If I'm not mistaken, I believe Pat has said before on Twitter that he prefers not to speak to contestants in the pool just to dispel any improprieties that could arise. A good rule to have, just to keep everything on the up and up. Not long after I got the letter saying I would be on the show I did reply to one of his tweets (a joke he made) with an aside about me being in the pool. He replied back asking that I stop tweeting him after that to avoid impropriety. Either Mario or Prizes saw it as they were operating the BAV Twitter account at the time. Once I got the call to tape, I even stopped following him on Twitter for those two weeks to play it safe until after taping. My speculation was more about why he does not greet the contestants in the green room before taping since I haven't seen any reports of him stopping in before taping where there have been numerous reports about Vanna stopping in (including when I taped where she must have just walked in as she was still in street clothes). I'm guessing for the same reasons he avoids tweeting pooled contestants on Twitter. |
