I feel like all these pre-emptions and delays have been getting out of hand. It was bad enough not having it on Friday night with Patriots All Access, but now it's also true on Thursday night with the stupid Thursday Night Football on CBS. And it's being pre-empted tomorrow for a debate, so that's 3 days this week that Wheel will not be airing at its normal 7pm timeslot. So I really think that Wheel and/or J! need to move to a different station. I say "and/or" because there are some markets where they don't air on the same station, and I think usually if they air on different stations, they're sister stations.
I know that WBZ in Boston is one of only 3 CBS O&Os that air Wheel, and I think it's THE only one that airs Jeopardy! The other 2 being KTVT Dallas and WCCO Minneapolis, and in both of those cities, J! is on a different station, though I think it's the sister station in Dallas.
But anyway, I think that if this were to be the case in Boston, they should keep Jeopardy! on at 7pm on WBZ like it is on Thursday nights so it won't be affected by football, and then air Wheel on sister station MyTV38. Both shows aired on that station for awhile, until 2009 because they figured that they appeal to a slightly older audience than the reset of the TV38 programming, and they belong more on WBZ.

Political debates are pre-emptions I can understand.
I don't quite get why they decided to save Jeopardy on Thursday Night Footballs. Maybe J gets significantly higher ratings here.
Pats All Access has been a dumb thing for awhile, I'm not sure how that possibly does well on a Friday night slot.
I do miss the days it was on the sub-affiliate, where it was completely immune from everything... those were the days.

Fact: More people in Boston care about football than Wheel. If you were running a station, wouldn't you want to air a program that would bring in significantly more money than Wheel would?
Remember, television is a business first and foremost. The primary objective is to make money. To do that, you put on the programs that people want to watch the most...and if a program dedicated to the local football team is it, then that's what you air. Granted, I think the amount of media coverage the NFL gets is absolutely fucking ridiculous, but that's just how it goes.
As for the Thursday Night Football package, that's a network deal, so it affects every CBS affiliate, not just WBZ. Be thankful your station at least moves it to later in the night...mine's pushing Thursday and Friday episodes back one day. Additionally, on the off chance that my station pre-empts Wheel for some silly charity drive thingymafucker, they don't air that day's show at all!
Also, you can't just easily move programming onto another station...they have broadcasting commitments too. In my market, the CBS affiliate- which airs Wheel- also owns the local Fox affiliate, with its own distinct branding and programming. Moving Wheel to the Fox station involves bumping that station's 730 programming, which they are paying to air and have sold advertising for, so they're not about to give up that revenue (and piss off that fanbase!) just to satisfy one other show's audience.
Oh, and this thread doesn't really deal with the TV show, so... MOVED to Mr. Irrelevant

Maybe because J!'s episodes are in a chronological order thanks to having champions and they want viewers to know who wins and who will play on Friday?
