Thought I'd put this out there for those who appreciate some introspective writing, hope my fellow staffers don't mind. I mentioned this when I was last on one of Mario's shows, but here's the full bit...
The backstory: my grandfather wrote a memoir of his experience in the Korean War. It was posthumously published in October 2004, but I couldn't read it because it was originally written in Korean.
My dad and I had been talking about translating it for a long time, but we never got around to it until now. Well, he's doing the actual translating, I'm just making sure it all makes sense. This July will mark 10 years since he passed away, and I thought doing this would be a wonderful tribute to a man I had the great pleasure of knowing for 12 years.
To complement that, I'm keeping a blog of my reflections as I go through the translation process, and you can find it right here. While I would appreciate any comments, please do so on the blog pages themselves. Questions, however, can go here.
