Can we beat our main-game and Bonus Round sweep from yesterday?
Airdate: May 12, 1999
From Philadelphia's Apollo of Temple, it's America's game! Welcome to College Week!
Today's A's go to:
Jon Adeler: Freshman in University of Pennsylvania, from Cherry Hill, NJ
Herb Mitcheley: Senior in Rowan University, majoring in marketing, from Randolph, NJ
Genene Barnes: Sophomore in Temple University, majoring in math, from Queens, NY
Pat sits on the host railing while Jon, lost for words, tries to explain that there were cardboard cut-outs of Pat and Vanna. The woman interviewing him asked what he would do if he won $25,000, and Jon said he kissed the cardboard Pat on the lips!
The top-dollar value on the Wheel is $1,000. We're starting off with a handshake from Pat before this round:
Jon solves MADEMOISELLE. He's flirting with a $3,000 bonus, but can he get his hands on it?
He talks it out and, at the very last millisecond, he solves FASHIONS; oddly, the buzzer never sounded after the 6th second.
I don't know how I'd want to "dress up" this prize, but we'll think of something. Here's a Techmedia computer package (labeled TECH) worth $2,600.
It's still simple as glitter for the $2,500 and one-third $10,000 spaces.
You're killing me with all that punctuation and those spaces.
Jon solves FIRST U.S. VICE PRESIDENT & SECOND U.S. PRESIDENT. As it's politics, I don't know how I would explain a $2,000 bonus...
...but he gets the money regardless with the correct answer of John Adams.
Hit the books, and they might try to shove you on that plane to Scotland (labeled TRIP) worth $4,860.
You'll then blush brighter than the $3,500 and Jackpot spaces. That is, if you're still here after this round:
Herb ends the red streak with I MUST HAVE OVERSLEPT.
After the break, Pat introduces and thanks the Temple University pep band.
And talk about oversleeping. Pat has to give the Wheel a Final Spin. Consonants are worth...$5,000 a piece! Hot Lips begins:
Jon: T (DUD!)
Herb: R (DUD!)
Genene: S (DUD!)
Jon: P (DUD!)
Herb: N ($5,000)
Genene: C ($5,000)
Jon: L ($5,000)
Herb: M (DUD!)
Genene: D (DUD!)
Jon: G (DUD!)
Herb: B ($10,000)
Genene: W (DUD!)
Jon: F (x2) ($15,000)
Jon solves BEN AFFLECK! Pat even has a cardboard cut-out of himself ready...and Jon kisses it!
It seems red's opposition is still feeling the aftershock of yesterday. Genene settles with some nice parting gifts.
BONUS ROUND:
Pat tells Jon that if he wins the Bonus Round, those kissing days are over.
Now as he will focus on the final, he picks the W from the envelopes. The final puzzle is set up:
RSTLNE gives him...
His choices of MPDI only fill in the obvious:
...and he is still stumped. He does not solve I'M STUFFED...
...although Pat was safe anyway, as it was the Wrangler. Jon still finishes pretty strong anyway with $27,450, all cash!
