If I see another 2k minimum raise again... grr. Well, it will happen again eventually, but we get a reprieve now. It never happened this much before in any doubles week...
Maingame was the maingame, I guess... PP wins it, etc. BR was easy enough despite its longness.

Sigh... three more minimums, including one in the Speed-Up of all places. Plus one team getting bumped up to $2,000 despite taking the first toss-up, which is awkward as heck.
Team weeks, inevitable bastions of bad play and mass makers of minimums, how I loathe thee.

Let's see what happens this Friday night...
TUs: Uh-oh, yet another near-stumper, but at least everyone splits.
R1: They left off the S's, but good job by the McKnights (I'm gonna refer to them that way).
R2: Wonder why the Cardwells didn't go for the C's and L's. Nice quick solve by them, though. Rest of comment REDACTED by staff. Let's not make negative remarks like this about the players, okay?
R3: Very nice round for the McKnights!
R4: Rough round, but the Cardwells did try to go above the minimum this time.
R5: Nice quick solve by the McKnights. Too bad for the Bonillas' grand getting turned into 2.
BR: I wouldn't have gotten the 2nd word, but good solve by the McKnights! But $30K picked the wrong time to drop by and say hello, sorry.
My rating: 7.5/10 (R2 conservativity and a rough R4 brought it down for me)
This week was as good as Family Style from Chicago (S25) and Beaches Family Week (S27), so I'm giving it a 7.5/10.
NOW it's time for solo players to be Secret Santas.
Edited R2 comment.

You might not want to be so hard on Jillian and David, genius...
Either of the L's or C's would only be a pair, which means the only way they break the $2,000 minimum with just one spin is to hit either top dollar or the prize (even the other Mystery wedge or gift tag would only match the minimum, not surpass it). That means they'd have to risk spinning twice in order to get over the minimum if that 1/12 chance doesn't come through.
As for what they "cost the team to their left," given that they knew the solution and weren't likely to break the minimum, I find that to be a good defensive play. Maybe it does stop the other pair from $10,000+ for themselves and their Secret Santa winner, but as the great Herm Edwards puts it, you play to win the game.
So it really wasn't as "terrible" a decision as you make it out to be, and even if it were, we don't want negative comments like that against the players on this board. After all, you don't know which players might be reading the boards (or in the case of Jillian, actually be a registered member here). Criticism is fine, but remarks of that nature should be constructive and not berating.
Consider this a warning, not only to genius, but to others who post here: negativity against any of the players (members or not) is not tolerated and will be responded to by the staff with appropriate discipline.

True, sometimes players will do some... unorthodox things, to say the least (PILL-PUSHERS, anyone?). But you have to remember that they're the ones with the once-in-a-lifetime chance to play under the lights, camera, and pressure - for us, it's just 30 minutes of entertainment five/six nights a week. Stress makes people do crazy stuff, I tell you.
That being said, let's get back on the topic of tonight's episode, and wrapping up Walmart Family Week. Mario/Wayo, I think one of you was keeping count, how many minimums did we end up with this week?

^ 12 out of a possible 18 (2/3), only 3 of which would have been minimum solves on singles episodes.

R1: It's no fun when someone starts a round with a penalty hit. Sorry to see that happen to you and your dad, Jillian. I would've gone for the L's and the S's if I were Yvonne & Pamela, but at least everyone's on the board now.
R2: Aww, Yvonne & Pamela were doing so well up until they called the dud R. Jillian, I was kinda surprised when you went for the solve with no money. But at least you add another 2 grand to your total.
R3: Wow, that's a big puzzle. Dang, this would've been a huge round if one of the teams had landed on the Express Wedge and went all the way through; up to $22,000 possible through the Express, and that's not including the prize! But despite that, this was still a great round for Yvonne & Pamela!
R5: I got the answer at the same time Yvonne & Pamela solved it. That was a nice quick solve!
BR: I knew the answer with the RSTLNE. Not a whole lot of help from Yvonne & Pamela's picks, but I'm glad to see they were still able to nail it and win the 30 grand! Congrats to them!
I also loved the enthusiasm that Arthur showed, pretty much throughout the whole BR segment, LOL (speaking of which, I think somebody should make a GIF of him doing the can-can at the end, or of him spinning Pamela around).
Well, aside from all the house minimum solves/bump-ups, tonight's episode was alright.
Jillian, I'm sorry that you and your dad didn't end up as tonight's big winners. But, congrats to you two on winning $6,000! And as long as you two had fun, I think that's the most important thing.

