramie. But what a round for Audra! She had me worried once she decided to spin again, but thankfully, she came up with that right consonant of D!
Bonus Round: I definitely needed Audra's choices to solve. I thought for sure that would be enough for her to solve it, but no...I can't believe she didn't even know the second word. But it was nice to finally see another MDBR after a near three-month absence.
MY EP. RATING: 6 out of 10

That was a rough second round, resulting in several edits. At least the 1/2 CAR was won again & we had our first MDBR since the start of Nov.
It looked like Audra needed the B for the second word to have gotten her bonus puzzle.

R1: Why was this Things? It really should have been Events? Also, this was used as a $1,000 Toss-Up just last season under this same theme, but without the FRIDAY, and that was also Things, I believe. R2: They took a Same Name from last S28 (SUPER AND CEREAL BOWL) and turned it into a B&A. Terrible Bankrupt by Audra. "Hey, Rodney, you have that Wild--" "Shut up and let me solve!" Yet another player who has no idea how to use the Wild Card on their own accord... R3: Much better round! Excellent haul for Audra! (Though her MDW pickup was spoiled in a pic the show posted on their Facebook page last Friday). Love the new Car win graphic. Is that the "moving cars" you said you remembered seeing at your taping, Sanam? MDBR: FINALLY! This is the first one since November 1. If anything, I would have expected her to get only FABRIC. Reminds me of when a player had "COVERED BRIDGE" and got the first word and not the second. While we did get some nice winnings, a long overdue MDBR, and a very good audience for once (except for the almost nonexistent reaction to the $3500 hit at the start of R3), there were quite some ugly moments and missed opportunities until Audra started getting lucky, and a BR that could have easily been won. Rating: 6/10

Holy Cow! A prize puzzle that had little or nothing to do with the prize! Round of applause!
Odd decisions in Round 1. Saturday and Sunday became pretty apparent early on and using those they should've deduced the first word. And even if they couldn't deduce that first word, the way to go about it would've been to spin and call letters you know were in the puzzle (as Laramie did with the Y) and that would've led you to the answer. I just feel those duds were unneeded.
I'm shocked $4,000 was salvaged out of Round 2.
That last relevent use of Dancing in the Street was probably in Sister Act and before that David Bowie and Mick Jagger's cover from 1985. I was surprised at how long it took her to get the puzzle until I realized how old the song was. Not that I'm complaining. I'll enjoy this uptick in Song Title, Lyrics, & Artist. I also bet she isn't complaining in getting a bunch of cash and a car because of those extra spins either.

Toss-Ups: Nice sweep by Audra! How apt that the Nonsense Answer included FAILURE.
R1: Avoid the U-void here! The vowels would turn out to be killers here.
R2: What a strange round...awful Bankrupts and Lose a Turns throughout. Still, I would've used the Wild Card to claim that last consonant on $3,500.
R3: Off to a great start, then poor Laramie gets totally trashed by the Bankrupt! Audra has an impressive win with a great cardboard collection! Don't you just love the feeling when a puzzle suddenly comes to you?
R4: Full Speed Ahead, but here it's just to hopefully give the guys a chance to put money on the board. Fortunately, Rodney cashes in on a decent second-place haul. Had it once the D's appeared. Yoohoo, Vanna...where ya goin', babe? Just when I was raving about how fast she is in revealing letters, too. Who saw Sheldon?
BR: And the Hoosier gets a chance at a milli! I thought she had it for sure with those excellent choices. I did when the choices appeared. She's probably thanking her lucky stars that she didn't have too many bites of breakfast in the hotel that morning. Oh well, can't complain when you pretty much what you had going in.
Overall: Wow...what a crazy game. It had its ups and downs, and it was a good "yell at the screen" episode. Thrilling to see the MDBR, but it was probably just as well that Audra didn't hit the million. Awesome set, although I'm a little biased since I saw it in person the day before they taped. Everyone seemed to be getting into it...Pat, Vanna, audience, and the players. Yes, they were getting their butts kicked throughout the game, but they handled the roller coaster very well. Audra seemed like exactly what the coordinators were looking for. 8/10.
Backstory: As you know, I taped the day before these people did. I woke up early that morning to pack and get ready to meet my friend Tom, who would take me to the airport and get breakfast with me (unfortunately, he had to work the previous day, so he couldn't make it to Stage 11). I was tempted to go downstairs to the hotel lobby and visit the players waiting for the bus to the studio to wish them luck and tell them what to expect (and give them a chance to pet Oscar the Ocelot, the stuffed animal I took to the studio with me for good luck...it was a gift from my co-workers). I decided against it, though, as I couldn't stand to bear the thought of seeing them board the bus and be all cheerful and excited without me.

Toss-Ups: Good job by Audra sweeping all Toss-Ups! And a rather interesting Nonsense Answer by Laramie.
R2: Aww, would've been nice if Audra would've been able to hold on to that $10K. This round was quite a hot mess with all the penalty space hits. Rodney could've easily added another $3,500 to his total, but at least he's on the board now.
R3: I also knew the answer with just the T's. Too bad the Bankrupt had to cut Laramie's turn short, but this turned out to be an incredible round for Audra! She's got the MDW, the Ford Fiesta, and on top of all that, the trip to Belize!
R4: A pretty nice total for Rodney, who manages to finish with 5 figures with that solve, despite not being the winner.
BR: Yay, another Million Dollar BR! I was able to get this with her picks. Would've been nice to add that 30 grand to her total, but aside from that, $29K+ is still a pretty good day's worth.
Little bit of a rocky start, but definitely the highlight tonight was R3. Overall, this was a pretty good episode.

Got five spots on my BAVGO card (Free Play Not Used for Vowel, Cardboard Immediately Bankrupted, Title, Toss-up Sweep and Chat About Bonus Puzzle). I say that's about average. Right now, it's:
B A V G O X _ _ _ _ X _ _ _ X _ _ X _ X _ _ _ _ _ _ X _ _ _
Overall, not a bad ditty.

"Chat About Bonus Puzzle" doesn't count for tonight. We should have been more clear on this, but the chat would have to be about the puzzle as an object. In tonight's case, Pat would have to mention something about plaid fabric. Mentioning only that the puzzle was "PLAID FABRIC" doesn't count.

That wasn't even close to clear, I thought talk about how the BR went would have counted.

Can someone make a list of everything we should mark off our card just in case I might have missed something?
Right now I have marked off my card:
-Mystery $10K -Title -Toss-Up Sweep -Cardboard immediately lost
Did I miss anything?

I only got 3 spots & they are $10,000 Mystery Wedge Flipped, Free Play Not Used For Vowels, & Toss-Up Sweep. Round 3 was a nail-biter, but I am glad that the car was won & it was also good that it was only $30,000 in the bonus envelope or it would have been a disaster.

Hey guys, I know you're pretty excited about BAVGO, which is good and all...but discussion about the week's game should prolly be kept to the week's game thread in the BAVGO section. EDIT: Since we're all doing it...

Well, I'm glad Audra was lucky enough to get everything she did in R3, but she was awfully lacking in actual puzzle solving skills. But then again, so was everyone else; all three rounds should have been figured out much earlier than they were.
Ah well.

(Is there an Edit button on these things?)
Funny thing about the Bonus Round; I did get it with Audra's letters, but because I thought "plaid" is pronounced with a long "a" sound, I got it by figuring out FABRIC first, associated PLAID with that, and only then realizing that Audra had indeed figured out "PLAID". Still, though, to figure out that much and not get FABRIC, it's... well, honestly, rather consistent with her performance in the maingame.