Having hit Bankrupt once already, knowing we'd likely have to spin twice to get above the house minimum and realizing that if we lost our turn, Y & P next to us would solve and add $10,000 to their bank, we made the decision to leave the Cs and Ls on the board and solve A PINCH OF SALT LAKE CITY. I can understand genius and others not agreeing with our call, but it was what felt right to us at that moment. The house minimum still put us in a small lead and I was hoping that we could get further into/solve the Prize Puzzle in the next round. Unfortunately, the Wheel was not on our side. It's always tough to know the answer and realize the turns won't ever get back around to you after hitting Bankrupt and that happened to us in R1 and R3. Either way, I was glad we had the chance to solve some puzzles and head home with a bit of cash. Thanks to you all for watching and rooting us on (and sticking up for us in some cases). You guys are the best! ---------------------------------------------------- Side story- Pamela's friend, Arthur was a hoot. He sang opera during some of the breaks and actually gave Pat a giant bear hug/picked him up before running to Pamela... they just cut that part out. Haha. ---------------------------------------------------- After their flubs on the first T-U, Jillian & Pamela became better players as the ep. played out. Score: 7 I know. I'm embarrassed about that first toss-up. Mostly it was nerves and since you never know when someone else is going to buzz in, I got anxious. Haha. Not my proudest moment. Combined consecutive posts.

Jillian, I'm going on record to say that you and your Dad did well, and I favor your move in Round 2 whole-heartedly. That was definitely the smart thing to do, with the low number of multiples and the Mystery $10,000 sitting on the Wedge Ledge to your left. Blocking the Blue Team was definitely the right thing, and it gave you a boost of confidence going into the Prize Puzzle...except that damn Wheel just wasn't on your side. What's most important, though, is that you had fun and enjoyed yourself. Congratulations!

Nice to hear from you, Jillian. I'm sorry about what happened to you in the first Toss-Up. It's normal to be nervous, and things like that can happen to anyone (remember SELF-POTATO?...or any Nonsense Answers, for that matter. ). Although, I think PLEASANT TO MEET YOU sounds like a sensible answer. After seeing your input on R2, I'm a lot more understanding about why you solved when you did. I'm sure Yvonne & Pamela would've liked to add that 10 grand to their total, but if I were in your shoes, I'd be pretty nervous if that happened. I also liked seeing what you had to say about Arthur. He definitely seems like a great guy to be friends with. Whoa, he actually picked Pat up off the ground?! You and your dad did the best you could, Jillian. Congratulations again on winning $6,000! And I'm glad that you two enjoyed yourselves!

Hi Jillian!
I kinda understand why you and your dad left out the multiples in R2. You did have a small lead over the McKnights at that moment. But I'm glad you and your father won an even six grand! Good job.

It was right, Jillian. I'm glad you were aware of the house minimum and didn't have the common mentality of "I have to get some money before I solve. I'm not solving with $0." or "I'm probably not allowed to solve when my turn comes." However, it also was not worth it to go for the D's in R4, because since the minimum was $2000 and the second-highest value on the Wheel being $900, you would have had to spin $5,000 to get above the minimum. I understand trying to max out the consonants, though, and it's not as much your fault as it is the skewed team week rules. I'm hoping with most of the solves bumped to the minimum when possible, the staff will notice this and change things come next season... ....Pffthahahaha  Yeah, right... Though I wonder if this is typical for team weeks and we just haven't been noticing how much they happen until now. We'll see what happens during the other team weeks, I guess. Maybe I'll take a look at past team weeks and see how things went there. Wow, to think they were being conservative on PPs for the sake of Express. I believe this was only the second 4-row PP this season, and also the longest, and of course, it's terribly worded. It could have easily worked without the "UNWINDING WITH". -_- In the BR, I think the H helped them. It's always great to see people still win even when wasting obvious letters. Jillian, did you have any letters in mind with RSTLNE while watching, or did you already know it? They shouldn't have. That was already the best BR win celebration of the season so far. I don't know if you've heard about this, Jillian, but I have received a tip that Pamela's husband had to move away to find a job to support them and their young son, and with their winnings, he was able to come back home. Very heartwarming. Congratulations to you and your dad, Jillian!
